Amiibo Guide

Mario Kart 8

by Justin Berube - November 12, 2014, 9:41 am EST

How Nintendo's hit racing game will take advantage of Amiibo figures.

Mario Kart 8 released without any Amiibo support. The good news for fans of Nintendo's NFC figures is that the game will receive an update on November 13, 2014 to enable Amiibo compatibility.

Amiibo figures compatible with Mario Kart 8 will unlock special Mii Racing Suits that Mii characters can wear. These costumes are based on the character whose Amiibo is used.

Mario Kart 8 currently doesn't have any figures of its own and only takes advantage of Amiibo from other series. The full list of Amiibo compatible figures can be found below.

There should should be an honorable mention for Rumble Blast.  Know what be really cool is a Wave 1 Checklist as a PDF...  Wonder if I could do that in Gimp...

Truthfully the more I read about these figures coming out the less impressed I am with them. Maybe they'll be better than I'm thinking, but till it's proved other wise I just can't seemed to get excited for them all that much. At first I thought they'd work like the Skylander ones do but it looks like that's a no. I'll get one a see how it works, (but I'm not so sure how this is gonna work out for the time being).

don't buy them, they suck.

There's my guide.

Mario Party 10... When I was a kid I used to love the Mario Party series. I loved them so much that even though I had no one to play with, I would just play by myself for hours and hours and hours. I hope these figures let you do something interesting playing single-payer. I don't even have one friend who wants to play MP, now I have to find 4? Please, Nintendo. Not all of your fans have a billion people that want to play couch multiplayer with your games.

KITT 10KNovember 13, 2014

I'm with ya on that man. I don't have anyone who can play Mario Party with me anymore either. However if you wanna add me to your friend list on your Wii U, (or anyone else who would like to add me for that matter), my user name on my Wii U is KITT_10K. (You can never have too many friends.)

Why did they have to make Luigi look like Stalin?

Why did they have to make Luigi look like Stalin?

.
Now that you say that, it seems like he's always looked like Stalin.

1. I'm not interested at all in Codename: STEAM why are they making this and not Advance Wars
2. I'm not interested at all I wish it was Advance Wars 5, but I'm curious about it
3. I don't think I'll ever get it, but I want to learn more
4. I might get this some day (hopefully I can find it on sale) please tell me more
5. Oh Majora's Mask pin if I pre-order..........I don't think I'm going to get there that's too bad the pin looks really cool
6. Fire Emblem Awakening Characters can be used if I buy their Amiibos, is it too late to get that Majora's Mask pin and where can I read more about this game. The 6 steps to becoming hooked on a new Nintendo IP. Dang there goes $66 (game plus 2 Amiibo)

I totally agree with you. Nintendo is going a little overboard with the local multiplayer. I like deep single player experiences.

So this is how the world ends...

Not always, he used to be Mario's twin brother. But that was swept under the rug just like other dirty secrets Nintendo would prefer we forget.

Demo is up on european eShop.

Which is stupid because we aren't getting the game until May...
