Sunsoft's character platformer from 1993 might be getting a Virtual Console re-release.
Aero the Acrobat, a 1993 Sunsoft game, has been rated for Wii on Australia's OFLC ratings board, according to Siliconera.
It is assumed that the game will be a Virtual Console re-release of the Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis version of the Sunsoft platformer, which was developed by Iguana Entertainment.... Read more...

The Japanese best-seller will hit North America and Europe this July.
Today Nintendo announced the release date of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies to be July 11 in North America, and July 23 in Europe.
The game, which pits players on an epic role-playing quest, will launch in North America exactly one year after the Japanese game, which launched July 11, 2009. The game has gone on to sell more than four million copies in Japan.

On Monday, May 17 at 10a.m., Nintendo of America and the American Heart Association are set to make a joint announcement at a press event in New York City.

You hunters out there can now check out the current online quests...online.
Capcom's Monster Hunter Tri Community Site has been updated with some handy new functionality. Players can now view a live schedule of Arena and Event quests.
For the uninitiated, up to this point players had no way of knowing what the current week's quests were without going online. Now they can simply go to the Community Site, click on the "Gem" icon in the top-right corner of the main dialog, and view a quest calendar.

Tecmo chief offers his opinion on who the new device will appeal to.

European players will experience Commander Video's latest WiiWare adventure ahead of North American players.
BIT.TRIP RUNNER, the fourth game in Gaijin Games' BIT.TRIP WiiWare franchise, has been released in Europe as part of this week's WiiWare downloads. RUNNER will be a rhythm platforming title in which Commander Video, the star of the franchise, runs through the stage. Players must help him avoid obstacles while focusing on rhythmic patterns on screen.

The cause behind Nintendo's battle is the sale of chips that enable piracy on the DS.
Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against Queens, New York based company NXPGAME. According to Nintendo, the company owns several websites that sell illegal copying products. When asked to stop selling the product, the company agreed, but later continued to sell the product under a different website address.

The classic Hudson franchise makes an appearance on Nintendo's downloadable game service.
Famitsu has confirmed that Hudson will be releasing Necromancer 2 on DSiWare. Evil Sacred Sword: Necromancer – Nightmare Reborn originally started its life as a mobile phone game named Necromancer 2, and was later ported to DSiWare.
The DSiWare version features updated graphics and use of the two DSi screens. The game will be released in Japan in mid-June and will be sold for 800 DSi Points ($8).

The latest Dragon Quest spin off reaches a million units shipped, while Nintendo classics return to the charts.
The Media Create sales charts for May 3 through 9 (which covers Japan's Golden Week sales) have been updated, and Square Enix's Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 takes number 1 position. The title sold 253,000 copies this week for a total of 876,000 copies sold. Since its release, the DS spin-off title has shipped a million units.
