Metroid: Other M European Release Date Confirmed

Samus' next adventure will arrive in Europe shortly after its North American and Japanese launches.

Today Nintendo announced that 3 September 2010 is the European launch date for Metroid: Other M.

This joins the previously announced dates of 31 August for North America and 1 September for Japan. This is near enough to a simultaneous launch for most of the world, with the date variations due to local release patterns. Game releases in Europe are normally on Fridays.

Nintendo Applies for Patent for Multiple Game Loading System Wii

A patent for a system to load Wii games from a hard drive used in hospitals, hotels, retail stores, and development was recently discovered.

The release of Love Plus + helped the portable lead the pack in Japan last week.

The Wii and Nintendo DS Lite saw slight sales increases of 100 units each in Japan this week, while the Nintendo DSi fell to 17,036 units.The big winner this week for Nintendo was the DSi LL, which increased 10,000 units to slightly over 41,000 sold. Capcom's new Xbox 360 game debuts slightly ahead of Konami's new DS title.

The past few weeks have been big weeks for game industry sales in Japan, with both Super Mario Galaxy 2 releasing and the Nintendo DS line receiving a price cut. This week is no exception as twelve new games debut in the top 30, with seven of those hitting the top 10.

Sony Wishes to Work with Nintendo to Promote 3D 3DS

Nintendo should have a "broader perspective" rather than bashing 3D glasses, says top Sony executive.

In an interview with IGN, Sony's president of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida has expressed discontent with Nintendo's dismissal of the use of 3D glasses to experience 3D gaming.

At Nintendo's E3 press conference, it was repeatedly stressed that one of the strengths of the Nintendo 3DS was how it would let users experience 3D gaming without the needs for cumbersome and expensive 3D glasses.
