Junction Point Studios and Warren Spector no longer have a home at Disney Interactive.
Junction Point Studios, the developer behind Epic Mickey and its sequel, has been shut down.
The closure, as reported by Polygon, was confirmed by a representative of Disney. This source said the reason behind the move was "changes to our Games organization."
Following the closure, Junction Point's president and co-founder Warren Spector stepped down as the vice president of Disney Interactive Studios.

Once scheduled for a December release, Zen Pinball 2 is almost here.
Zen Pinball 2 will release this Thursday, January 31, in Europe. North America will get the title "very soon" according to developer Zen Studios.
Zen Studio's apologized for the delay which has pushed the game to a February release in North America. The developer said "We thank you for your patience during the delay, but we had to make 10000% sure the game worked correctly so you all can have fun playing the game immediately."

Megabloks are just not LEGO bricks, and other systems just aren't Wii U.
LEGO City Undercover would not be the same on different platforms according to Executive Producer Loz Doyle.
In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, Doyle states that
"LEGO City Undercover would definitely lose
something on other platforms, Chase is actually given a LEGO version of the
GamePad as his Police Communicator, so it's really woven into the story."

Nintendo may be allowed in China once again.
China may end its 13-year ban on video game console sales. China's state-run newspaper, The China Daily, reported today that the Ministry of Culture has begun discussions with other Chinese agencies and gaming manufacturers about lifting the ban.

I may have to take down a beaver or two on the way, but it beats waiting.
EB Games, a division of video game retailer GameStop, is selling Fire Emblem Awakening early in Canada.
When contacted, a representative at the retailer said that an email was sent out to EB Games locations across Canada detailing the early sale. Stores are informed to make their copies of Fire Emblem Awakening available for purchase as soon as inventory arrived.

A sad start to the new year.
It might be the end of an era for two companies as THQ and Atari
filed for bankruptcy in December and January, respectively.
THQ has
officially ceased to exist as of Tuesday when the company’s studios and
properties were auctioned off. Atari, however, hopes to transition into
digital publishing and live on in a new form.

North America will now get the European launch title.
Puddle is launching on the Wii U eShop next week, January 31, in North America, Neko Entertainment has confirmed with us.
Puddle was initially scheduled to release alongside the Wii U this past November. While it did so in Europe, North American liquid-physics puzzle fans were left in the cold.

Nintendogs + Cats, Fire Emblem: Awakening and more also coming to the eShop as digital releases!
The Nintendo 3DS save data transfer tool, a program that will enable 3DS owners to move save data from cartridges to the digital versions, is set to be released in Japan this March, Nintendo president revealed in a video update on Friday evening (January 25) on the 3DS eShop in Japan. No additional details were given about the transfer tool software.

A Limited Edition Pikachu 3DS XL and a Pokémon Meloetta distribution event may be headed to the Americas this March.
This news supposedly comes from Nintendo’s official South American distributor, JVL. JVL apparently attended a fan created Pokémon event in Chile where they made these announcements.

A special Keldeo Pokémon Wi-Fi distribution event has been announced for owners of Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2.

An HD remake of Wind Waker and a "brand-new" title are in development.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, originally released for the GameCube in 2002, is being developed for Wii U with HD graphics, announced Eiji Aonuma, the producer of recent Zelda titles, in today's Nintendo Direct on January 23. This HD version will support Off-TV Play and will receive tweaks to its gameplay. The game is scheduled to release fall 2013.

Close-up photography and weight loss discussions... the future of Miiverse has arrived.
New Miiverse interactions for upcoming first-party Wii U titles Pikmin 3 and Wii Fit U were outlined in today's Nintendo Direct presentation.
In Pikmin 3, players have the option of using the Wii U GamePad as a camera and will be able to take close-up screenshots of gameplay from the perspective of individual Pikmin characters. The pictures can then be uploaded directly to the Pikmin 3 Miiverse community.

Nintendo and Atlus team up to mash together their strategy RPG franchises.
A new title combining the Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei franchises, developed in collaboration between Intelligent Systems and Atlus, was revealed for Wii U during the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast.
A teaser trailer showed an impressive cast of characters from both series, but no gameplay details or release dates are known at this time.

Nintendo's classic download service will return with some new surprises.
Wii U's Virtual Console service will begin immediately after a system update to the console scheduled for this spring.
Because titles are being reworked for off-screen use on the console's GamePad controller, Nintendo is unable to provide the entire existing list from the very start. However, a selection of NES and SNES titles will be available to start things off.

Who's ready for faster start screen loading times?
New enhancements to Wii U and Miiverse were announced during the latest Nintendo Direct.
The presentation revealed that Miiverse, initially exclusive to Wii U, will be made into a smartphone application this spring. Initially, the app will be browser-only, but will expand to support smartphones in the future.
