NOA's president comes out of hiding to editorialize about the Wii's technological position.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, who has been nowhere to be seen for quite some time, has a special article up at Cnet explaining the reasons behind Nintendo's positioning of the Wii. Most of what he says is the usual stuff, like how the game industry needs to broaden its horizon or how a company can appease its core audience while at the same time getting new consumers jump on board.

Update: 1UP has uncovered a little more information about Legends. The game looks like it will actually be a third-person adventure game set in the Soul Calibur universe, and not a traditional fighting game. The story will play a major part in the game, involving a lot of characters from games past, along with new characters.

Another classic Final Fantasy gets the 3D treatment on Nintendo DS.

With the success of Final Fantasy III on DS, it's no surprise that Square Enix is making another 3D remake of this tremendously popular series. The company has chosen Final Fantasy IV for the next remake, and this game should be much more familiar to fans around the world. Originally released on the Super NES/Famicom, the English version was called Final Fantasy II.

Sprite, Dr. Pepper and Fanta drinkers in the UK will have a chance to win a Wii prize package through July.

Nintendo has partnered up with the UK arm of Coca-Cola to give Sprite, Dr. Pepper and Fanta drinkers in Great Britain the opportunity to win an "Ultimate Wii Game Room" that includes a Wii with Wii Sports, an LCD TV, a mini fridge and a few cases of soda. 10 of these packages will be given away every day from May 14 until the beginning of July. Two unannounced games join Mortal Kombat in the company's 2007 Wii plans.

NOA may be planning to relocate to San Francisco or New York, if the word on the street is to be believed.

Game Informer Online is reporting that Nintendo of America's sales and marketing departments may soon be leaving its Redmond, Washington headquarters and relocating elsewhere, perhaps as early as this fall. Other departments were not mentioned, so it is currently unclear whether or not other parts of NOA would stay or go if the move were indeed to happen.

The news magazine includes him on the list of influential people; readers voted him ninth.

The father of Metal Gear Solid recently got the chance to test-drive his own character against Sakurai's Mario.

Speaking on the (official) Kojima Productions Report podcast, host Ryan Payton let it be known that Metal Gear Solid series creator Hideo Kojima played Super Smash Bros. Brawl at Masahiro Sakurai's development studio. According to Payton, Kojima thought that Brawl, as he played it, "felt very complete" and "was a lot of fun." Kojima later said that Nintendo "could probably put it out now and it would sell millions of copies."

Even the Nintendo prez can't believe the success of the DS. Also, 40% of Wiis are connected to the Internet and a lot of games are being developed by Nintendo.

In addition to releasing its financial report this week, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata held a press conference for his company's investors. The presentation highlighted Nintendo's reasons for success over the past year, most of which was due to the Nintendo DS. Predictably, Iwata focused his attention on the handheld for the bulk of his speech.

Lists are out for all systems in Japan and TurboGrafx-16 in the US and Europe and include some big-name games.

First up, we have seventeen games scheduled for release in Japan next month with Super Famicom oddly absent. Three games, Exerion, Super Mario Bros. 2, and Neutopia come out on the first of the month, while the rest will follow.
