The new console will not apply a region lock "in general."
Nintendo Switch will not be region locked, company president Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed in tonight's Nintendo Switch reveal presentation. Unlike previous Nintendo home consoles and Nintendo 3DS, Switch will allow users to play games from different regions.
Kinishima did not confirm this was the case for all games, leaving room for a bit of uncertainty with the phrase "In general, we will not apply region locking to Nintendo Switch software."
