EA Closes Blueprint Studio, Shifts Development of Boom Blox 2 Wii

All corporate employees who worked in the studio have been laid off, quit, or moved to other projects.

The internal, lesser known studio, Blueprint of Electronic Arts has closed its doors for good due to the economic conditions of the United States. Blueprint was an internal team, whose existence was never publicly announced by EA, partially because of their purpose within the company.

Nintendo Expected to Meet Wii Demand for Holidays, But Not Wii Fit Wii

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime expects that for the first holiday season since the Wii's release, the company will be able to meet demand for the system.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Reggie Fils-Aime is reporting that Nintendo of America has "got a good shot at meeting demand during the holidays" with their Wii hardware. Unfortunately, Fils-Aime "knows [they'll] fall short" "with Wii Fit."

Shortly after shutting down, game publisher Brash Entertainment was sued by independent developers 7 Studios and Zootfly.

EA Sports Active Announced For Wii Wii

Activision says that some artists only want to release their songs as track packs. Jimi Hendrix is one of those artists.

With the onslaught of Guitar Hero: World Tour downloadable content announcements for Wii ranging from Oasis to the Killers and the Quantum of Solace theme, it was strange to see the recent Jimi Hendrix three-pack announcement with no mention of a Wii release. Learn how to pronounce the title of this impressive-looking RPG.

New information from D3Publisher and Media Vision's upcoming Nintendo DS fantasy RPG RIZ-ZOAWD (pronounced similar to “Lizard” in Japanese) has been released via the official website of the game.

Based on the Wizard of Oz fairytale, the player will take control of Dorothy and be accompanied by all the characters from the original story. The title of the game itself is an anagram of “Wizard Oz”.

Famitsu article gives details on Pikmin and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and their new control schemes.

Famitsu detailed some games from the upcoming “Play it on Wii” collection, a series of GameCube games which will be re-released on the Wii with new controls and other improvements.

Wield the might of the gods in a new version of the classic PC game.

In 1989 British developer Bullfrog Productions released Populous for the home computer. As one of the original God games, if not the first, Populous was critically acclaimed and sold phenomenally. XSEED Games recently announced that Populous DS has begun shipping to retailers. Like in the original, players assume the role of a god who can manipulate the landscape and create disasters like volcanoes and earthquakes.

Hudson's Pool Revolution will bring more billiards to WiiWare.

Earlier this week, Hudson announced that they will be releasing Pool Revolution: Cue Sports on WiiWare. Featuring four-player multiplayer both online and off, Pool Revolution "gives WiiWare fans what they want," according to Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Product Development at Hudson. The game uses two different control schemes, one using motion controls for shot strength, and one using buttons.

Snowboard Riot is a racing game with weapons, online play, and Balance Board support.

Hudson will bring snowboarding to WiiWare with Snowboard Riot. Featuring races more similar to Mario Kart than SSX, Snowboard Riot is an action-racing title with weapons that range from homing missiles to invisibility. Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Product Development at Hudson stated that "[this] is not your standard snowboarding game. [Snowboarding] is a rush by itself, but when you add weapons, it becomes even more exciting."

World of Goo Switches to WiiWare in Europe Wii

2D Boy has scrapped the proposed retail PAL version of their hugely acclaimed puzzler in favour of a digitally distributed release identical to the one currently available in North America.

World of Goo, the physics-based puzzle/construction game whose North American launch was met with glowing reviews last month, is now on course for a WiiWare release across Europe, according to developers 2D Boy. The two-man independent studio has renegotiated its agreement with publisher RTL Games in order to offer PAL gamers the same World of Goo experience as enjoyed by their counterparts across the Atlantic.

Art Style Games Coming to Europe in November

The first wave of retro-styled WiiWare titles will become available over three successive weeks beginning November 21.

Nintendo UK has announced that the first games in the Art Style series, a range of concept-driven WiiWare titles with simple visuals, will begin releasing on the European Wii Shop Channel during November. Cubello, Rotohex, and Orbient will be made available to download over three week successive weeks, beginning with the launch of Cubello on November 21. Each game will cost 600 Wii Points.
