Ed's Pre-Show Thoughts

In a recent post at IGN's message boards, Silicon Knights president Denis Dyack, who reportedly may one day be Louie's father-in-law, mentioned that his company is looking into GBA development.

GBA already in stores? GBA

What! Early? Nintendo to break the date?

According to EAGB, retailers in Hong Kong and Singapore have already recieved their GBA's. But looks like the Nintendo Police want no date breakers....

A check with a Hong Kong source and a Singapore supplier, confirms that the GameBoy Advance is already here in Hong Kong and Singapore but Nintendo agents here have been given strict warnings not to release it until the 21st or risk losing their distributorship.

TGS = GBA Games Galore GBA

The Tokyo Game Show will be the place to be if you're looking for GBA love...

A whopping 59 GBA titles will be shown at this years Tokyo Game Show. 59 titles! Actually it's the second highest amount of games for a system. Playstation (why?) is #1 with 82 titles. Playstation 2 is #3 with 45 titles on display. Only 2 N64 titles will be on display.

The Spring Tokyo Game Show begins March 30th.

The Mario Deck Gets Shuffled GBA

The Mario games are coming out of order on the GBA.

It seems that Mario Advance 2 will be a remake of Super Mario World. Earlier, it was confirmed that Nintendo would be making a remake of SMB3 as well. Interestingly, Nintendo is not releasing the games in logical order, saving SMB3 for later. Expected to be released this year, we will have more information as it becomes available.

The internet is a-buzz with the news that screenshots for the X-Box title "Amped" were faked. Rick Powers with the story ...

All of a sudden, the snowboarding title "Amped" for Microsoft's X-Box is looking more and more like Vaporware as screenshots are proven to be doctored.

The main screenshot in question is a close-up of one of the boarders. It looks incredibly detailed, as a matter of fact, a little too much so ...

GameCube Launches on Track? GC

Yamauchi said this morning, "I pity the fool who thinks we'll have a late launch!" And then he said,"Well maybe in Japan there might be a delay." We gots tha' juice.

In an interview today, Yamauchi stated that everything is still on schedule for the Japanese and US launch of GameCube.

He also said that they will be upping GBA production by 100,000 units due to the huge demand for the new portable powerhouse.

Japanese pre-sales for the unit have reached 2.7 million at the end of January.

GameCube Expands GC

Looks like Nintendo is planing the GameCube for the long haul.

IGN has received a leaked version of the GameCube SDK (System Development Kit) documentation. According to this SDK info, the GameCube will have the possibility of expanding it's amount of ARAM (Auxiliary RAM). Currently, the GameCube's ARAM is at 16MB. This number could be expanded to 48MB though. This means that the total system RAM could reach 75MB.
