AFTRA is still going through with the new deal, but the Screen Actors' Guild decides it's still not a fair one and pulls out.

Eariler this month, the two unions and game publishers reached an agreement on increasing payments to voice actors featured in videogames. It was a reluctant agreement, however, since Hollywood was looking for the game industry to offer residual payments to actors who star in top-selling games.

Revolution Eschews High Definition Wii

First they removed component video support from the GameCube; now Nintendo has confirmed that the Revolution will not be supporting high definition video outputs, such as 1080i and 1080p. Sony and Microsoft have already announced support for such formats with their respective next-gen consoles.

Voice Actors Reach Agreement with Publishers

A new deal with voice actors will see a pay increase up front for game vocals, but no long-term residual payments.

The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists have struck a three-and-a-half year agreement with videogame publishers to see that voice actors used in videogames are fairly compensated for their work. The previous deal expired at the end of 2004.

Today Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that Nintendo will operate one thousand wireless access points in Japan to encourage the growth of its online Nintendo DS games. Splinter Cell: CT for DS Goes Gold DS

The third game in the series is ready for its DS debut.

Ubisoft announced today that Splinter Cell Chaos Theory for Nintendo DS has gone gold. The game has already been released on many other platforms, including GameCube. The DS version is patterned closely after the console versions, right down to the gritty 3D graphics. However, the DS version has far more extensive multiplayer features than the GameCube version, which lacks the popular online mode found in the Xbox and PS2 versions.
