My fave part about firefox are all the plugins

Mouseclicker: theres a plugin that prevents exactly what you just mentioned.

oh, and "adblock" = most useful thing ever, never will i have to see another macromedia flash ad slowing down my computer, or hell, if i wanted, i could block berny's annoying avatar, in fact, i think i will!

Heh.  I was going to recommend that one to someone the other day, as I hear lots of nice things about it.  But given that I am not a Mac user, and completely unfamiliar with it, I just went with the good old "get Firefox" idea.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in it.

(for those who don't know, Camino is the old school Mac OS variant of Mozilla.)

Oops. Yeah I shoulda mentioned that, Grey. You can recommend it to your friend now off the recommendation of some random geek in a video game forum. ^_^ It is quality stuff. I am VERY pleased with it.

I don't know what's up with the 100px avatars myself...  they just look fugly to me.    I have a handy bookmarklet though that can reduce all the images on the page's size thing.  Yeah.  Man, english is just unpossible for me today.  (Interestingly enough, all my programming coworkers have had the same problem today.  I think there might be something to that.  Programming makes you dumb or something to that effect.)

Berny, your opinion means a little more to me because you have tried both the Mac Firefox and Camino.  I know that Firefox is hands down the best browser on Windows (and Linux), but I honestly don't know about Macs.

Oh, Firefox is quality stuff to be sure, but Camino is just better in my opinion. I remember you posting one of your websites created using W3C, Ninja (or at least I think it was you) and sure enough, Camino not only can read it, but it has some sources on the stuff in its bookmarks. Of course, I'm sure Firefox can do the same thing, but oh well. I am officially a Camino Fanboy. ^_^

Bleh, the last version of FireFox raped my PC. I had to go back to FireBird, which isn't anything to complain about. At least I didn't have to go back to IE and eat bacon on the moon with Chester Cheeseball.

I might check the latest version tonight, and maybe break my PC again. That'd require salsa.

Trouble in Paradise: Camino Woes
Aw poo. And I was really getting attached to Camino, too. My ongoing review of Camino has more news to report. Occasionally Camino has what I have dubbed "Scroll Burps." This occasionally occurs when you are trying to scroll by dragging the scroll bar and it does this weird thing where stuff repeats....yeah it's kida weird. But like right now, Infernal Monkey's avatar was like cut in half as started over again along with all the text next to it. If you are thinking of going Camino (although I'm pretty sure there's like ONE other Mac user on these forums ) use the scroll buttons. They seem to work fine. Okay scratch that: scrolling in Camino is teh suxorz. Not teh suxorz enough to make me go back to Firefox yet though. I'll stick it out a little longer.

Thanks for being the guinea pig, Berny.  I tried Firefox but it wouldn't open a window for me.  The icon just kept popping up on my dock over and over again as if it wanted to open but couldn't.  I know there is some way of correcting this but I don't care to bother with it.  I just dumped it's sorry @ss in the trash.  Sorry, Mr. Ninja

Too bad Camino stinks too.  Maybe next month when Firefox 1.0 comes out you can be the guinea pig once again?

Not a mac user, but curious, how does camino compare to firefox?  What is different?  Why do you like it more?

Ms. Pikmin, that same thing happened to me. The problem is that it is somehow confused by the fact that there is already a profile on your computer for Firefox. It stops bouncing if you delete your old Firefox.

Camino™ is a web browser optimized for Mac OS X with a Cocoa user interface, and powerful Gecko layout engine. It's the simple, secure, and fast browser for Mac OS X.

You can read all about Camino, Cocoa, and Gecko here. I also suggest you ask Ninja about Cocoa. I'm sure he could tell you something about it. At least I think I'm sure. I won't make promises for him though. You'll just have to ask him.

Berny, that was my first thought, except that I was under the impression the Ms. Pikmin had never installed Firefox before.  It doesn't make much sense to me to have to delete a profile that was just created.

Well then I don't know what Ms. Pikmin's problem is. But that EXACT same thing was happening to me. It was really weird. Firefox was bouncing up and down in my dock. When an app is open in OS X, a little black arrow appears under the icon in the dock after it bounces a few times and the arrow would appear and as soon as I tried to open my preferences or open a new window it would quit. No fun.

Maybe your Firefox is just mad at you for ever using IE.

I tried firefox 0.9 today, its missing a few of the extensions that i've gotten so used too.   However, just about everything else was much slicker and user-friendly.

I'll go back to it once they add in adblocker and a few other things i like.  But, for now, its still firefox .08

0.9 didn't have a popup blocker? That's funny. When I used it, it blocked popups and even counted them I think.

Adblocker is an extension that allows you to block images. Very nice for getting rid of ads and crap like that.

It is available for 0.9, Syl. It was the first extension I downloaded after installing 0.9.

Hmm, I can't find it on the extension page anymore either. When I downloaded it, it was in the top downloaded list.

Never fear though, cause you can download it direct from the Adblock homepage here!

cool, I was wondering as I remembered Thunderbird was once a browser, If memory serves correctly. it sucks now that spell check isn't included in OE,  I remember that it used to, I guess M$ charges for it seperately.

Wow, really? I haven't used OE in over a year.

Thunderbird is also a lot safer than OE, since OE opens up attachements automatically. Also it has a nice junk mail filter.

Heh, Yeah. I've been aware of all of IE's and OE's Faults, Especially the Security hole in IE. Thus why I switched browsers : ) Yeah OE hasn't had a spell checker included in a long time. it's there, but it's a faded icon that has no function. I take it that you have to buy something to get it to function like the rest.
