Donkey "Konga" Details

An article over at IGN explains it. Go take a read. I find it real dumb if Nintendo is heading in this direction.

So what if they release a game like this. It isn't like its a mainstay game of the franchise.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

Wouldnt it make more sense to partner with Konami or Sega rather than Namco for a music type game? Still if it comes with some cool perpherial, count me as a buyer... I still have my Samba de Amigo Maracas!

Hm...strange sounding game. When I first read it I was thinking, "MAN! Nintendo's screwing up DK." But those were my same thoughts on Zelda at first. (Didn't last long though.) I hope this is a good game. I don't want to come out and say right now that it's gonna be bad, because A) like MadMan said, we don't even know if this is legitimate yet and B) it may turn out to be a good game.

first of all dont panic yet- ign has been known to give some information that is questionable and even take it the wrong way
second- if it is donkey konga- then i may have to buy it- if anyone has played samba de amingo then you know how awesome music games with odd instruments can be- unfortunately it can be expensive...
but i doubt this is real yet- and i thought that miyamoto said before in an interview (with pgc i think) that there was a donkey kong being made internally by nintendo
maybe that game is this "donkey konga" and the platform game is being made by namco
i haven't heard of a music game made by namco as of yet, so it would be odd to partner with a company that has no experience with it
so my theory is that there could be 2 games being made now- i dont know if that is true but it makes sence to me
i call the big one bitey.

I think there might actually be three DK games in development.
Miyamoto once commented that there was a new DKC game in development that would be "2D meets 3D". So that's going to be the platformer. We probably won't see it for a while though since it will be the longest in development.
Nintendo has apparently been toying with a music game for a while. There were reports of a Pikachu music title a while ago. I think Nintendo just changed direction with the game and decided to make it a DK game instead. That's
"Donkey Konga".
As for Namco. Since Nintendo is making a new Pacman game, I think it's making a new version of the DK arcade game. That just makes the most sense since Namco is known for classic arcade games.

michael might have it here- i would agree with 3 titles in developement
basically nintendo and namco could create an "updated classics" game which would feature some new connectivity in old games to give them a new fresher feel- it would make sence since then they could actually put together these games and maybe some others- selling just pac-man might prove to be too expensive for most people
i just feel there has to be at least 2 donkey kong titles- miyamoto did say that the next donkey kong will be 2d meets 3d in an interview sometime so there has to be at least 2 if donkey konga is real
konga could prove to be an interesting title- i liked samba de amingo a lot so it could be good
we shall see soon hopefully
i call the big one bitey.

I want to play the konga drums to the beat of DK Rap haha that will be sweet. A lot of DK Country music is heavy konga also. Great idea , seems a lot of people are sketchy on the idea but maybe it will be in arcades in Japan also.

Namco has released a couple of drum games in Japan for PS2. The two games combined have sold about 900k.

Miyamoto said that there was a DK game being made within Ninty earlier this year(DK Next).  So don't give up all hope on a platformer just yet.

I dont see the problem with this? Its a spinoff off DK, and a much interesting spinoff than Tetra Trackers or 4 Swords... like others said, that doesnt mean that a DK game couldnt be made internally by Nintendo... It makes sense. Remember the DK game will be released VERY soon, a Music game would take far less than a plataformer. I didnt know that about Namco, still Segas Samba de Amigo is my favorite... I hope we get a pair of bannana yellow congos to jam with

Horrible Nintendo, just horrible. I mean seriously WTF. Do u actually think were gonna pay $50 for that. No I don't care how inovative this is it's retarded and it won't work. JUST GIVE US WHAT WE WANT AND STOP screwing around with new ideas. I'm not gonna buy a Donky Kong came so I can bang on the drums. WTF do u think were all 3 years old or something. I mean that might be appealing to a 3 year old. U could make a Congo playset or something if u need to satisfy child needs that bad but come on A VIDEO GAME?? Dear God Nintendo what r u doing?

If you don't watch your attitude, you will be banned.  Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it a terrible idea. Plenty of gamers get into this kind of thing. -Bloodworth

Taiko No Tatsujin, a PS2 Japan-only title

I'm sick of constant bashing on games that have little info released on them.  One, how bout you wait and see how it's like, instead of this childish *****ing?  Two, drum games are incredibly popular in Japan.  So this game focuses more on that audience.

Music games?  Music games are very cool.  Parappa the Rapper 2 is an awesome PS2 game.  This could very well be better, if it comes to exist.

What would make this game really cool would be the inclusion of classic Nintendo music, if that was in there I would instantly buy it.

Geeze, Nintendo keeps getting fruitier! Let's just hope Mario 128 doesn't become some tetris-esque puzzle game.
