The Language Game
« on: February 10, 2017, 06:32:41 PM »
The Goal of the Language game is to make up a sort of Meta language. We type out questions and if someone can answer them with no knowlege of this fake language then they get to make up their own question.

Qud je flez antwort mi Cuezon? Hew mach toz en Switch kozt an Merika?

Edit: Also, no making up questions until you have verified that the last question has been solved. This may take a group effort in a Wheel of Fortune sort of way. Some of us may see parts of the answer. Teamwork might be key for solving the meaning of the question and answering it.

"Could you please answer my question? "

Do I have to?

"How much does the Switch cost in America?"

Oh, bollocks. $299.99, ya bloody idiot.

Evan_B has it right. That's what my question is.

Is that last part "But it's all good!" ?

Not. I originally just made random pairings together that sounded like they might have a language with rules. After I posted, I then figured someone might try to actually decode it so I thought about creating a possible meaning for the words based on their sound and how it answers the question. I've come up with a meaning that I think would work and fit but you're not quite there if you do want to try and decode it.

Well, since Evan_B decoded the question part. We can move on to Evan_B's question. While working on the translation of that statement on the side.

Evan_B's question was

Brudchitch weehaw sweetichum delfa?

I'm guessing Sweetichum is Switch? Weehaw might be Wii or Wii U?

My guess is "Prefer Wii or Switch?" or Maybe "Buying Switch at launch?" "From where can I buy a Switch?"

or maybe something about the show Broadchurch

am I close?

I guess other people guess based around my answers? Or which words are correct hint.

The first question was solved pretty fast because I used cognitive hints in the sentence. Any person familiar with Germanic languages would have solved it. Or someone who simply sounded it out. So, we really don't have a precedent on how to handle a hint system. There is a little more experimental room than say the movie game.

Oddly as a joke somtimes I call Del Taco Delta Co.

So Triangle meant 3, which was a month? That's kinda cool. But I was so close. So close, I'll move forward and make up another one. It's going to be hard in another way.

The hint/key is: Alligator.

I think the first word in this collection of symbols is alligator. The pattern works with the repeating letters in Alligator. However, if I compare these patterns to stevey's answer in the Mafia thread, the T is the wrong symbol. Moreover, if I try to start applying the letters of alligator to what I believe are the corresponding symbols, I end up with one word this is "L A _ I" and I'm not sure of any letter that can go in that blank spot to make a word so I'm stumped on this right now.

Well, I can give a hint about it. It is a constructed script, but it is based on real world scripts. Mainly Arabic and katakana(Japanese).

In English/Latin Script T and t are the same letter. G and g are the same letter. Their glyph though is different in capital and lowercase.

I think the best thing to do is look for patterns.

Also, you might want to look up the Gordian knot.
