I'm buying a Wii U for a lot more than this.  I think one game I really hope for is a sequel or spiritual successor to Xenoblade Saga.

I love how in the Japanese Nintendo Direct they teased Monolith Soft but showed nothing. They know how high we regard them.

I know it's a bit of an old topic, but no one's talking about the new footage Game Explain posted, or the stuff IGN featured on their site?  You've got footage of Morton Koopa Jr and Bowser Jr battles, pictures of Boom Boom and Kamek and all sorts of stuff.

Have to say, I'm getting more excited by every batch of new screens and videos.  You can also see some summaries here:

This all sounds very exciting. It's nice that we can carry Yoshi's from one stage to the next! Too bad it's only baby Yoshi's.

It does sound more and more like a Super Mario World type game. It will be that way for me if there really are secrets up the wazoo. There is just something about finding a secret door in a Mario title that leads to a completely different area and shape shifting the land.

I keep going more and more toward buying this game at launch, the more I see of it. The Challenge mode is the main draw for me, as well as the off-TV play.

Wait, you weren't planning to buy it at launch before?

I guess I can see why, after New Super Mario Bros 2 everyone's a bit skeptical of the NSMB series.

I was a big fan of NSMB2, and didn't really care for what I played of NSMBU. That, plus playing NSMB2 and replaying 3D Land so close to U's release made me hesitant.

My only care about 2D platformers and what I feel is the most important part of one is the level design, and from what I've seen, NSMBU looks spectacular. The added features like the world map and extra modes are just gravy to me right now.

NSMB U was always going to end up great.  The team that's making it is the same that did NSMB DS and Wii.  NSMB DS was their first full 2D Mario game and NSMB Wii was their second.  There was a huge jump in quality between the two games which showed the team has a lot of talent and is learning fast.  If NSMB U has the same type of jump in quality that there was between NSMB DS and Wii, which is very likely, it's going to be fucking incredible.

Wait a sec, so there are THREE Mario teams now? The Team that did the Galaxy games and 3D Land, the team that did NSMB DS and Wii and U, and the young team that did NSMB2?

Anyways... I have to say, Nintendo is totally trying to screw up my plans to NOT get this game at launch.

Galaxy 1 and 2 were made by two different teams with two different directors inside Tokyo studio. Galaxy 2 team then made 3D Land.
NSMB series is being made by EAD 4 and NSMB2 was made by interns of that studio basically.

I can't wait when they will reveal what has Galaxy 1 team, EAD Tokyo 1, has been doing all this years!

Galaxy 1, 2 and 3D Land were all made by the same team.  All 3 games contain most of the same staff including the most important members, directors and level designers.  The only differences are some got promoted to higher positions with each game but they're still all part of the same team.

What happened was Tokyo EAD used to be one team but then after the first Mario Galaxy, Nintendo decided to split it into two.  The majority of the team including all the key Mario members became Tokyo EAD 2 with Yoshiaki Koizumi being promoted to a producer in charge of the new team.  This is why Wikipedia list the first Galaxy as a Tokyo EAD 1 game because when it was made by the one team, Takao Shimizu, was the producer in charge of the entire studio.

After the split he was still in charge of Tokyo EAD 1, which is why whoever wrote the Wikipedia page list Galaxy 1 as one of his studio's games, even though all the key people who made it moved to Tokyo EAD 2.  Only a small group of people are left at Tokyo EAD 1 which is why they're only a support studio that helps co-produce games with other studio's like Grezzo for the 3DS Zelda ports or makes DSiWare games like Jibun de Tsukuru Nintendo DS Guide.

So Tokyo EAD 1 is probably helping Grezzo with the next 3DS Zelda while Tokyo EAD 2 is making the next 3D Mario for the Wii U.

Does Nintendo own Grezzo? Or are they just another developer they work with under contract (like Monster Games, Good Feel, and Next Level Games)?

They're a separate developer like Monster, Good Feel and Next Level Games.

Nintendo, mission accomplished. My launch budget will need to be refactored now...sigh...

It's nice that when I(an Sane) play single player I can use nothing but buttons. I never had much of a problem with waggle to spin but it would be nice if we were given the option.

I would assume the game supports Wii U Pro Controllers in multiplayer, which would allow you to play with just buttons there as well.

I liked the ad. I don't care for the music choice, but I'm not going to act as if it's the worst thing ever heard or some hyperbole like that. The Hollywood Squares setup for these ads is pretty cool, I think.

So does that mean it will be a skimpy game then if it is small enough to be a download or does it mean the disc will have more features and content?
