A dog has been elected the mayor of Cormorant, in Minnesota.
Duke, 7, received over 50% more votes then his closest human competitor in the election to be named honorary mayor of the town in the midwestern United States.

Residents were thrilled with the announcement and claim Duke makes the community a safer place to live, reports The Metro newspaper.

Cormorant local Tricia Maloney told WDAY6: "He won by a landslide.

"He doesn't know how to handle this publicity."

The pooch will be officially sworn in to his new position on saturday (16.08.14).

Looking into Duke's cross-eyed expression, I question his mental ability to perform the job and wonder if a horrible mistake has just been made. He only won because he had the most money after selling the secret recipe for Bush's Baked Beans. Turns out, it's Duke sneezing on it.

Frankly, it is kind of sad it took a dog so long to become Mayor. Stubbs the cat has been mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska since 1997. Then there's Tama the cat who'd been a station master since 2007 in Japan and she even has 2 cat assistants. Cats have long had positions of civil service and proven their usefulness. Lazy dogs.

Part of the brand’s newest video campaign, Pizza Cat! is a completely fictional Pizza Hut location “run” entirely by cats. Run used only loosely of course, since the cat’s don’t ever really work. Instead, they sleep through alarms, stare at ringing telephones, claw at delivery bikes, and literally ride roombas all around the store.
Along with a video series highlighting the cats’ daily shenanigans, Pizza Cat! also got its own nifty website detailing the cats even further. There’s even a little disclaimer stating that if your pizza doesn’t arrive, it’s simply because the cats lost their motivation, please excuse them.
See, not so different from humans after all.

This is the harbinger of doom. And some people are worried about the $15 min wage in Seattle or "illegals" stealing the jobs. I'm worried for the day cats become a protected class and we have to meet hiring quotas. I'm allergic so it could be a workplace hazard for me but I'm already being persecuted because "being allergic is a choice".
