As far as I can understand, he's saying that if you dump the ROM with that device, get an appropriate controller, and use the SNES9x port for Wii, you can get a fairly authentic experience.  I assume his comment about regretting it has to do with the fact that he could have just dumped the games himself instead of having to search through ROM sites trying to find them again.

That's just my interpretation.

I foresee that you will live to regret this offense against the Nintendo Gods

This + classic/hori/snes controller + This >>> ReBuying your game collection with heavily modified ROMs (especially Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and OoT)

=?

Crap, the forum cut off the ending.

No, it's much, much better than that. It allows real time reading of the carts, without dumping them, like they were being played with a SNES/Genesis. (It can also read and save data onto the carts!) Assuming you got the SNES/NES/N64->GC controller adapter, you can transform the Wii into a SNES, Genesis, NES, N64, and GC system at a whim; perfectly backward compatibility with every Nintendo system ever made and then-some! I'm personally planing on modifying my Wii case to look just like my SNES. It might be just me, but the idea of an uber system that can play any and every game worth playing is a gamer's dream.

more info on the adapter

Both times I sold consoles (not counting the GameCube and GBC that I had newer consoles with full backward compatibility for) I ended up regretting it and re-buying them a couple years later.

Oh wow, that's even cooler than I had initially thought.  I assume it's possible to copy the resulting .smc file to disk, though, right?  As cool as it is to play right off the cartridge, I like the convenience of being able to select from a list rather than having to swap cartridges each time I want to change games.

and no, I don't want to change it, and you can't make me

That's why I can never sell anything because I know I'll regret it.
