He's so-so/not that great. Destroys Viper though, apparently.

Tiers don't seem to be a super big deal in this one and I think we'll see that reflected in the future, especially since so much of the gameplay in Street Fighter games is emergent. I seem to remember the Street Fighter guy-in-charge express an interest in balancing the game moreso via patches but not for like a year.

Just wait a few months.  Right now the tiers aren't that important because there's no clear tier list since the game is still very new and people are still learning about the characters.  Once the game ends up having a clear tier list, that's when all hell breaks lose.  This is the fate of all fighting games and it'll never change.

Even if Capcom does release patches, that'll just result in a new tier list being formed that everyone will flock to.

Came out in the Japanese arcades 7 months ago and it's pretty clear Sagat is on top

I think they could have even used the karate Kid song..."You're the Best".

Gametrailers, during their coverage of the game made some trailers with said song. It just seemed right.

Quote
It'd be like watching Rambo, and having some Backstreet Boy song suddenly start playing while he's blowing everyone away.  It just doesn't work.

Imagine a trailer with Rambo with a machine gun with the background music "I want it that way." It'd be crazy enough to work.[you are...my fire..] while he's blasting people away [/off topic]

I must be missing the joke. Do they have some infinite combo exploits or something?

If you're a horrible then playing against a Ken or Zangeif can be a bitch. Loser Ken players just spam the hell out of Shoryuken and ****** Geif players just continuously use the double Lariat. Easy to beat, it's just gets tsale and boring fighting the same lame tactics everytime.

About the most I remember from my Street Fighter days was on the Genesis; Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition. I remember accidentally making Vega climb up the cage in the background of a level and them flip down on the opponent, slicing them up. Ah, Vega always was my favorite. :)

Tried this tonight. I like the anime story scenes before and after each character campaign. The game seems pretty hard even on easy settings.

I think it's just because some characters are broken...like Zangief, Abel, and Seth. Focus attacks are hard to master and combo off of. The game is still addictive though.

None of the characters are broken, really (except I can't really speak for Seth as nobody really plays him). Sagat still seems 'best' but not so much that nobody plays anybody else.

yeah, I was wrong, and got carried away. It's just that tornado grapple throw that gets on my dayum nerves! I actually like Albel most of all the new characters. Wish I could say the same for El Fuerte...

Yeah, I hate that tornado grapple too; I don't like any moves that can't be as easily stopped by the opponent as other moves (at least I don't know how to).

It's not just his Tornado grapple, Zangief can basically grab you before you hit the ground. The hit detection box is way too big for certain moves. I once got grabbed and tornadoed before getting up from the first tornado.

If anyone wants to fight in the street, send me a request.  My GT is: MNC Dover.  I've been playing SF since the arcade days of SF2 and know how to hold my own.  I'm also up for showing new players the ropes or get general strategies for specific characters (well, maybe not the new guys yet, but the others should be fine.)

Played this game heavily during the weekend. It definitely feels like a classic Capcom fighting game, although with a tad more polish, including some actual story scenes (though like in any good fighting game it doesn't make any sense).

The one thing I noticed is that the AI in the single player mode reacts weirdly. For example, when I play as Viper against Abel all he does is grab and use his throw move over and over. I had to create a strategy where I could give him some damage and I am away so he doesn't grab me.

I have been playing this game for a couple weeks and there is only one thing that pisses me off about it; the lack of multiple super moves.

When you have more than one super move, that means you have more than one super combo, which means you have more ways to destroy your opponent. Also, I liked the fact that one super move would cause more damage than the rest, but was harder to pull off.

Other than that, I think it's a well made game (except for the online mode which is the DUMBEST WAY to incorporate online).

No photos right now, but I can get some tomorrow if you want to see them.  I have to mention though, that it IS my first stick, so I don't think it's anything special.

Oh god.. El Fuerte..

I played this game at a friends house a few weeks ago and it was pretty cool. I didn't try out alot of the new characters because i knew i didn't have alot of time to play before leaving, so to get the most enjoyment out of my time iwth the game i stuck to the classic characters i knew from my days playing SFII:Turbo. One of the few times i did play with a new character, was with El Fuerte and the second i had a look at his move set.. i was amused and appalled at the same time. Its ridiculous how stereotypical these move names are, but i'm not the tpe to make a big deal about it because i dont get offended at stupid things like this. Good thing he's such a crappy character so i dont imagine many people playing as him, or else it'd get brought up constantly during those "capcom are racists" arguments.
