BTW - I HIGHLY recommend PS3 users go with the optional install from the options menu (its automatic on the 360).  This will reduce the load time before a fight from 20 secs to 6.  Thats a savings of 23 minutes per 100 fights!  That 23 minutes can then be used to watch an old episode of Silver Spoons on Hulu from your browser.

How big is the install file?

No idea, but well worth it, considering I've watching 5 episodes of Silver Spoons already.

Installation is optional on the system that always comes with a hard drive and mandatory on the system that doesn't?  We need a smiley with one eyebrow raised for this one.

ARGH.  Amazon pushed the ship date back on my Mad Catz SFIV FightPad to mid April.  This is so f-ing annoying.  I don't have the game yet, and now I won't have the FightPad for 2 months.

You really don't want that controller. It's quite terrible. The D-Pad is actually worse than the one on the standard 360 controller.

What's exactly wrong with the dpad, I was going to possibly buy a 360 one for arcade games but I might as well just get a arcade stick for all 3 systems.

So I finally sat down to play this game, and I must say that the Xbox 360 controller is not great for this game at all.  A SNES controller or Arcade stick is what you need.

Luckily my friend had an arcade stick and I got to play the game how it was supposed to be played.

The game overall seems fairly balanced, although there are the core characters that seem to be overly powered and full of cheese.

However, I think the move to 3D wasn't as great as I would have hoped.  Many of the models just don't look right to me.

Chun Li seems too young and her head too small.
Blanka is just stupid looking.

The over exaggerated Super Combos aren't that cool and take you out of the game.

I like the game, but I feel Street Fighter 3 was a bigger step forward for the game, and retained the classic game play.  I wish we could of had a 2D Street Fighter for 4...and included more character from both the Street Fighter universe.  Why aren't there any players from Street Fighter 3?

I would also like an answer to this question, as everything I've read about the FightPad has been positive.

How many people here are investing or already have a fight stick vs using an ordinary controller?  If you do have a fight stick, how do you play it?  Place it on a coffee table and lean over, or put it on a stand like you're in the arcade?  I'd like to have one, but then I wouldn't be able to lay back and play.

I bought the CAPCOM FIGHTER POWER STICK back in the SNES days.

$80 controller was a big deal back in the day.

Blanka looks the same as he did in the Alpha series, and there aren't any characters from Street Fighter 3 because most people don't even remember it outside of Internet message boards.

Like most 3rd party controllers, the Madcatz SFIV controller feels cheap. The D-Pad is especially chinsy, worse than Microsoft's own D-Pad which I loathe beyond all reason. I guess it really depends on whether you like the floating/sliding D-pad. I don't; it feels like its broken. The controller is also wired. Do you really want to buy a wired controller for $40 in 2009?

Bottomline: it's more comfortable than the 360 controller for playing SFIV (6 face buttons > 4 face buttons). In my opinion, it's just not worth anywhere near $40.

Well Saturn had a floating dpad and that was arguably one of the best 2d controllers ever. The reason why the 360 dpad sucks is because you can't get it to do what you want it to do. Also the only reason that the 360 one is wired is because of Microsoft, they don't want to give out their proprietary wireless tech, the PS3 pads are wireless via a USB dongle.

I dunno, I'm fine with the analog stick, though I've found that anything but the most basic combos I can only pull off completely randomly lol. I love actual arcade machine controls, but the Soul Calibur II arcade joystick I own for Xbox/PS2/GCN is somewhat awkward to use.

I have the Hori Fighting Stick EX2 (360)/Hori Soul Calibur IV Arcade Stick (PS3).  They're identical.  I play with them in my lap, but my wrist does start to hurt after a while.  It works, though.  No idea what I'm going to do when the MadCatz Tournament Stick comes though.  I may have to move out of my apartment.

LOVE the game.

I'm using a Hori Real Arcade Pro with sanwa stick+buttons and a replacement octagonal gate on the stick. I usually sit with one leg crossed but it falls asleep after a while. If I sit on the floor with my legs crossed, I can play for hours, though. If you're serious about getting a good fight stick, get a Real Arcade Pro - the EX sticks seem like a waste in comparison.

Things I really like about this game: having two super meters, the decent accessibility (my friends are getting into it), the great music and general Street-Fighterness.

Everybody online plays as Ken. Lol. He's not even that good! I like playing the weird guys like Abel, Dhalsim, and Vega - people don't really know what the ****, even though they aren't really high tier.

Blarg Sagat is top tier. How very CVS2.

I've heard it's based loosely also on the original Genesis 6 Button pad, which is my favorite pad of all time, so I'm not worried about not liking the feel of the pad.  Also, I don't think the 360 D-Pad is QUITE as bad as I've heard it made out to be.  I can pull off my moves most of the time, and when I didn't, I don't feel like it's the D-Pad's fault.

I'm buying the new MadCatz pad (eventually, grrr amazon) because of the 6 button layout more than I am for the D-Pad.
