How popular is the Mario & Luigi series in Japan?  It not only topped SFIV in Japan, but doubled its sales.

I would have NEVER though something like a DS game could top a hype machine that is SFIV.

I know its disheartening, but that game couldn't get released outside of one country.  It's like iPhones being sold only in Antartica and can't go elsewhere because Emperor Penguins hold the rights to the product's distribution.  And you're not going to get anything out of those penguins.

Actually, the SF series seems more alive than ever now. Sometimes a new paint job is all that's needed to refresh something. At least for shallow people like me...

This game is great so far, but MAN, what were they thinking with that intro song!!??

Its like they asked Disney to re-create a dance song from 1993.

A gay friend of mine just said that the intro to Street Fighter 4 is the gayest thing she has ever seen.

I'm surprised they didn't use Faith No More - Epic since that trailer was one of the first Street Fighter 4 trailers.

Aren't you supposed to be saving up for a wedding?  Where do you get all this money?  Can I have some?  ;D

That's just the lifestyle that being Director of this website affords me.

Game is great, but I'm going to take my time with it...learn all the moves via Challenge/Trial mode.  I'm not even going to BOTHER with online for a while.

I think they could have even used the karate Kid song..."You're the Best". Instead they got some Japanese boy band to sing the song.

Its like they asked Disney to re-create a dance song from 1993.

Why is there boy band in my Street Fighter?  That has got to be the most out of place song I've ever heard in a videogame.  It doesn't fit the game or it's style one bit.

It'd be like watching Rambo, and having some Backstreet Boy song suddenly start playing while he's blowing everyone away.  It just doesn't work.

I STILL haven't gotten my copy of SFIV in the mail yet, so I've been putting a lot of time into SSF2THD:R, and am actually surprised to find that I'm winning about 33% of my matches online.  I figured it'd be a lot closer to 0%.

Yeah, its a HUGE WTF.  You're the Best Around would have been perfect to.

Another WTF is the boss Seth.  What the hell kind of name is Seth for a boss?!  He looks like the poor man's Silver Surfer, and he's cheap as all hell, even on easy.

They should have gone with a more modern god, like Tom Cruise.

Question. If you are someone, like, well me, who liked Street Fighter 2 along with the Turbo edition, is this game worth getting even though I've missed out on every iteration since then?

Apparently, SFIV is closer to SFII in terms of gameplay than the Alpha or III series. A friend of mine really misses the parry system from III, but if you haven't played anything after II, you should feel right at home.

I may get this eventually but for some reason Tatsunoko Vs Capcom still appeals to me more, I didn't get it yet because import price is high and I will probably get a copy once I know that I will be employed.

.
I was in the exact same boat.  The only other fighting games I got into were MK2, Clayfighter TE, and Killer Instinct.  That said, this game was very easy to jump into, and I'm loving every minute of it.  Well.....except for the minutes I'm online as I get totally shredded, but thats only temporary.

BTW - I HIGHLY recommend PS3 users go with the optional install from the options menu (its automatic on the 360).  This will reduce the load time before a fight from 20 secs to 6.  Thats a savings of 23 minutes per 100 fights!  That 23 minutes can then be used to watch an old episode of Silver Spoons on Hulu from your browser.

Don't worry you'll be fine.  After playing the game for several hours last night, I can say that Street Fighter 4 is pretty much another version of Street Fighter 2 except with some new characters and big super moves.

So anyone that was a fan of Street Fighter 2 will instantly be able to play the game and have fun with it.  The only people I can see having trouble would be big fans of Street Fighter 3 since the parry system is gone now.

I find myself humming the intro song.  Is that weird?  ;)

I've got everyone unlocked at this point except Seth.  On to new colors and taunts.  Woot!  I'm still up for helping anyone new to the series out on the 360.
