Pyropizm! for starting the game of mafia.
Alright. Maybe not the best way to show people how this special achievement thing works since I'm cheating a bit by honoring Pyropizm for two things. But they kind of go hand in hand.
Let's face it. The reason we have this board and have this neat little subculture on the forums is because of Pyropizm. If you look at the interest thread, S-U-P-E-R started the thread but he did so after talking to Pyro who had played the game before. Then Pyro came and explained it further and got support for it going. He then created not just the first game but the first three games which still is the longest consecutive hosting record for our mafia games. On that point, he could probably get a special achievement for hosting but I'm sticking to this one point for now.
Another thing Pyro did by starting mafia up was show that it could be different each time. All his games had different roles and each game was seperate from the last. He didn't keep the same template for all the games. I think that has helped lead to the freedom which causes all new hosts to feel free to experiment and try new roles for their games keeping the game fresh each time and not becoming stale.
Right now, this forum has more posts than almost half the other boards on this forum. We just need to pass the staff blog and then we are in the top 50 percent of boards. Of course, if Pale had ever actually followed through on the idea of moving all the mafia topics from the funhouse to this board, we would probably be way ahead.
It is by Pyropizm that many of the players still playing learnt this game. Look at the players still around. Vudu, Nickmitch, Pale, Stevey, Dasmos, RABicle and Shyguy. Even if this was the last game of mafia played, it is still quite an amazing feat for Pyropizm and one of two things he helped usher on these boards. The other would be helping to get the podcast going if my memory serves me correctly. Even if Pyro shows up rather infrequently now, he has helped give NWR two defining staples. And, personally, I prefer this one a whole lot more.
So here's to you Pyropizm. Your legacy should not be the Pangya review (although it probably won't be forgotten either.) You helped start other things that have lasted long after your sad departure. Most notably to me, Mafia. Everyone, raise a beer.
