The fact that I don't have it...Its a MAJOR design flaw, in my opinion.

I miss the announcer for the menus too Ceric . . .

Honestly, I was expecting him first thing when I hit start (or play or w/e) the button is on the Wii menu to begin the game.

- I wish My Music allowed you to pick a few songs to play in an order or something, so many awesome tracks . . .

Actually nintendo failed to us again! I tried shaking the remote but no smash attack at all, no matter what I did.

Did you turn on the "Shake Smash" option in the custom controller options? I got it to work, I didn't like it because I couldn't get it to be accurate enough as opposed to buttons.

The ONLY reason people prefer the GameCube controller over say, the remote nunchuk or classic controller setup is because they are used to the GameCube layout.  I'm guilty of this.

Nintendo doesn't really have any incentive to make any more remotes and confuse people further.

Not sure if that is true, at least in my case. I haven't really played Melee since it launched, and yet the other control options just don't work for me, I find the GC one vastly more comfortable.

  • Melee Menu Music not selectable for the Menu Music in My Music I like it as a menu music better because it comes across more energetic

It's unlockable once you get all the characters, unless you're talking about something else. The menu is listed under Melee stages, if you don't see it.

Speaking of control options . . . (and please someone correct me if I am wrong) the fact that the shoulder buttons on the cube controller no longer activate the shield unless fully pressed down is still throwing me off a lot . . .

I understand why it no longer works like it used to but still.

Sweet.  I have it unlocked elsewhere.

Yeah, Shake smashing is off by default and its like c-sticking.  It does matter which direction you move the Wiimote.

silly me! I'l check it tonight. I really like the option because it makes fights more random and fun. I'll only use the GC when facing impossible bosses or something. I already suck at the game anyway.

And yes, apparently GC shoulder buttons are never used properly in VC games or in Brawl, you really shouldn't have to press all the way down and I don't think it would be a difficult thing to program such behaviour in the games.

Does anyone know EXACTLY how to unlock the level switch? I've heard about it, and I've unlocked additional rules but it's not in there.

I'd really like to shut off some of the more irritating levels...

EDIT: I think I figured it out. I bet I have to unlock Big Blue by playing as Falcon enough times. Once all levels are unlocked, I bet it opens.

I did notice the shield being hard to put up but I hardly ever shield (I'm very frantic in fighting games) so I didn't mind.

That's why I did too. What did I unlock, though? What's the "level switch"?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it lets you select levels you don't want to play on while choosing a random stage.

So...

I have NEVER had on of my custom stages that are on my SD card come up during random stage selection.  I have had the sample stages and daily stages come up on multiple occasions.  This is TOTALLY lame if that's the case and Nintendo fails at SD support again.

Wow, that is quite a small nit to pick. You can't manually select them? Or just move them to the memory? They're one block each.

I could theroetically have like 1000 stages on their eventually.  That isn't possible with regular memory.

Also, if it is true, it's another nail in the Nintendo memory management failure coffin.

You won't have 1,000 stages on there if you keep deleting the best ones...

my only real nitpick for now is the complete absence of the different scores (you know, the "KO 64" or "Smash King"... unless they are hidden or something)

I loved the score based matchs in melee :(

Yeah, I don't get why they took them out, but I actually didn't like Bonus matches in Melee; I know the results weren't arbitrary, but it always seemed like it...

I can pretty much confirm that this is in fact the case, after extensive testing.

Custom stages stored on SD cards will NEVER come up if brawling with random stage selection.

I was glad for that; it both creates continuity with Melee and gives Ike and Marth different cultural personalities. It's not like Ike's dialogue was so great you wanted twice as much of it anyway...
