Sakurai loved Muddy, and my beef was that, if any MOLE should be playable, it should be Resetti.

So basically, this is one of those "If I go down I'm taking you with me" things? :p

Anything which saves Sakurai from a box of fire ants, sure.

I suspect he is still getting a box of ants, no matter how polished Brawl is. :p

I like the challenges screen because now at least I will know how much I have left to do.

EDIT: I wonder how one gets a hold of one of them Golden Hammers?

The challenges screen reminds me A LOT of the Krypt in the recent Mortal Kombat games, except that instead of earning coins in order to unlock them you beat events.

I have this gut feeling that you'll also be able to unlock stages and characters this way.

With this update the last week of updates before the Japanese release begins. Will Falcon and/or Sheik be revealed? Will Sakurai drop a megaton? Or will the megatons be dropped by the fans?

I would assume that the stages and characters are the ones that can't be accessed via golden hammer.

"Trophies, stickers, music..."

Thats what the update says, anyway.

EDIT:

Khushrenada beat me to mentioning Kirby Air Ride.

Mmmm. Smash Bros. The ultimate Kirby game. Really, there are so many elements of Smash Bros. taken from the Kirby games. Like the challange screen. As soon as I saw it, I said to myself, that comes from Kirby's Air Ride. And sure enough, it follows that same pattern. In fact, now that I think about it, the Smash Bros. Menu's remind me a bit of the Kirby Air Ride menu's also.
Whoever said, "Cheaters never win" must've never met Khushrenada.

True... but that may not always be the case... although you probably are right... I just did not really think it all the way through...

This game just gets more and more epic with every update.  I never played Pikmin (go ahead and kill me) but I really like the completely different style that Olimar brings to the table.  It is rare for the biggest game of the year to be released so early but without a huge sleeper hit I don't see anything to rival it.

Can you post impressions in another thread pap?  This thread is already on number 2 so I figure that if people want to talk about tiny details like missile canceling and damage percentages we should get a new thread going.

Cute, but this is the week before Brawl's launch.

I expected that Sakurai would set the hype phasers to "overdrive" by now.

Honestly, if he has nothing left for these next five updates, he'll have missed a golden opportunity.

Though, I fully expect to see any remaining 3rd party characters revealed before launch happens. If not, he's wasted a huge opportunity to induce hype, especially in crowds which might not care about the game unless their favorite character is suddenly revealed.

I still expect the megatons to be dropped by everyone BUT Sakurai. Which is funny, because Sakurai admitted that the secret characters get leaked anyway, yet he is keeping the characters hidden as if his life depended on it.

I just want for someone to finally post impressions and videos if only for the speculation to end.

I'd punch my own groin until I passed out if it would end all this goddamn speculation and reveal the final roster.

It's not that I even care THAT much, it's just that I want all the fake leaks to stop once and for all.

Well, Sakurai never said that the characters would be leaking out a week before release...

The problem with that is if Sakurai was planning on revealing all the characters before release why didn't Sakurai reveal any new characters for two whole months? And in the two weeks prior to release he has so far revealed only ONE character.

This leads me to believe that either this are the only characters we are getting or Sakurai is keeping them a secret.

I too am getting that feeling. I expect at least one more third party character, but that's going to be it. Some fans, IGN included, are saying to ignore Sakurai's claims of only 3 third party characters being in the game. But Sakurai has not put any effort into revealing any more characters.

How can there be more than 3 characters if Sakurai has not flooded the interwebs with information?

But my point stands, I think this might be it for the final roster. Maybe one more surprise, but that's it.
