I love Nintendo World Report. It's the only site I've found so far that really focuses on news daily... mind you I have not really gone looking all that much. But, when a site gets too over run with adds, it ruins the fun. One or two at the top I don't mind. But when you highlight the forum link on the main page, and a pop thing that looks like an add shows up, then the add in the main article, and then the add in the right hand side of the article. There is also, finally, an un-blockable add that pops up as it's own page whenever you click on a news item. 'NWR brought too you today, by..'

If you guys are trying too discourage new site visitors in order too drive traffic costs down, you're doing a good job

. In a way, it's almost counter productive. the more adds you put on a page too try and stay active, the more visitors you loose too similair sites with less annoying adverts in place.

I'm off my soap box now, as I really don't want too have too find another reliable Nintendo site

Neil, I feel your pain, man. Seeing ads everywhere sucks. That being said, NWR is extremely costly to keep up, so we need those ads to stay afloat. We would never charge readers for content, so this is really the only way. Again, it's a total bummer, but the alternative is even worse.

I'm sure Kairon would be willing to contribute to the upkeep, he would only need to sacrifice several 3rd party games.

You could away start selling stuff on the site like t-shirts/E3 dvds/staff positions

Sell T-Shirts with pictures of the staff on them. I'd buy a shirt with a huge picture of Jonny's face on it in a heartbeat.

Do you have Adblock or Adblock Plus? Adblock Plus will take care of ALL ads, with subscription to the default filter.

I don't really like the overtake ads. I'm glad to see they don't mark all threads in the forum as "read" anymore, but they are obnoxious. Intellitext is the worst thing ever created.

You must be internetting wrong, because with Adblock on I don't see any ads on NWR. Update your version of Firefox and Adblock if you haven't already.

And do a check with your antivirus/anti-malware software, you may have picked up something that's producing ads no matter what site you visit.

I wonder if NWR got some Kane and Lynch ad revenue in exchange for... some things, then maybe NWR could cut down on the amount of ads.

I Only use AOL Radio because the last time I tried, XM Radio cut out after an hour of use. I like too leave XM on all night...'On the Rock's station is great music to sleep to

Whenever you guys say something like this, I think "well, I know plenty of popular sites whose ads are less odious than NWR's, so NWR must be doing something wrong." But then I remember that most popular gaming websites are just as badly infested with obnoxious ads as NWR (see: Gamespot.) So, do companies just not pay gaming websites as much for ad space as other sites? I can't imagine why that'd be, you'd think they'd pay more for the privilege of advertising to young males with disposable incomes.

It was a different fan site. SHINE GET was from PGC. White is from NWR.

I proposed a DVD before E3 2006, but I recall Jonny saying something to the effect of it not being worth all of the work that has to be put into it, and that nobody really buys DVDs of gaming events anymore.

As for affiliates, that's from WAY back in the day. The site is completely independent these days.
