Seems like an awesome mod, I'm going to check it out soon.

The key word here is seems.  Unfortunately, it falls short.  I can't get past level 2 or 3 (can't remember which, offhand).  So far, the levels are built competently enough, but they're really not much fun because they seem to rely more on taking advantage of the shortcomings of the physics engine than actual problem solving.

It's free, so don't let me dissuade you from trying it out.  However, I walked away disappointed.  I'll go back sometime in the next couple weeks and try again.

I played Prelude and got through the first level.  The thing that really annoyed me was how much talking there is and how every time you died you basically had to listen to the entire conversation again before you could do anything.  Also, the voices are done with text to talk and they really sound awkward.  Given that this was made unofficially though it is still pretty impressive.

When I have more free time I might give it another try.

You're probably referring to the section immediately after you grabbed the portal gun.  I agree--that part was annoying as hell.  After I died about a half a dozen times (and listened to the damn 30 second conversation every time) I finally had the brilliant idea to save *after* the conversation instead of rely on the quick-save from immediately *before*.  After attempting another half dozen times, I finally beat the damn level.

It was the level after that where I got stuck, so I guess I'm still on level 2.  I feel shame.

Hey NWR, I just started playing Portal, the real game, for the 1st time and I think I'm stuck on level 18.

I've unlocked the sliding platform (who knew you'd have to trap yourself in that room to keep it open?) and the companion cube is up top, and the button is on the bottom. How do I get to the companion cube? It seems impossible?

Does anyone remember?

edit: Nevermind. I figured it out. small platform down below & off to the right

Now I need help.

I'm on level 19. I passed this thing that shoots rockets at me, it has a purple eye.
I used the portals to get it to shoot out the glass in the next room, and then I used a chair and climbed through the air duct.
now I'm stuck in the fan with no where to go. Was I NOT supposed to go through that airduct?

If you're in the room I think you're in, remember that you should still have that portal back in the room with the "thing that shoots rockets at you".  Is there something perhaps could do with a rocket in this room?   ;)

If that doesn't work, see if you can fire a portal between the blades of the fan at a wall beyond.  Portal is a game all about re-thinking how you look at getting around obstacles.

I can't shoot a portal at the walls. I'm beyond that glass wall in the next room.

After that is a small corridor and an airvent that its too high to jump into unassisted.
I went back and grabbed a chair from teh rocket shooting room and used it to get up in the airvent.
now I'm stuck.

Walls aren't the only things you can attach portals to.  Floors will work as well.  Like I said, I think I remember the general area you're in.  You either need to fire a portal between the fan blades or retrieve something from a previous room.  I know you have to use the robot firing the rocket in several rooms using that same portal.

But I'm stuck in the fan, I can't get back our and I can't get to a portal even if I could get one past the fan blades.

I'll just jump back a save and figure it out.

edit2: I just figured out where the duck button was. I got out of there(after I put a portal down below).

Yes, even on PS3 (which, if you know anything about Valve, you know is an anomaly to say the least).

If Nintendo could manage a 2 button stylus, that would be perfect.

I don't know how, but Nintendo knows some ancient are of Japanese Magic, so I'm sure they'll figure it out.

I'm doing bonus map chamber 18. How the heck are you supposed to get past the second gap? There is only 1 place to shoot a portal.

Sorry, couldn't tell you.  I never tried the bonus maps.  You might want to hit up GameFAQs on that.

You're asking very specific information about a game most of us beat a couple years ago.

Try this.

Never new why Gabe never ported HL2 Orange Box to the WII?  In interviews he praises the WII and bashes the hell of the PS3 yet he still developes on that system.  BTW:  Source engine doesn't require alot, HL2 ran on the old XBOX and the WII is more powerful than that.

The Wii probably couldn't run Portal.  It's not that the graphics are a serious issue, but I'm not sure the Wii has the horsepower to run all the calculations that run the portals (how you can fire them nearly anywhere, how you can enter or only partially enter them, how you can often see yourself in them, how you can create an infinite loop of portals, how objects can be transferred between portals, how enemies can see and attack you through portals, etc.).

I'm sure a lot it had to do with the Wii not having shader support. Maybe they can bring Orange Box to the 3DS instead.
