So it's perfectly fine to squeal with glee in an explosion of undue praise but calling mediocrity as such is forbidden?

From now on, anyone who accuses someone else of bitching should be accused of kissing Sakurai's ass. I'm all for looking on the bright side of an update, but when we can't tell where Sakurai ends and someone else begins, it's time to give it a rest.

The options menu is a garbage update. It's the equivalent of inviting company over and ensuring that, on the tour of your house, they make special notice of the cat box.

Ice Climbers theme is good (sounds more like an F-Zero theme, though), but let's not be harping on people for stating facts.

First off, the only one really praising the update is Bill and that's what Bill does. He is the ultimate Nintendo Fan Boy.

Secondly, it's a Nintendo FAN site, so people are more prone to kiss ass here.

Thirdly, your bitching about something that in a month will be irrelevant; the meaningless bitch. You said it yourself, Sakurai didn't have to do a daily update; but now that he's "locked in", you have to constantly bitch about what updates you find to be stupid and what updates you find to be pointless. What you don't understand is that this whole thing is POINTLESS except for one main reason; it's a means for Sakurai to keep the game on your mind, and guess what...it works!

Seriously, you guys keep biting the hand that feeds you.

I didn't say you have to approve anything. All I was saying is that you shouldn't BITCH so much.

How long has he been doing these updates? A half a year -- more than a half a year?!

Stop whining about every single update and deal with it.

I don't bitch at every update. If there's something worth noting I will point it out, but the point stands. If I think the update is pure garbage I'll bitch about it and its my right, just like its your right of getting an orgasm when Sakurai talks about how exciting it is to turn on the Wii and insert the game for the first time.

I agree with what S_B said. Its a sad day in gaming when a pathetic update gets the insane praise of rabid fanboys.

What's even sadder about this board is that people live on a double standard. Its OK harshly criticize every game out there, Nintendo's included, yet its a sin to be negative about Brawl.

Brawl will be an excellent game, yes, but not even Halo fanboys are so stuck up the game's ass that they harp on anyone that points out a game's flaws.

On that note, praising the updates is also irrelevant because people would be too busy actually playing the game to even care about menus and options.

This ain't no longer about the updates, its about our right to voice our opinion. If we thought the update was stupid and could've been better we have the right to say so, even if its like a nail on a chalkboard for some. If people found some good on the updates, fine. But its annoying when people come harping on us with claims of being ungrateful, annoying and stupid.

Its basically turning a discussion thread into a head nodding thread in which everything spoken is sacred and anyone that speaks otherwise gets ridiculed.

I REALLY hate to see how the forums will turn out when the first reviews arrive and some claim that Brawl is more of the same...

Oh, I forgot: every time someone praises Brawl, an angel gets its wings.

Sorry, praise is just as meaningless as bitching, if not more so because at least bitching tends to spawn interesting discussion whereas standing around nodding heads gets nothing accomplished.

You were the first one to say someone was annoying in this day's conversation, buster.  You said, "I hate to be a jerk about this and I know people have different views on things but its annoying how some fans are defending what is esentially a pointless update," to LuigiHann, who wasn't even praising the update.  Nobody else had praised the options update before that, either.  Also, I note that you admitted to being a jerk about this.  People don't like jerks.  Why are you so surprised by the outcome?

Then there was this gem: "I know people have different views on things but at times you have to admit when something is crappy and stupid and this is one of those times."  What's that?  People have to admit that your opinion is correct?  And here I thought you were the one being persecuted!

My point is that you're welcome to your opinion, but try not to have such a bad attitude.  It's the "I'm better than you because I can call a turd a turd" behavior that's rankling people's nerves.  Or at least mine.

(I already regret getting involved in this.  Working three and a half hours late is bad for my sense of propriety.)

Nobody praised the options update. Everyone agrees that it's a boring update. The thing that I tried to point out was that this was a double update, and the music was mildly interesting. If Sakurai was really grasping at straws, he wouldn't do double updates at all. Boring updates like the options screen are there for the sake of completeness, not to fill time. By the release date, it seems, he intends to cover every aspect of the game.

I can picture you guys going page by page through the game manual, complaining about each boring page. It amuses me greatly.

...Except no one presented the pages of the manual to me thinking I'd be interested.

I understand why Sakurai is scrapping, but I just hope he shows us something a bit better tonight.

OMFG, that'll be tonight's update. "Manual Notes!"

Don't blame Pap. For one, he realizes this is karma for bitching me out back when I first disliked Melee.

Also, his 360 just clownsploded on him with a RROD.

The updates will get better soon. We just have to wait.

Finally got the Mario Circuit stage update!  Every stage we know about has been profiled now!

Yeah, this is definitely MUCH better, and if it wasn't for the fact that it was already show it would've made for a surprising update.

What I find a tad disappointing is that you don't travel around the track, especially since the team that designed it went above and beyond the call of duty and made a FULL racing stage.

But I really like it.

Well, now that the Mario Circuit update is here I think that means that there is nothing left that we know about other than a few Final Smashes and special attack updates. I really hope that the updates start to pickup in interesting-ness.

BTW did anyone else think that Mario Circuit was going to be like Mute City in that you are on platforms that move through the stage as opposed to staying in a stationary position on the track? Not that I do not like how the stage is I was just expecting it to be something else.

I was expected more or less this. Mute city might be something to bring back, and if it isn't, then why recreate it?
