This actually makes me believe he WON'T reveal any hiden characters before release.  But I do expect the full roster of non-hiddens to be revealed before game launch.

Anyway it doesn't matter when Sakurai himself starts to reveal hidden characters because the final roaster will end up being leaked before launch.  The final character list for Brawl is one of the most anticipated events out there.  You just know that there's going to be some guy who will get to play the full version early and leak the total list.

The only way Nintendo can prevent this is if they refuse to give any Japanese publications early copies to review and to not ship any copies to retailers until the night before launch.  Of course even if they did that you just know that some store in Hong Kong will somehow end up receiving a copy of the game one week before launch since they always do.

Didn't Coro Coro say they were going to release the full list on the 15th?

I heard about that as well but I haven't been sure if the source was legit.  If it is indeed true then we could be in for something big.  Coro Coro is a very reliable magazine that has reveal exclusive info on several videogames in the past.  Last year they revealed pretty much everything on Pokemon Diamond and Pearl quite a while before it was released in Japan.  So if Nintendo allowed Coro Coro to reveal a lot about Pokemon DP before it's release, it wouldn't be that surprising for Nintendo to allow them to do the same for Brawl.

Oh please let this turn out to be true.  I want to finally see me some CAPTAIN FALCON!!!

I badly want to see the roster, only so I can get the potential disappointment out of the way early.

It's like the revelation of the Wii name: I want to get it over with so I can stop being disappointed early. Either I'll like the secret roster or I'll hate it, but I'd rather know now than risk unlocking it on launch day and being insanely disappointed right then and there.

"Either I'll like the secret roster or I'll hate it"

There's no middle ground? ='D

But you don't have to worry about waiting until you play it to find out who the secret characters are anyway...

(Also, I believe Coro Coro said it'd reveal the STARTING roster, which would be interesting in its own right...)

I believe the same thing. I doubt they would reveal ALL characters right away. I do see them revealing a couple of brand new characters, which will then be featured on the SSB blog.

Oh and S_B, you can bet anything that once the Japanese version is released the net will be FILLED with threads saying "OMG ALL THE HIDDEN CHARACTERS REVEALED!!!!!!11!111". You'll likely know who's in the game by then.

So it's only the starting characters they said, well that makes a lot more sense.  Considering December 15 is pretty close to the one month date, I'd imagine Nintendo would have no problem allowing a major publication like Coro Coro reveal that.

Well this should be quite interesting then.  Hopefully we'll see a picture of the starting lineup character select screen, this way we might be able to get a good idea how many character might be in the final one.

Bonsly (Rock Pkmn that will hinder most character movement - except maybe DK and others - and really hurts if it connects.  Even to enemies with less than 50% damage)

Sigh...

You know, I had pondered quoting the "Yawwwwn" quote every time a crap update shows up but I don't want to be a royal bastard.

Why do you even read/post in this thread every day? Anytime there's an update that you would find interesting, you know NWR will post it on the front page. So why follow the daily updates at all?

I realized why character reveals are the most important updates...

Character reveals, on the other hand, are definite. For example, King Dedede's reveal confirmed that he is in the game. We know nothing else, but we know that his likeness and character will be present in SSBB. How he plays, how his moves work in an actual gameplay context, etc. are still very much up in the air, but we KNOW that Dedede is in the game and you will be able to play as him.

That is THE most certain thing we can find out through updates. We only have snippets of music so we don't know if the whole song is good or not. Levels can look crazy but we won't know for certain because we don't have first-hand knowledge of how the physics of the game will relate to those levels.

The ONLY certainty in SSBB which we can know without playing it is the roster, period. Online could be laggy and unplayable, stickers could be boring, spectator mode could suck, the level editor could be clunky and buggy, but if they tell us Sonic is in the game, we KNOW FOR CERTAIN that he is in the damn game.

Anything else is speculation and invites disappointment. I was excited about the level editor but I was wrong in being so. Until I've felt how it plays, I'm just inviting disappointment.

You know, technically this is one of those so called "definite" parts, just like characters...  New "definite" play mechanics are introduced and some could find them interesting.  Pick up a PKMN after it opens... hinders your movement, need to actually USE it to get use out of it...

...Dude, Bonsly is basically a glorified throwing item. The "heavy" effect is probably similar to picking up a heavy crate or barrel, and the automatic knock out effect is probably similar to the homerun bat.

Its nothing special, and deep down you know it.

Yeah, basically it's a "pokebarrel", which they're coincidentally scraping the bottom of for these updates.

We're going on, what, 4 weeks with no character update? If they don't at least reveal C.Falcon soon, LuigiDude will die of anticipation and we'll have to pool our money to hire an assassin to avenge his death.

No offense, Pap, but you're 6' or so.

If I die, I'm coming back as a Zombie on February 10th.  And not just your slow moving Zombie but one of those marathon running Crimson Head Zombies.  My desire to play this game is so strong not even death will be able to stop me.

Of course I'll no longer be able to play multi-player against people anymore because I'll just each their brains.  Oh wait, I just realized why Nintendo is really using the Friend Code system.  It's to protect everyone from Zombie players.  A game like Smash Bros is the perfect way for Zombies to lure there victims right to them.

So Friend Codes are useful after all.  That's the only thing that's going to prevent Zombie Luigi Dude from eating all your brains.
