Maybe pack-in of some major game instead of a price drop?
See, I believe Microsoft is waiting until it can release the better Xbox 360 with a cheaper price. And I expect that price to be around $50-75 less than the premium Xbox package. This would really threaten Nintendo.
Which is why I stated in another thread I believe Nintendo will be selling the Wii for $150.00 by Christmas 2007.
Nintendo wants this system cheap...and is already making money off of its success. Once components for the system get cheaper then a price drop will occur...and I believe it will be a significant price drop. If the Xbox 360 is priced at around $325.00-$350.00 December 2007, a $199-$240.00 Wii doesn't look as good of a deal. But a $150.00 Wii looks like a steal.
I believe this will happen. As much as I believe that the Virtual Console games will get a price adjustment around the holiday season.
I also believe Ceric's concept that Nintendo is using the Wii as a tester system, and will release a new console in 3-4 years basically a fully HD compatible Wii. I however believe Gamecube games will still be backwards compatible.
