I own the game, and have played quite a bit of the game. I was very frustrated after an hour or so because things were happening when I did not want them to, then I stepped back and looked at the controls. I now have become quite good and it is pretty enjoyable. Here are the keys:
Find a swing that works for you. I worked at holding the remote perfectly level, changing the angle and all of that stuff during my swing until I found what got me a good swing with little slice (though I have a bit of a natural fade).
Hold still when you hit the ball. When the computer hits it during your backswing, it is because (at least 90% of the time) your wrist flinches and you have a downward motion which it interprets as a followthrough.
The rounds take longer than in other versions. I have found this extremely satisfying. It makes me feel so much more immersed because I am paying attention to what I am doing. I absolutely love it. It's a completely different experience than in other versions.
Putting....yeah, practice and you'll get better at it. Most putts are pretty easy but there are distances that the game will simply not allow you to hit which is frustrating. This is my main gripe with the game.
Overall, after I realized the controls are not an actual golf swing, I came to really enjoy the game. I am still a little disappointed the controls aren't 1-1, however for a first effort, I believe it came out very well done. (If I needed a score...about a 8.0-8.3)
