Click HERE to read the posting and check out a scan with screen shots and tentative box art.

Now if only we can get the C64 on the Virtual Console!

That was in an earlier release list, too. Nobody else seemed to notice it.

I'm pretty sure I heard of it before.  I probably also blurted out the "STAY FOREVERRR!!!" line.  Then I probably said something about how the game better be cheap, or much improved.

If I didn't say those things, then I'm saying them now.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Never heard of it, but it looks interesting.

Looks like Sony's rants of "NO 2D!" are once again biting them in the ass...

That game was sooooo awesome on c64.  I played it again recently on an emulator and it's still freakin awesome.  If you want a hard game, this is the game for you.  I could never beat it on the c64 and I only beat it on the emulator because I could "save state" at the start of a room and restore the state if I died.  If they bring other c64 classics like Jumpman and Bruce Lee I will be extatic!

Does anyone know if this is updated? Surely they wouldn't put a straight point of Impossible Mission C64 on the Wii when they could have just sold it through the Virtual Console... and yet the screenshots look exactly the same as the orignial.  I loved the original, but some updated graphics would be nice.  It was hard to see the puzzle pieces sometimes...

I don't know where I stand on updating the voices though, the original sounds are classic... I just live the 'Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh' when you fall down a hole  It'd be great if they provide an updated version, with the option to play the original as well

Even though the screenshots are tiny, the graphics are clearly much more detailed than the original. It looks like the gameplay will be the same (side scrolling). I agree, it would very cool to be able to unlock the original game and perhaps it's sequel. As a matter of fact, it would be cool if the Wii-make incorporated both games, too. I wouldn't mind the original synthesized voices in the new version. Replacing it would almost be an injustice.

I scanned it. Originally I posted it here. Then GoNintendo rehosted the scan and linked back to the GAF thread, and the rest of the internet picked it up after that apparently.

Check out the GAF thread if you want, I tried my best to blow up the size of the screens. Also it's coming to PSP and DS. All are due out early next month in PAL regions (I have a feeling it'll be pushed back though) and there's no American release date yet (or probably ever).

Ah, gotcha. I was going to give you mad props if you had generated that yourself.

It seemed like it could good prank but they apparently ARE making the game after all...

After looking at those screenshots again, it looks like there might be multiple playable characters.  There's three 'agents' on the boxart, and one of the shots has a woman standing in a level.

I'd buy it, but one, it'd have to be imported, and two... it sounds like a terribly difficult, and I don't do well with difficult games.

All you do is run and jump. The controls are a lot like the original "Pitfall".

Jumpman Jr. is a game by Epyx that my brother and I played a lot of on the ColecoVision.

As you can guess by the name, it sounds like a pseudo-sequel to Donkey Kong (as Mario was known as Jumpman there) but it's not really.  Jumpman Jr. is a stickman who collects orange "bombs" (due to limitations they look like orange plus symbols without the center piece) on girder-like platforms, while avoiding bullet-like single white pixels that shoot across the screen.  Every stage had its own gimmick...I remember moving ladders that changed direction with each bomb collected, fires, dynamic stages (again changing with bombs collected), and a hurricane in the last stage.  It was all really well done, or at least I thought so at the time.

I'd like to see a remake of Jumpman Jr., but I'd rather see the ColecoVision added to the Vitual Console.

I remember the confusion of people saying C64 and MSX games would be on the VC.  It's probably been mentioned but if marketed well, they might do better than remakes that take up a whole Wii disc.  They need more actual "marketing" of particular VC games anyway, honestly.  Rumour-mongering the very same Monday morning doesn't count as marketing.  Maybe like a flyer of a whole month's release schedule in a game store.

Yeah, I played Jumpman Jr., too.  When I was really young, the bullet sound effect scared me too much, but eventually I got over it and became a big fan of the game.

Impossible Mission, to be honest I could never even come close to figuring out the puzzles, so I gave up on it.

VC marketing would be a good idea.

Even when I played the game about a year ago on a c64 emulator, I had a hard time figuring out the puzzles.  It was really tough.

This just in, THE WII HAS BETTER GRAPHIX THAN THE COMMODORE 64!!

Now, if that's not impressive, I don't know what is.

The picture isn't very clear, but with the possible exception of the resolution and maybe animation, that looks more than doable on the Super NES...  >_>

It appears that  Impossible Mission  has been confirmed (in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, June 2007) to be the first non-VC game to be downloadable via the Wii Shop Channel! I can't wait.

Another visitor. Stay awhile. Stay Forever!
