Bah, dammit

What I don't understand is how Ubi expects to become the #1 3rd party anything by not showing much effort in cases like this.
"OK, first we need someone to complain about something trivial. Golden or S_B should do. Then we get someone to defend the game, like Bill or Mashiro. Finally add some Unclebob or Pro666 randomness and the thread should go to hell right away." -Pap64

I never paid much attention to the PoP franchise since I saw it as being one of those series everyone overrates like crazy, but this sucks anyway.

I played, finished, and enjoyed The Sands Of Time and Warrior Within, but never got around to playing The Two Thrones.

But yes, I can see how silly this is, compared to what we should've gotten...another chapter.

The first one was very good, IMHO, but I never played the sequels.

Ubi better announce some new Wii IPs soon, or a BG&E Wii-exclusive sequel.

I find it funny that they can produce games like online Splinter Cell which get rave reviews but at the same time they can't seem to get their crap together in so many other areas...

They're CAPABLE of going the distance and making some good games.

The original PoP was excellent, IMO, and BG&E was one of the biggest sleeper hits I've ever seen.

Tragically, when they said they want to usurp EA, they might plan on doing so by using EA's tactics in that venue which means churning out the more sh*tty ports than EA can.

Yeppers.  I think it will be somewhat successful, too.  All we can do is continue to support the good games and ignore the bad.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Your assessment is logical.  My friend let me borrow his copy of Sands of Time and my response was "THIS was Game of the Year?"  It's a decent game but it's not nearly as big of a deal as people thought it was.  I think people were just surprised that a franchise had been resurrected in 3D and turned out actually GOOD.

Anyway this is lame.  I don't like Ubisoft to begin with.  They're just the European EA.  I find their stuff just very generic and uninteresting and there's no consistency in quality.  But then I have a general distrust of non-Japanese publishers and any publisher that ports every game they ever release to every console available.  They make better games than EA but EA used to be pretty good on the Genesis.

I think it would make more sense to like Ubisoft's individual developers rather than Ubisoft themselves.  I don't like EA but I like Maxis.

Truth be told, if EA's Madden is any indication of where their games will be going on the Wii I may start buying more of their stuff.

On the other hand, Ubisoft is promising all this support and yet outside of RRR everything else seems to be rushed out to market.  Maybe this is just launch and first year blues kicking in, but by this time next year I've gotta start seeing improvement all across the board.  I hope Nintendo didn't give them money hats of any sort because it sure ain't paying off quality wise right now.

I just think Ubi is scrambling to release as much stuff as they can in hopes that it sells and sells BIG, in hopes to buy its shares back from EA before EA decides to gobble them up and turn them into EA Europe.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, but I'm sure the original games are in the making, they just take time to get made, which is why we are seeing lots of "quick" ports over to Wii. I say if they are still announcing the release more ports and things of this sort at summertime next year, then we know there truly is a problem.

I'll say this right now=if this game looks worse than the GC or Xbox version, I will go mental.  A port is one thing, but I never thought ports were supposed to go backwards in graphic quality, only that they would look similar to the console from which it's being ported from.

Yes, this wiimake business sucks.

But I never played any Prince of Persia games, so I'll be picking this up.

Still, I hope all this wiimake business is only because Ubisoft is uber-enamored with the Wii launch period. They probably won't be doingn wiimake ports once the Wii's 9 months old, then they'll just give us straightforward wii version ports.

Besides, they can already see that their best sellers are their original titles: Red Steel is number 2 and Rayman is number 5.

i hope so karion,
right now im fighting the urge to return far cry vengence because of this. I only bought far cry to support mature content on the revolution, in the hopes that ubi as well as others fell that they can bring such games to our console. hopefully this is launch glut. I pray for good content aimed at the older demographic in the future. That said i wont be buying two thrones 1) i already own it and 2) this BS is going a lil too far. They need to make new GOOD games damnit. I salivate at the prospect of a NEW PoP on the Rev (some of you call it the wii, i refuse to do so cause im still protesting the damn name change) that actually takes advantage of the consoles power. I care less if it uses the motion control but it better damn well look substantially better than my 3 gamecube PoP games...

I think it's cool.  I have Sands of Time and Warrior Within for the Xbox but I haven't even played Warrior Within yet, nor have I gotten very far in Sands of Time.  It's a really good game from what I've played, but I just have far more games than I actually have time to play them.  So The Two Thrones on Wii sounds pretty good to me -- I can scratch the Xbox version off my Christmas list and just get the Wii version next year.

Would be nice if it's released at a "greatest hits" price point, since the PS2 and Xbox versions should already be available at that price.  I'm actually pretty excited about the idea of Wiimakes, so long as they aren't full-priced games.

Imagine The Wind Waker: Special Edition on the Wii.  Keep the same graphics as the GameCube version, but implement the controls from Twilight Princess.  Perhaps tweak the difficulty a bit by making enemies and environmental hazards cause more damage.  And if possible, restore the two dungeons that were cut from the original release due to schedule requirements and tone down the whole Triforce & charts bit at the end that was likely included to replace said cut dungeons.  I'd certainly buy that for $30 CAD.

Or a Metroid Prime: Special Edition that includes both Echoes and the original game, retrofitted with the control scheme from MP3: Corruption.

ARGH! No, please no, and emphatically no!

I don't want Nintendo to do what Capcom did with RE. No no no. They need games built from the ground up for the Wii, like Wii Sports or Wario Ware. They need to concentrate on new titles, like Mario Galaxy or Eye Shield 21.

If they spend too many resources on porting old games to cash in on a shrinking hardcore base, then they won't expand the market at all!

The most I want to see from Nintendo in terms of "wiimake" is Mario Soccer and BWii, and then for them to finish up Super Paper Mario already.

well, i never bought the poptt on gcn, but heard it was good. This is pretty much what nintendo did with zelda, so it doesnt matter that much really.

now i have the option to buy it with better controls, but im weary of the franchise in general after Warior Within(which i thought sucked) I loved Sands of Time though.

yes but the wii verion came out before the GC version leaving us with little choice.  I also hope they don't pull a farcry and make the graphics worse.  If it's at a budget price (not even Monster 4x4 was a budget price on the Wii when it was on th xbox) then maby it'll be more forgivable.

lol the Wii version was out first making it so i didn't have the choice(for a time) for the gcn version. So they forced me to buy the Wii version because i had to get zelda right away, because its zelda.
