I haven't been following this game hardly at all, but I actually think it might be a game that would interest me.

Don't worry about it, this is one of those games where you have an elite cult that talks down to anyone who may not "get" everything about it. I mean they about have too, because it could easily turn out to be a clunky mess, so they must cling to something to rally around.

Critical thinking time. Look at my post. Read the quote, then look at the picture. Think about the name of the Pokemon.

i like the slowpoke pic better this time Bill, not that your screen cap isn't good.

if you've followed any NMH in the past you'd know that the shaking of your beam sword is old news, but to be fair you might of been on hiatus when tin discussion came up.

I'm sure Suda didn't just remove the blood on a whim. He's probably fighting robots or something.

But if the blood HAS been removed, I am going to be very, very angry.

I sent a message to the IGN mailbag, to see if they know anything. Like I said, considering Suda's claims of the game being "more violent than Manhunt 2," if they just completely scrapped the blood, the decapitation, and the cutting in half, it will be incredibly lame.

I agree with Dirk (for once).

Slicing a dude in half was the best part of an earlier trailer. Taking that out changes the whole mood of the game. People exploding into a billion particles is cool, but no where near as mature as decapitation.

I am pretty sure the they still get sliced in half with the same blood effects except they explode into money right afterwards.  It is hard to tell because Travis is always in the way but there is always a dark spray as well and not just money flying in the air.

Well even in that interview, he says Manhunt 2's AO rating didn't bother him, so there's no indication that he actually changed anything in the game. He's just saying that Manhunt 2 will be more violent because it's a more gritty, realistic violence as opposed to campy Tarantino-esque violence.

It's not hard to tell at all. The blood sprayed ten feet into the air, and marked the ground. It's easy to tell that in the gameplay videos and the new trailer, the blood effects are nowhere to be seen.

EDIT: Hey, the DestroyMan fight is playable at TGS:

Oh yay. More evidence that Suda scrapped the over-the-top campy violence.

Honestly, if it turns out they completely got rid of the blood and slicing and dicing in favor of bland, generic particle effects, I may not buy this game until it hits the bargain bins.

There's an atmosphere to this game, which is campy action/sci-fi movies with over-the-top violence, like Versus for instance. Without the blood, it loses personality.

EDIT: Oh goddamn it.

From IGN: "We love the style, including the pixel dust explosions of the enemies after they shatter from existence. It proves you don't need gushing blood to have satisfaction of taking out the bad guys."

Goddamn it Suda. What did you DO?

Because I said I wasn't going to buy it, right? I explained my reasoning earlier, and compound the fact that the particle explosions are bland and generic, it leaves me very irritated.

Also in the commercial you linked, Travis says "Let the bloodshed begin." Hard to do that if there isn't any blood!

EDIT: Wait! There is a glimmer of hope! I just found out that the demo was specially created for TGS. Maybe they took out the blood for the demo in case there were underage childrens there.

Yeah now people will only buy it for it's mediocre gameplay and "awesomely" stylized graphics!

Duh . . .

In all seriousness though, the trailer was kinda cool (the over the topness of it all was well done) but . . . I don't like the people disappearing either. I'd rather it be more realistic violence as opposed to wind waker stuff. While it worked well for Wind Waker with exploding enemies, it just seems out of place for NMH.

I do not find the new lack of blood exploding from enemies to be all that disheartening, especially if it was done for a stylistic purpose.

Maybe Suda thought that a Tsunami of blood coming out of enemies did not fit in anymore with what he wanted for the game. Maybe, like Dirk mentioned, since this was a demo made for TGS the blood was removed for the sake of "the children" that played it on the show floor, and given that blood stains are all over the walls in the Destroy Man's battle that might be a possibility. Maybe we are looking at the Japanese version, when the NA version will have the blood back in, considering that the American GCN Killer 7 was the only non-censored version this may be a good possibility as well.

Regardless, I do not care, and even if it turns out to be a "mediocre game with stylized graphics" I will still buy it because a loved K7, and there are some games I play just to experience them, like Seaman, Hotel Dusk, and Killer 7.
