I will probably rebuy the game even though I have the original N64 game and the collectors disk for two reasons:

1. I love the Zelda series to death and OOT is one of my favorite games of all time
2. It is convenient to have it on the VC so I can just boot up the game anytime I feel like without having to dig up the GC disk
3. I love Zelda (did I say that before?)

Yeah, the convenience factor for my favorite games is like... this IMMENSELY powerful draw for me all of a sudden.

Yea, I be purchasing it on Monday too. I'll buy a new version of Zelda when ever it is re-released. The game is just fun to re-play and I've got disposable income. Were I on a tight budget, i'd just replay a version I've already got if I felt the urge.

The higher resolution and solid framerate for OOT should be a bonus.  I'm also starting to wonder if the next Game Boy system will be able to run most of the VC lineup, so getting a digital copy of the game now isn't much of a hard decision.

If the next Game Boy (or DS) ran any of the Virtual Console systems, it would be a massive success. Come on, who wouldn't lay down a few bucks to play their NES favorites on the go?

I am hesitant to buy games for the Virtual Console if I own the original system and they are readibly availible, but higher resolution is pretty tempting for Ocarina of Time. I expect people to come back here and talk about their experiences (controls, graphics, etc.) after they buy it. Do not let me down.
Thanks for listening.

Well, Nintendo states quite clearly that VC games are _not_ transferable. So I wouldn't hold your breath about transferring VC games to any handheld.

(Nintendo will, of course, transfer your VC games if your Wii system has a non-repairable problem.)

Why am I the only one who remembers that quickly removed IGN line about Nintendo eventually planning to put the Wii hardware into aq handheld?

They aren't transferrable yet.  All a newer handheld system would need is the same routine the Wii uses to run the Virtual Console executables.

In anycase, my original point was that these Virtual Console files will be used for a long time by Nintendo and shouldn't ever have to be replaced.  You can purchase the Virtual Console games in full confidence that it'll be the very last time you'll purchase that game.  Unless of course your Wii gets fried, but even that may be fixed in the near future if you allow Nintendo to track which games you've purchased so they may be readily available for you to download again if your system is damaged or if you change systems, etc.

Yes, Nintendo could always change its stance and allow transferability. But what I'm saying is I wouldn't hold my breath even for a second on it. I would absolutely *not* purchase these with the idea that they'll be some life time or a portable purchase.

I would like Wii Sports released via VC, it would be nice to always have it available without swapping discs.

I suppose if they stop bundling it with the machine, that would be a logical method of distribution, but I don't know. It sells pretty well separately and at full price in Japan, from what I've heard.
Might be a possibility for upcoming games like "Wii Music" and "Wii Motor Sports," though.

I think Wii sports would take up too much space on flash memory.  Besides, wouldn't you want to do anything you can to conserve space?

Some people have too much disposible income.  I can sort of understand buying games one already owns on the VC so that you don't have to have all sorts of older consoles hooked up.  But re-buying anything that is already playable on the Wii is ridiculous.

No one likes a smart ass .

I only wanted the Wii Sports on there because I use it alot for demonstration purposes, and my Wii is always traveling.  Either to relatives houses, or to friends houses, and I don't always remember to bring everything with me, and this is the one game I use for the demonstration..

Ah but ejecting and inserting disks causes wear and tear on your system. So just avoiding having to eject or insert one game could have beneficial results down the line. So take that!

I suppose it is still a bit too early, but do we know which version of OoT the VC version is? The original or one of the modified ones (like i'm guessing)?

It should be the updated one.. But who knows with Nintendo. I put in the actual N64 cart today and it looks so much worse than the Cube version, so I hope for the people that are downloading it that it is the cleanest sharpest steadiest version

Sorry, I guess I could have been more clear. By modified, I meant is gannon spitting up green blood? Does the desert temple play the original tune? Is the Mirror shield, bare? Or is it decorated with its original symbols?

Ahh.. well Im pretty sure it would be the version where all that was changed. Im pretty sure it was the fire temple aswell that the music was changed in. Its too bad because if it was that version I would actually buy it! It also looks like it isnt the version that was released on cube aswell, the hud looks like the N64 one apparently..

It's probably the final grey-cart N64 version. Green blood, no allusions to Muslims, but otherwise identical to the original, software-wise. Since the hardware is better, framerate and resolution probably look better, just like Mario and Mariokart 64 did.
