Another step-put game in, push game down, then push it down again to release it while jamming another cartridge in place on top of the that cartridge, thus creating some sort of anchor where the game is kind of ejected, but stuck in purgatory, and mysteriously it plays.

Wow, reading that really brought back some good memories.

vectorman was good but it is NOT Donkey Kong COuntry so DONT expect it to be. It is an ACTIONG game so expect ACTION not platofrming. Beyond Oasis is very good and it is one of those Genesis classics that didnt stand p to well to its competition. It has similarities in gameplay as Zelda but is a totaly different experience. And it shows of the Genesis capabilities quit well.

The problem with Vectorman is *because* Sega compared it to DKC fans compare it to DKC and thats an UNFAIR comparison. The peopel who bash it do so because it NOTHING like DKC and they expected it to be. It doesnt even use the same graphicaly style, it uses VECTORS, which are an older style of 3D than Polygons. Vectorman wsn't even trying to be 3D and it wasnt a platformer. It had some great gameplay mechanics and it was very fun, albeit extremely challenging. BUt its worth is debatable, and its not like my opion matters anyways... i defend *all* sega games, except the real crap. Flicvky was crap,  Eternal Champions was CRAP, Golden Axe on Genesis was CRAP, Altered beast was CRAP but I have fond memories of it so love it anywyas. BUT vectorman wsa GOOD despite the fanboys comparions. FORGET what Sega said back then IT IS NOT DKC. Its a titaly different experiremce.. BUT its available on Sega's Sonic Gems Collection (exteremely woth the price Sonic CD alone) so if you want to get Sonic CD *AND* Vectornam get that instead. I think its VM 2 but they are the same bascialy.

I think the first problem would be to detect when it's actually slowing down. How do you know it's going to take longer than a frame to draw a frame? How do you know it's not finished drawing a frame as opposed to, say, pausing on purpose?

it has similarities to erthworm jim and turrican but its not quit up to those levels. its still good. You basically are a robot type thingamijig that runs around and shoots people.  Its hard to explain. You have the ability to morph into other stuff and you have vertical and horizantal levels at the same time, kinda like Metroid/Turrican/Earthwirm Jim. I say check out some websites that hav reviews of the game and see for yourself, its a pretty good game its juts hard to explain.

that should help you out. overall it tends to get pretty high scores, and is esily one of the *BEST* genesis games that received too much hate back in the day.

Vectorman doesn't use vector graphics.  Vector graphics refers to wireframes like lots of old arcade games used to use.  Vectorman and DKC are compared to each other because they both use prerendered computer graphics to produce fancy visuals.

I downloaded a Vectorman rom and played it briefly to see what the game was like.  Cool sense of style, but I'm not so sure about the gameplay.

I still haven't purchased a VC game, but I will soon I promise. I'm trying to compile a list of what I should get and any opinions to help me not waste my money would be great.

So far my list consist of
1.) Kid Icarus
2.) Actraiser*
3.) Mystical Ninja**
4.)
5.) Mario Kart 64
---
In consideration list:
1.) Contra

*I remember this game as being a sort of God sim & sidescrolling adventure or something like that. I used to havfe this game along time ago and remember having fun with it. I don't thiunk I ever beat it aan d remember it being extremely difficult.

**I really like the N64 version and had never played another one before or after that. I assume the SNES one is the original and just as good if not better than the N64 sequel. I assume it will be a fun and funny sidescrolling adventure featuring Goemon

The first Goemon game was actually for the NES.  D'know if that one was ever released in the US.

I personally didn't like Mystical Ninja that much.  I thought the second one was much better, but it was only released in Japan. ):  Btw, there were two Goemon games for the N64.  One was a sidescroller, and the other was more like Super Mario 64 and Zelda.

I only played the SM64/Zelda-ish one, it was funny and fun.
I hope the SNES one is similar in experience only 2-D.

according to Sega Visions interview with the creators Vector man was made using Vector Graphics, they were used "primarily for the morph sequences, and other animation effects"

I have actraiser 2 for SNES, if the first is anything like it Ill be getting that game for sure. neo geo coming to Wii, well thats cool, I knew it would come eventually just didnt come soon enough.

There are too many good neo geo games to list, bnm, I say grabb any of the Samurai SHowdowns, and World Heroes, Metal Slugs and King of Heroes you can get your hands on. Magical Drop is good but its just a clone of Columns. There were some really good shmups as well as the sports games that were all worth playing. basically any game Neo geo releases get it.

Seeing Square on board is good news too. Now I hope all the VC haters can finally shut up.

Well, back to the subject of Ninja Turtles I can now say the chances are very good we will see all of Konami's old Turtle games appearing on the Virtual Console.

Here's why

If Konami is able to put the arcade games on Xbox Live, then this means they should have no problem putting all the console games on the Virtual Console.  When The Manhattan Project appears I'll be very happy since that's easily my favorite Turtles game.  I think because they developed it exclusively for the NES, instead of porting it from the arcade like the rest is the reason it ended up the best of the console Turtle games.

But those arcade versions are entirely recoded I bet. Nintendo seems reluctant to do that for the Wii... though we could see a couple recoded arcade games through the native Wii VC titles?

Oh god I've got 26 VC titles... /cry

Wow....I thats really cool to hear Turtles Arcade coming to Xbox Live.
Question I have though is, is it going to have all of the original sound like the arcade?  Cause if so, thats really going to piss me off since the same game on Turtles2 on gamecube doesn't have any of the original music, or any voice.....or even the cutsceen movies and gameplay you would have seen in the arcade.

But in other news Double Dungeons and Splatterhouse for the TurboGrafx are coming to the Virtual Console soon.

For free?

Well, if you mean back when both discs were released, then yeah, they were free. But now it costs you a pretty penny to hunt down the original discs.

Unless you are talking about other ways of getting the game...

No, I ment back when you could get it by pre-ordering Wind Waker, or the collectors disk, which had three ways of getting it free.....buying a gamecube (at normal price)...register 2 first party gamecube games, or something with a subscription to nintendo power for a year (I think)
