I didn't have that aid until after that part as well... hell I didn't even have a completed bridge... went all the way around  yes I missed it sticking out of the sand in the desert like a 50 ton glow stick.... quiet!

It is a bit disappointing how a lot of chests in hard to get to places simply have money, but as I mentioned before, besides money and heart pieces there isn't much to throw at you.  It's been that way since ages.  What they need to do is start introducing more non-essential items that you can happen across.  LttP had quite a few... good bee, one of the canes, cape, bottles.

The 3 *large* chests at the south exit of the castle need some clever maneuvers to get to them, but where's the love? Felt empowered when I figured it out... and then sad when I had to put it back.

I noticed the big rock in the desert and thought it looked like a bridge, but I always ran past the twilight creature thingies at the place where it was supposed to go, so I didn't have the portal there and was all confused for quite a while. XD

More non-essential cool stuff would be good.  Bottles are neat, but almost completely useless since the game was so incredibly easy.  The magic armor and hawk eye were kinda wasted oportunities.  And why do I have THREE bomb bags? XP

I also missed the Bridge of Eldin until about the seventh dungeon.  I also didn't buy the oil bottle that the guy sells you practically at the beginning of the game until about then, too.  >_<

Once you get the water bombs, they're all you need (and all you find in boxes).  They made the normal bombs totally obsolete, and I never even bought any of the third type.  You could MAYBE have use for two bomb bags if you wanted to go on a giant bomb fest all at once across Hyrule, but probably not (especially considering the ball and chain can smash bombable stuff.  I love that thing so hard).

I'm quite a completionist.  For instance, I finished the Nintendo Gallery in Wind Waker.  I try to get 100% in every game.
But if it's too tedious or boring, I just say screw it.  Only if I can enjoy myself or challenge myself is it worth it.

I am suprised you did not consider the Nintendo Gallery to be tedious or boring. I mean, taking photographs of every character in the game when you can only carry 3 photos at once sounds pretty tedious to me. When I found the gallery, I was really suprised and thought it was awesome. After that, I simply didn't care enough to get all the figurines.

But if it was fun to you, then that's great.
Thanks for listening.

Okay, so after almost 4 weeks of ignoring the game, I decided to play again, and beat it tonight, after putting ~45 hours in.

The Zant battle was AWESOME, but ultimately way too easy.  I lost about 2 hearts.  It would've been nice to include every dungeon boss, because the Desert and Sky bosses were noticeably absent.

I'm glad the Fused Shadows came back into the story.  It bothered me how they were taken away without getting to use them.

Fighting Zelda was weird.  And way too easy.  I could NOT figure out how to attack Ganon once I was in wolf form.  But once I did, that became a lot easier.  I liked the swordfight as the final battle.  That's how it should be.  Not some giant monster with a tiny weak point.  Just two evenly matched opponents with weapons.

I still hate the camera.  If a game requires platform jumping, it should also have a completely manipulable camera.

The weapons from dungeons 4 and 5 weren't used nearly enough throughout the game. There was a lot of potential for them, too.

The story still makes no sense to me.  I still think Ganondorf came out of nowhere.  Zant was a good villain.  He made sense.  Until you get to him, and there's this cutscene with some god, and then I was completely lost.

I think Majora's Mask is the best Zelda story-wise, because it's simple.  You know you're going against Skull Kid from the beginning.  You know you have to keep the moon from falling.  It makes sense.

But Twilight Princess was just confusing.  Collect the Fused Shadows, WITHOUT KNOWING WHY, then LOSE them!  Then collect mirror pieces.  Then go inside the mirror and fight a villain who no longer makes sense.  Then fight the actual villain, who is only there for tradition's sake, and have the mirror be DESTROYED.  What was the point of continuing with the game after a certain point?  The world didn't stop because Zelda disappeared.  There was no sense of urgency, much unlike Majora's Mask and even OoT.

Dungeon 5's item may not have been required in many places, but it was awesome as a weapon.  For example, stalfoses would shatter when hit, then their piles of bones on the ground would be demolished on the way back.  Plus it could be used to smash rocks that normally required bombs.  I loved that thing, and almost always had it assigned to the Y button.  We smashed very many things together! :D

I also love that item.  It looks both ridiculous and badass, which I think encapsulates the feel of TP very nicely.  Sure, it's realistic looking, but on the inside it's still a kooky and whimsical Zelda game.  Plus you can smash ****, it saved me a lot of bombs.  I love killing enemies with it because it looks SO COOL.

The ROD OF POWAH on the other hand, had potential but ultimately fell flat....I wish they brought back the ROD of Somaria (or somalia of SOMETHING), the one that made blocks.  IT WAS KEWL

The Nintendo Gallery was occasionally boring, but I felt like the results merited the effort.

I got bored and started a second playthrough.  Something has occured to me from towards the beginning of the game and I dont think it has been discussed. Why did that big green guy take the children in the first place? did they have any purpose for it or did they just feel like being badass by mixing things up and leaving the kids someplace else?

I finally beat TP (over 73 hours, with a lot of real life intruding on my game playing), and I finally read this whole thread.  I have a question about the end battle.  Is there anyone who didn't shoot Ganon in the face to bring him down?  After doing that for a while, Midna suggested I turn into a wolf, and she said she'd do the same thing I had been doing, only with her power.  Considering that I had been shooting him in the face, I got smacked around for a long time before I accidentally figured out what she was trying to do.  I plan to replay that scene and try wrestling him myself, but I'm curious if anybody noticed the resemblance between his tusks and goat horns before they noticed the classically glowing weak spot in his forehead.  That was the one really stupid design decision in the game, in my eyes.

About the end:
It didn't take me long to figure out that I needed to handle him just like the goats/gorons/ganon (heh) but I kept holding Z to get the camera right and when I hit A (and maybe up) I would jump attack.  Took a life bar and a half at a half heart each hit to figure out my oversite (try letting go of Z - hit only A).

It took me a life bar, fairy and potion to get by the first form of Zant.  I imediately asked for Midna's advice like I usually do and she said something to the effect of "Don't be fooled by his wacky movements, reflect his attacks and give him a taste of his own medicine".  So there I was trying to slash/shield bash his machine gun fireballs back at him.  I was so honed in on trying to time my actions that I was paying no f***ing clue to where I was.  Heh, the whole series of battles was easy after that...

BTW, I blame both of these on the time of day (past 1am) - the natural way to increase the challenge of any puzzle.

I want to know more about the previous "hero".  Seems like he was more of a CONAN THE BARBARIAN SPARTANICUS MAXIMUS than a simple elfy green shirt boy. cuz i don't see any reference to the Hero of Time, yet someone had bring Gannondorf to justice, since the fabled 7-sages plus kokiri hero vs. ganon confrontation didn't take place in this Hyrule.  Something ELSE happened.

Beat the game clocking in at 63 hours. Is it in real time? Got all the heart pieces, all the bugs, 44/60 poes. I didn't bother with fishing since...well there was no good reason to.  Is it one of the best games of this generation? Absolutely. Is it the best Zelda of all time? Jury's out on this one for me...

It doesn't make much sense to try and 'link' these (no pun intended) to the rest of the series. It just seems to have elements of the past titles, but doesn't fit with it correctly. Hell, even Windwaker didn't synch up with Oot perfectly. Princess Ruto guardian of the 'earth' temple? Puhleaze... Saria not the sage of the Kokori? Oookay...

Speaking of Kokori, where were they? Aside from the symbol from the first temple, and what seemed to be Skull Kid in the Sacred Grove, there's nothing left of these eternal forest children. I theorized maybe the Monkeys are an incarnation of them, since they're full of mischief, but I doubt it.

Where do the guardians of light fit in the rest of the series? The hawt fairies in the previous games were the ones who ran sh!t on the ground so to speak. Again, another stretch is that they represent they're the incarnation of the patron... things of the past tribes. Faron might've been the Deku Tree, Eldin could've been the red Dragon from Wind Waker, Lanryu= Jabu Jabu? But what about Ordon? Again, toss that theory out...

What's up with the Sages? In Oot they were represented by the individual races, though Raru and Zelda doubled up. Their mosaics are clearly visible in WW. Now they're just some old men with drama faces? It recalls LttP about the seven sages sealing the portal to the dark world, and how they would have 7 great-great-great grandaughters, but again there's a mismatch.

Pro beat me to it, but I wondered about the 'teacher' of hidden skills. He said something about being the hero but regretting he never passed on his skills. Seeing him reminds of the big skeletons of the Forest temple in Oot. Some of the songs you had to howl are from Oot/MM, the prelude of light is one example, so is he the Hero of Time? hmmm...

I believe the theory that the shadow twiili were once the Gerudo, and were drastically altered when they entered the Shadow Realm? Could the Shadow Realm be the precursor to the dark world?

I'm sure Bill or someone else will come along pick these points at will so I'll stop here for now. I'll have some rants later...

You never visit Kokiri Forest in Twilight Princess. The Ordon Province had a lot of unexplored territory (i.e. whatever is past the first dungeon).

Faron and Ordon both represent Farore.

I figured the hidden skills teacher was supposed to be Link from Ocarina of Time even though he didn't use any of those moves.

The Gerudo weren't the Twili. I think the Twili were banished well before the events of Ocarina of Time.

It's easier not to force the Zelda games into a timeline because they make no sense chronologically. Really, Twilight Princess could have fit anywhere as it barely references anything. Ganondorf supposedly losing the Triforce of Power at the end of Twlight Princess could place the game after A Link to the Past. Otherwise, who resurrected him and how did he get the Triforce of Power back? You could go on and on about how the games contradict each other. Think about the Master Sword. It's at the bottom of the ocean in Wind Waker and "sleeps forever" in the forest at the end of A Link to the Past. yet both supposedly take place before the original. Seriously, what the f? We should all just ignore chronology for the sake of sanity.

I just started playing Zelda today(I finally got my Wii back, its been how many weeks since Christmas?) and now I have a question.

I just entered the forest area, searching for the kids that chased the monkey, and now I'm in the first open area, next to where you get the key to the gate to the forest. There is a hill that you can go up, and then there are two pillars that you can jump across to an upper pathway in a tree. After you do that you have to make two more jumps across to two tree stumps, and that leads to another tree. Has anyone made it across there and is it worth my time to keep trying?

I can make it up to the two tree stumps after the two pillars and then I can't make the jump. But its obvious that it goes somewhere as I don't think the whole pathway would be setup without some sort of purpose or reward. Does anyone know where I'm talking about?
