Now NintendoWiiFanboy.com is reporting a Zellers bundle, that includes the console and two games (I assume Wii Sports is still also included): Rayman: Raving Rabbids and Excite Truck, for $455 Canadian (apparently this price includes tax, but in which province, I don't know).  I'm hesitant about buying either of those games so if it's mandatory, I may have to hit up a different store instead.

You only know about what's in the bundle if you go to Zellers and ask them, oh and I think you have to pay every single cent on the spot as you preorder it, and apparently they have a very small limit (5) on preorders.

OK guys here is an update from my side of things, I talked to the manager at my local gamestop about the Wii and PS3 preorder. He told me that although he did not hear the October 9th date he did say to call EVERY morning all next week because that is what appears to be the time the stores start taking preorders.

For those in the UK, Game UK has some online pre-orders. There are also store based pre-orders with a £20 deposit.

I just preordered my system from FYE. Even though it's been a few weeks since preorders started there, I was only the 7th person to have reserved one.
I was surprised, but then again, this is not exactly from an area where the market really has much interest in games other than the usual GTA/Madden/other über-masculine generes for the Xbox and PSP. Thug/urban culture is big here, from the real gangbangers to the middle-class surburban caucasians who are obsessed with them. In fact, the local EB games and FYE have quite possibly the smallest and oldest stock of DS and Gamecube titles -- there are only a handful of first generation titles for each platform and they are still listed at the original prices (34.99 and 49.99!!!).

The Wii page on EBGames' site says "console online pre-order information coming soon".
I've definitely subscribed to their email alert thing.

40 days to the Wii.

WE CAN'T PLAY WITH OUR WIIS FOR FORTY DAYS.

(Wasn't that a Josh Hartnett movie?)

If I don't preorder, I hope my chances are still good.

Those jerks at GameStop/EB have a Sony bias. They're taking PS3 pre-orders before Wii pre-orders! How dare they! Nintendo should be FIRST!

But really, this is a confirmation that they will be doing Wii pre-orders as well since they're doing it with a system that will have a fraction of the Wii's units at launch.

Er, isn't that backwards?

Shouldn't it be that the more units there are, the less likely they'll be taking pre-orders because they're less necessary?

I suppose that's one perspective, but I was using the logic that if they can do it for PS3 and its extremely limited quantities, they can certainly do it for the Wii and its abundant overflowing quantities.

Gamestop and EB starts tomorrow! Juts got the official e-mail.

Quote

Gamestop and EB Games stores will being accepting limited pre-orders for the Nintendo Wii console on Friday, October 13, on a first come first served basis. Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to reach our limit very quickly, most likely in minutes. We will not accept additional pre-orders at that time. To avoid an unnecessary trip we strongly reccomend you call your local store to determine availabilty. A $50 reservation deposit is required, which can be funded with cash, credit or trade. As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch. Reservation/Purchases are limited to 1 per household.

So $50 reserves one for you, most likely they are gonna play it safe and only do a small amount of pre-orders (like amazon did) which is why they say "extremely limited supply" and I wouldn't worry to much about the "does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch" I'm pretty sure they are just putting that there to cover their butts.

Also some little extra's in the e-mail.
Quote

Trade in 3 Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, PSP, or Nintendo DS games and get an extra $10 trade credit

and
Quote

Trade any games towards the purchase of a Nintendo Wii console or Legend of Zelda: Twighlight Princess (Wii) and recieve an extra 20% trade credit

Both offers expire on October 15 and cannot be combined.....well just trade in the 3 games today and do the extra 20% tomorrow.

Yeah, but if they don't have a Wii available for me on day one, can I get my money back?

I was disappointed to see there was gonna be "extremely limited quantities"! I mean, what the heck?! Nintendo is shipping 1 million Wiis and $ony 400,000 PS3s but quantities available for pre-ordering are the same? I mean, come on!
I think I'll just wait for online pre-orders then. *sigh*

Man, I'm freaking out now.

I'd better go to Toys R Us today and put down a preorder deposit...

EDIT: Never mind, it looks like Toys R Us stopped taking them as of Sept. 26.  Looks like it's the EB Games lineup tomorrow...

I do want to clear up the fear that you are not "guaranteed" a Wii at launch if you preorder, that is there as a way to save Gamestop/eb if things go south. As of now your chances of getting either a PS3 or Wii at launch are almost certain if you did preorder one, in fact my manager told me that they aren't even paying to preorder number yet since they expect to be able to match the amount preordered with units. If worse comes to worse he said he would figure out order numbers if they come up short.

Interesting.. but since the $20 WiiPoints card is sold for $24 here, can we expect the same ratio for all the other accessories?

If you live in Los Angeles or Hollywood, the EB games at Universal City Walk is accepting pre-orders again. They recieved word from Nintendo that that will get waaaay more shipped to them. The orignal list had 25 pre-orders, this one believe it or not has over 150. Now these people always give me the heads up about everything, and I was debating over and over that there is no way they are recieving over 100 Wiis. My store friend just said '"thats just what we were told."

Also word has risen that Nintendo will hold some kind of launch party at the EB Games at Universal City Walk. I remember they did something like that with the DS, wouldn't be surprised if it happens for wii as well.

I went with preorderingmy Wii in store at GAME UK but its a slightly odd set up.  Its not an official preorder yet I was"registering my interest" in a Wii. I have to go in again when they have the official allocation numbers. They were suposed to phone me whenever that is happening. Should I have got the call by now do you think?

I notice they are now doing proper preorders online now but they don't gaureentue a launch day Wii since they are unsure of how many they will have. They go on to say that the in store preorder system is completely seperate and run in a completely different way.

I am a little bewildered by all this since usualy I just preorder my system and pick it up and usually without incident too.(Note the only consoles in history I have had on launch day were N64, Dreamcast (lol) and the Cube the rest I picked up long after launch). Should I be worried about my Wii prospects, I'm really hyped for this and really don't want to miss out on getting one on launch day. Which isn't until Dec 8th for us europeans
