those reasons are exactly why i find this very plausible. nintendo would not only be bringing communication without boundries (ie. i could communicate to anyone, no matter what the language) to all their fans but could keep them self in a safety zone by keeping those conversations in the "PG area" like you said. that way there would be no cases of pedophiles speaking to children in purple text like someone else said

Also! Very VERY cool for any potential online RPGs. . . You don't really want some 11 year old kid voicing a giant lizard creature or whatever else. I'm always hoping for a Wii online RPG with RP servers. I know, it's pretty unlikely, but at least this would make it all the cooler.

And we'll always have voice chat for 3rd party games.

Erm, what's the point of censoring voice chat unless you're not using friend codes, and I thought all first party titles were going to use friend codes?

If your idiot friends decide to swear at you, it ain't Nintendo's fault, and this way pedophiles can still speak to and lure random children.

Also, my f*cking Nintendog can't even tell what I'm saying half the time. They're going to use this voice to text thing on ME?

I ain't holding my breath...

I decree that we all use this "viz-o-chat" here in this thread from now on.

So you are all required to use various sizes, colors, bold, italics, and underline to emphasis the mood and tone of your text.

I'm too lazy to do it, so you muf*ckaz can do it for me.

Go on.

As smash brother pointed out.  There is a problem with voice recognition.  Her is an example of me playing brain age:

Me: blue
Game: Try again
me: blue
Game: Try again
Me: BLUE!!
Game: Try again
Me: DAMMIT! YOUR RUINING MY BRAIN AGE!
Game: Try again
Me: I hate you
Game: Try again

I then throw the game across the room
Me: BLUE MOTHA F**KA!

According to Nintendo Inside we may be getting a cheaper Wii!?!?
It seems Nintendo's stock has hit a new high on The Nikkei due to a cheaper procurement of CPU's due to a larger order?

Nikkei seem to think Wii will go on the market for 19800 Yen and not 25000Yen!!!
Quote

The sales price of Wii assumes 19800 yen.
19:05 Tuesday, August 15, 2006

It seems to expect to be procured at a low price, and the change of the package for CPU of Wii to be a sales assumption price of Wii to 19,800 yen from a past 25,000 yen in the report of Nikko Citigroup according to NIKKEI NET.

Because it is not a free rumor article, you seem may expect this. Do it become a considerable remark that decides an argument in the person who is hesitating whether to still buy Wii?

New Nintendo < Osaka Securities Exchange > hits a new high. (2006/08/15 15:35)

(code 7974 at 15:5) Stretch in succession on the fourth. The year's new high 22,310 yen on July 25 is updated to the first session, and gains have been expanded to the post-place. One o'clock is bought up to 22,810 yen of 590 yen up compared with the day before. It is continuously had a good feeling to have raised the target stock prices from a past 21,700 yen to 25,200 yen though the Nikko Citigroup bond left the investment judgment untouched by "1H" on the tenth. In this report? It becomes cheap the package for CPU (central operation processor) ..procurement.. ..the expectation.., and it changes from 25,000 yen to assume the sales price of the next generation family-use game machines 'Wii (We)' to 19,800 yen. The number of the domestic sale is expected ..expectation.. ..strong.. to increase by 50 percent so far, too. ?It makes it.

There was a point with "A recent exchange market price's tending to depreciation of the yen in the dollar and Euro becomes a purchaser hanging" (major bond) in the market, too.

Also Bloomberg are reporting Nintendo are up to there nexts in the development of brain training and Diet training type games for Wii, and expect them to hit by Xmas?

Quote

According to Bloomberg's report, Nintendo seems to be developing software related to dieting for Wii.

"Software related to dieting etc. for 'Training that strengthens the brain' and next generation machine 'Wii' keeps being developed, being progressed from the desire that it wants to make even the person who cannot master the game controller can readily enjoy playing a game, and new range of customers being developed. "

being saidI think that the exercise is good as the possibility of the remote control of Wii. Brain..tray..intellectual training..genre..invent..game..education..useful..think..bring..following.. this time..healthy..use..mere..game machine..family..all..locate..do.

Analyst Hideki Yasuda of the ace bond is "Tendency to which the light user buys the game that it will not be caught in a past frame such as 'Training that strengthens the brain' soon by Kon, and the market extends though a terrible game and a wonderful game were popular up to now" and analyzes it. This year's Christmas sales battle was expected that how the light user was acquired would become a point. It is described, "The domination of Nintendo because it plans to put a light game and a casual game new for wii on the market".

So in summary:
- Larger order of chips = lower price for Nintendo
- Wii could launch @ $199 US
- Nintendo developing Brain & Diet Training games for Wii (million sellers in Euro & US?)
- BT & DT aimed for pre Christmas release

that grammar made my head hurt

as for the Diet Training games, that could really catch on in the US since everyone is seemingly becoming more health concious. i read a report not too long ago that teens are the number 1 buyer of bottled water/vitamin waters in the US because of trends to be/stay healthy, and as a result companies like pepsico are losing money on their soda fronts.

now nintendo may come out with a fun way to do simple exercises a few times today, with tips on how to eat right, and you've got yourself a hit! especially if you get oprahs fat as$ to do this on television ;-)

GoNintendo is reporting Japanese launch at around $170 US dollars (after exchange rates from Yen).

So we could potentially see a price anywhere from $150-$199 in the US realistically, seeing as Nintendo sometimes releases consoles cheaper here.  (DS Lite is an example.)

We had been discussing that earlier, I remember: at $150, the Wii becomes an impulse buy item.

I don't know how much money Nintendo spends on making each Wii, but at $150, I think it would be safe to say they'd make up the difference on licensing fees and software sales rather quickly.

People would pay $150 just to mess around with Wii sports.

Speaking of Richard Simmons, I remember reading that someone named Richard Simmons (I say that because it's unlikely to be THE Richard Simmons...at least I think so) was credited as doing the voice of Tingle in a Zelda game.  Was/is it Twilight Princess?  I forget.  That was a while ago, and was probably someone's flub-up or joke in the IMDB credits or something.

Now, an exercise game with both THE Richard Simmons AND Tingle?  That would either be extremely hilarious, or incredibly scary.  I'm thinking more the latter, though some people might have a good time with it (or at its expense).

Oprah once again returns to the grand scheme of Wii marketing.  If Oprah gets all over this (kinda disgusting when you think about it), American consumers will follow suit.

What do you guys think of the recent rumor that Metroid Prime 3 will be delayed.  If it happens, I predict a year long delay, online modes added, cooperative play, and an expansive series of systems to explore (like Super Mario Galaxy, Spore, or Mass Effect).

I doubt we'll get true vehicle control (though it would work brilliantly with the remote), and when we do get a Metroid that allows us to fly the ship, its use will probably still be limited to an overblown key.

Original Source: From an IGN article
Nikko Citigroup previously forecast a 25,000 yen price for the Wii. The firm arrived at the new, lower price point based on its expectation that Nintendo will be able to procure the Wii's CPU for less than expected.

My question is how did they procure them for less?  I figure at the beginning of there colloboration with IBM they set a price or a percentage or something.  It also must be significant drop to actually drop the cost.  This could also be an indication that Nintendo had upped there Guarenteed number of processors there going to buy in the next year or so.  Go Bulk Discount!  It would be consistant with the rumor that they are producing more Wii's then originally quoted.

CouchMonkey:

I think you got it.  In the full story it mentions that because of the increase in CPU units ordered by Nintendo they were able to get a better price.

This is great for Nintendo.  First, it means Nintendo is looking for better sales of the Wii during launch.  It also means that we should get a better price on the Wii when it is finally released.

You know I believe Nintendo could sell out of all its units by December.  I bet Nintendo will completely met its sales forcast and still have huge demand of the Wii at launch.

Ah ha.  I knew there was some speculation about that.  Though Still a larger order of chips I don't think it would normally drop the price to the point that you change your original pricepoint.  Just enough that you pocket the little extra, think $1-2 dollars off the chips.

Also, now that I think about it, has anybody heard whose actually fabricating the chips for Ati?  I wonder if IBM got into that deal.  I know AMD isn't going to allow them to use there Fabrication plants for another year I beleive.  I could see it this effecting the price if all the parties involved gave an extra discount (It would all stack up.) *shrug*
