That reminds me...

The Wii can still plug into a monitor right?

I've always wanted this for the controller - like the ones for my two way radios..

Oh jeez, the battery debate again.  Just get some damn batteries and a charger package. $15 at Walmart. Keep the other two charged and swap as needed.

No Walmart? Amazon.

Nintendo's corporate cronies may be in bed with the battery conglomerate, but hopefully we'll be able to pick up the pieces and move on with our shattered lives after this latest shafting from "the man". There must be support groups for people like us.

Ooh-blah-dee, ooh-blay-dah. Life goes on.

I remember from somewhere that a Nintendo engineer said the expansion port won't allow electricity to flow through the recharge pack due to some technical issues. So yeah just buy a charger and some AA's and hey you will also get to use those AA's for other products as well.

Honestly, though... why use a propritary recharable pack. When you can just use standard AA rechargables.

I mean, once again, when your "rechargeable pack" dies. You'll have to stop playing to charge it. Or buy two of them and keep one charged. But then why can't you, or Ian, for for that matter, just do the same with standard AA recharables?

Buy some standard AA recharables and keep a couple AA recharable batteries charged as backup. It's lots cheaper and you can use the batteries for all your other devices as well. Those AA batteries are not just Wii AA batteries like those "Recharable Pack" batteries for your Wiimote would be. And besides, when newer higher capacity AA recharables come out you don't have to wait for Nintendo to release the extentend life battery or for MadCatz to update their "recharable pack" with it. You just go to Jewl or Costco or where ever and pickup a pack of the new 4million mAh AA batteries and presto. More game time for your Wiimote.

So, I don't get why Ian is having one of his hate-gaisms over this. It just honestly makes such much better sense an internal battery. But what ever, go have your little hate-on ian.

The thing is with how battery technology has progressed and a how there would be a slight increase in useable size of the battery.  Those 3rd party packs will probably be able to give you longer play time.  Maybe even significantly longer then just using standard rechargeables.  All those accessory makers are clever for a living so I'm sure they'll think of something else if that's not enough.

If the 3rd party packs do have longer battery life, well, I hope it makes Ian happy. Of course, it won't, because he'd have to buy them. But then Ian is just always looking for something to complain about with Nintendo. If it isn't one thing, it's another.

I'll be happy because I can use my existing AA rechargeables in the Wiimote and swap them out for fresh ones when they die.

I think the Xbox 360 method is the best concerning controller power.

Options galore:
1)AA batteries
2)rechargable AA's
3)proprietary rechargeable battery pack - recharge through USB ports while playing
4)You can buy spare rechargable packs (they go for A$9) for #3, this helps if you don't want to be tethered to the console
5)A docking station for recharging multiple packs

Less restrictions and not overly expensive. Wow MS did something right
