Well, apparent Nintendo has something up their sleeves for tommorrow (YAY!!!). So it might actually work for nintendo if the new thing is as big (or bigger) than the controller concept. In that case, Reggie gets to make fun of Sony, AND gets to reveal something new that nintendo has.
I will laugh my @$$ off if Reggie makes fun of Sony (Hmm.... That conference yesterday seemed oddly familiar) and says, "Well, Sony now has also 'innovated' a controller with tilt sensors, but Wii have THIS......"
Btw I was looking at the PS3 section on the CAD forums for a good laugh, there is a thread called "Sony pulls a Wii," here are some highlights (My comments in bold)
"That with the gyro in it. Sure nintendo has it. But I don't care. It's a cool idea, and I'm glad that they stole it if they didn't think of it first because I was never gonna get a nintendo." What would this guy have said about Nintendo's idea yesterday?"
"Doesn't matter that random 14 year old on a few forums goes ZOMG THEY RIPPED OF THE WII!! What matters is that they have a feature that is cool, that is noticable, that will be well recieved, as well as it being just "another" cool feature, unlike the WII which has focused basically their entire product around it." I repeat my earlier comment
"I found the pricing to be well in line with that of the X-360... And I love the controller idea." All of the quotes so far were from the same poster, fanboys are funny
Later in that thread: "You mean the idea Nintendo had, monthes ago? Or Sony's idea to copy it?" Well Said
This point actually isnt bad, so I thought it was quote worthy "Also for all of those people complaining and throwing a fit about Sony "stealing" the motion sensor idea from nintendo.... I highly suggest you look up the history of motion sensors in controllers before you put Nintendo on a pedestal for using it. Because they certainly aren't the first by any means."
"Well, it's not like it's directly ripping off the wii controller. 1. It won't be completely like the wii-mote 2. Nintendo didn't exactly make it so that they were the only ones who could do that. Heck, Nintendo should be proud that the idea is looking good for others." Being proud is one thing, but when the competition copies you to try and push you out of business is quite another
This one is HILARIOUS "Where's your proof that it's idea stealing? I mean, it is possible that they were kicking the idea around, saw how well it was received when Nintendo did it, and went ahead and decided to implement it themselves.
I didnt include the names, but if you want, you can go over there and find them. Also, not all of the posters were raving fanboys trying to defend sony's actions, even the posters above would later say something that made sense. There were some rational arguments for both sides.
Edit, screw up with the bold parts (begun one without closing it)
