Seems like the rumors of something happening on the 24th have strengthened and the entire internet thinks so now for some reason. Wednesdayton!

Tilt stuff, microphones, 3D glasses.  I'm thinking Nintendo is just throwing everything they can into this thing to see what sticks.  None of those really blow my skirt up but there's no lack of effort from Nintendo in trying.  There needs to be something else though.  Something really big that wins over third parties.  These features are neato but lack killer app appeal.  I can't see many people buying the Rev just because of those features.

The glasses and microphone could also really easily be copied.  I guess that's the point since Nintendo is so worried about it.  But seriously Sony could just release a seperate mic and it would probably have the same amount of games that use it released.  It's not something that every game is going to use or at least not in a logical way.  There's only so much you can do with 3D glasses and microphones so they might as well be accessories because they're not the sort of thing that was wide appeal.  The NES came with the lightgun but how many games used it?  Some stuff like the analog stick works for almost every game and some stuff only works for a few types of games.  The Rev needs an "analog stick".  It needs something that can and will be used in nearly every game.

I wonder if they're just hiding the controller to keep us guessing, and it really isn't that different, but the Revolutionary thing about it is something else, maybe a revolutionary new way to play online, or multiplayer, or interface?

Well I sincerely doubt the controller is the sole playing card of the Revolution...It's been implied several times that the Revolution is more than that...For example:

I remember the rumor of the force feedback/gyro resistance a while ago, and it was also broght up how the fishing game in OoT was the best damn fishing game on the 64.  I hear that there is also a fishing game in TP and that the REV controller would be put to perfect use with this fishing game if that rumor above is true.

Several weeks later............ Zelda gets delayed(for those that ride the short yellow bus)

oh and try the link again, it works just fine for me.

I bet they'll bring back the pressure sensitive A and B buttons with hundreds of points of depression like the Cube was supposed to have, add a second Z-trigger and be done with it.

Ran into this over at the Gamespot forums. I'm not so sure this is in reference to the Rev but thought it was worth showing.

Quote

"Be sure to tune in to G4 when the revolution begins on August 24 and 25."

This was taken from Gamespots community home page under the Announcements window.

Note that 24th is two days away, and exactly a week within the conclusion of the Leipzig GC as Matt of IGN predicted.

Something? Nothing?

+++++++UPDATE+++++++

"Not-so-shameless self-promotion: Soon, you'll be able to check out four episodes of G4's Cinematech, which were jointly co-produced by GameSpot. For all the details except the ones we're holding back until later, check this out. Watch the episodes, or we'll all be fired! Wait...uh, don't watch the episodes and we'll all be fired!"

"we will support stereoscopic 3D for certain games"

where did this page from nintendo.com come from?  is it a fake?

what did I miss?

why is this news not out?  shouldn't it be on the front page of cube.ign?

If this is true, its awesome.  Forcefeedback gyros in the controller and head gear with stereoscopic screens and a mic.  All that is left is the surface mechanics of the controller.  Will Nintendo stick us in the ass taking away both analog sticks and giving nothing back; leaving us with a dpad and face buttons?  I'd rather lose the face buttons and dpad.  I'd like to get something new like a trackball.  It would really tie it all together well.

Nemo, where did you get that quote from?  Link please cuase it seems I've missed it.  Also, what do you think of my quote?  Do you think Gamespot and G4 are going to spill some beans on the Rev?

Supposedly Nintendo had that up at their press site but quickly took it down, a few people saw it (ask Bill), but I didn't see it so I can't confirm anything.

Nice, thanks for the info, looks legit to me but I'll post them on a few other forums and see what others have to say bout it.  Good find and some quick thinking to take a snapshot of the page.

UPDATE:  Well I've posted it at Gamespot and Nsider.  Most people are questiong the profesionalism of the writing and some are claiming it to be photoshopped.

I think the reasons people are pointing out it's "fake" is exactly why they took it down, some new guy made a few mistakes and Nintendo quickly took it back to "professional" it up, it should be back up there soon. If Bill was telling the truth that is, but Bill wouldn't lie to us

Thats the same thing I was thinking Mario.  Well members over at the Gamespot forums have shown how easy it is to pull off a fake like this. I don't know what to make of the claims from people (Bill lol) that have said they actually saw it on the site before it was taken down  (or even that claim in itself lol) but there is one thing we can be sure of, something was on that page and Nintendo has taken it down.  If you go to the URL in the pic, something seems to have been taken down, what was it though I don't know.

Anyways, here's the link to the fake "news" made by the Gamespot member.

I was chatting to Bill when he found it and he was all like "LOOK HERE" and I clciked but i didn't have a press login so I couldn't see it and then it went down but he screenshoted and photoshopped it.
