My god, Microsoft draws the parallels for me.  I don't even have to do any work.

Miscrosoft to give the Japanese press (& IGN) a 2 1/2 hour private demontration of the Xbox 360

IGN.Xbox
Quote

On 5/13, the Japanese press (this includes us, strangely) will be invited to the Virgin Cinemas in Roppongi Hills, one of Tokyo's most chic areas (Square Enix unveiled Final Fantasy XII at this theater a couple of years back). Microsoft will be holding an invite-only event called "Next Generation Xbox Preview" at the theater starting at 11:30AM. The event will continue until 1:50PM -- a full two hours and twenty minutes!

We expect the first thirty minutes of the event to feature an airing of the MTV premier, but that still leaves almost two hours of mystery content. Perhaps the press will be given a closer look at the system leading up to E3?

Looks like MS is really trying to make sure Xbox succeeds in Japan this time around.

Considering that 55 minutes of that hour would consist of flashing various people's boobies on screen and Jamba ads and the remaining five minutes of marketing buzzwords I doubt that's going to tell us much.

Hrrm...I was just checking out some videos on MTV2 and they mentioned the XBox unveiling this coming Thursday at I believe 8:30 central time.  Looking through my Dish guide I see no mention of it at that time on either MTV stations...unless it's that whatever Download show on MTV2 which I'm not even sure what the hell it is.

I broke my rule and turned on MTV.  I made it six minutes into the show before I got sick and started playing Majora's Mask.

I'll watch it if it has PD0.

Luckily I'm on the west coast so the east coast people can be guinea pigs.

Yeah, I just watched a few minutes of it.  Absolutley sickening.  Their pimping out a circular LED around the power button, for god's sake.

The videos they showed....even if the games are still in development, they are horribly underwhelming.  Even if the real power lies elsewhere in the system, the truth is the majority of the Xbox crowd cares mainly about the graphics, and so far I've been seeing stuff that the current generation can pull off.

*flat voice* "Dawg, I'm excited boy.  Are you excited?  I'm excited.  This stuff is IN.  This is the shite bitch.  Representin.  Get down bitch bitch sass bitch bitch.  I wish I were black."

Edit:  Holy crap, is that.....Frodo?!  How sad ;___;

I was looking forward to Perfect Dark, but at this point in time it's just embarassing...I just don't like the direction Rare seems to be taking it...However, I'll hold off on further impressions until I actually see it in motion...

Can't we just agree that Rare is no longer Rare, and move on with life?

A bunch of programmers whose mission is to milk Microsoft for 2 game console generations is not what I view as a talented developer.

Right, the show is apparently over now and it seems its purpose was to disappoint gamers everywhere.

Strangely enough, the reverse psychology is working on me. I'm not convinced the games will actually look that bad... I'm willing to give Microsoft the benefit of the doubt and assume the games will look about 5 times better when they're released.

If Rare can somehow pull a miracle in 6 months id be shocked...

unless they delay it... which wouldnt suprise me, but it would mean the 360 would loose its only launch killer App...

I hate to see Rare going down in such an ugly way I hope for the game to be awesome despite the lack of effort behind those graphics...
