Anybody played Sprung yet?
« on: December 14, 2004, 12:54:31 PM »
Hey I was thinking of buying Sprung but I think it's gonna be really short and has a low replay value. I know it has "challenges" that japanese dating sims don't have but I don't think I'll ever pick the wrong choice =P (hehe...). So tell me how long it took to complete and what ya think of the game.

Well Craig Harris at IGN gave Sprung a measly 4.0 - we all know that jerk-off's word is the be all and end all of on-line reviews.

Despite Craig's wonderful rave review, I'm still interested in this title. I think once Christmas is over and I can start spending money on myself again - I'll be picking 'Sprung' up as my next DS game.

I guess not many of u have or are gonna play this. Well even though it gets low ratings everywhere im gonna buy it! If I REALLY hate it I can just sell it for twice the price That probably won't be the case though...

I rented it yesterday. It's a very unique "game" if you can even call it that but it is REALLY funny. The dialogue is witty and actually very realistic. In fact, some of the characters in the game have almost identicle personalities to real life friends of mine. It's freaky. I was also really surprised by how edgy it is.
I figured it would have some mature content, but it would all be implied stuff. Some of it is but some is actuall very frank. No complaints though. Unlike other so called "mature" games, it's all in good fun. The game is challenging as well. The proper responces are not anywhere near as obvious as you'd think. It's not just about choosing the nice response over the nasty one. It is way more complicated than that and you really have to get into the character's heads to understand what will and won't please them or piss them off. Just like in real life, being a nice guy all the time won't get you girls. You have to mix it up.

I give the graphics high marks. The facial expressions of the characters really draw you into the game and there is a lot of really neat artwork between levels that can be viewed in the "museum". The music is catchy but never too distracting. The controls are basically a non-factor but I do wish it was a little easier to select commands with the touch-screen. The standard buttons can be used as well but I really wish the game could be played more comfortably with the touch-screen. Problem is the commands are so small and close together it's much to easy to select the wrong one. The fun-factor is WAY up there. The game is fun, funny, and addictive as hell. As for replay value. You'll beat it fast but I'm sure you'll want to play through it again just to see the different reactions. Being a nice guy might get you the girl but being a d*ck can have much more humorous results. In fact, I've spent a lot of the game just playing around choosing the most inappropriate commands possible. Like kissing your buddies or spraying your prospective girlfriend with pepper spray. This is also the kind of game you'll want to show off to friends. I don't know what the game is retailing for. DS games seem to vary between $30 and $40. It's at least worth $30. Assuming you already have SM64DS and Feel the Magic which are the only two DS games I give higher marks.

Thank you. You've told me everything I needed to know in your review. I will definitely be buying Sprung next.

To hell with Craig from IGN. He's giving the DS low scores on purpose in retaliation for the backlash Nintendo & DS fans have been giving him and his buddies lately. I'm not one to buy into the "Conspiracy Theory" that IGN is against Nintendo, but lately it really does seem that way. Especially with how they've been promoting the PSP every chance they can get.

It's Too bad Matt isn't editor of the DS channel. At least he's genuine with his feelings and honest enough to tell his readers the truth without belittling them or Nintendo. Craig has got to go.

Well...  Kinda. It IS a T-rated game so u won't find any sex scenes.  Also the gameplay is slightly diffirent. It has "challenges" which means u can go game over. In H games there never is a wrong answer. And ofcourse u won't find any hot anime chicks in here. But the french comic style girls are OK to.

At the very least, the writers push the limits of the Teen rating with uncensored "a--hole" namecalling and the hint at homosexual and bisexual encounters in several of the games dating "missions."

This is seriously my favorite DS game out, and I'm pretty sure it's the funniest game I've ever played.

I posted my review. It sounds like the IGN guy didn't even play it, he just read the box or something, and he sure came across as a retard by talking about the history of ADVENTURE TEXT GAEMZ and missing the genre and big points of Sprung entirely. Lol newb

HAHAHA, how true!  Many games prematurely end with a 'game over' screen.  Many games will give you a bad ending with a game over anyway, and some game-over-bad-endings are quite "good."
