I have just one thing to say.  Motion control will never fully replace analog until some developer makes some way to play FPS with a motion controller.  I love FPS but they are terrible with motion control.  If they dont have an analog controller along with motion control with the next gen systems they will have made a big mistake.  Also there is a need for analog when you play things like the VC or sports simulations (aka madden).  I think the two controls will always be split 60-40 by usage, kinda like some people perfer PC games for their first person shooters.

This is simply false. I <3 Wii FPSes forever. LOVE the pointer controls to death. :)

Wow maybe i just need to give them another try then.  I only played COD or MOH I believe.  I dont remember which one.  I hated it.  I like FPS best with a mouse.  I guess I thought everybody hated the FPS with the Wii remote.

I just tried this at best buy so I didnt get a long time with it.  How do you control the pikmin like the c-stick used to?

5
The return of the time (day) limit would be amazing to me.  In pikmin 2 I would try not to have less than like 1000 of each pikmin and it became no fun cuz I was not trying to kill any pikmin and just get more.  I played the first Pikmin like 3 times all the way through and I only got three areas in Pikmin 2 to explore before I got bored.  I am sure I am in the minority tho so I just hope that there is maybe 2 modes like that.  You could choose between Pikmin 1 style and Pikmin 2 style and use the same levels and just change the story a little bit to make it seem reasonable,

So you are casual as in doesn't play much but doesn't like casual games. What do you consider a casual game?
I'll be back later.

Guitar Hero, Mario party, things like that.  I guess casual/party game is more what I meant.  I did own games like Sega soccer slam and rogue squardron for the gamecube so I dont consider myself a nintendo fanboy or anything.

Not on the wii.  I do support 3 party developers for the xbox...

To be honest, I had to look up The Conduit.  I would say I am a casual gamer who isnt interested in casual games, if that makes sense.

Who is Gulliver?  All I see is someone named Johnny.  Edit: just figured out.  He is from Animal Crossing.

Edit:  Any why is some writing in english and some in Japanese(sp)?

As for clones (and as other people have said, we don't even know their moves), I don't find it as big of a deal as you guys seem to take it. Even in Melee they were different enough to give me a different experience when I played as them, and many people grew an attachment to them over the years; making them entirely different would have messed that up, imo.

And while you're all whining about them being lazy, keep in mind they already had to create entirely new fighting styles for Pit, Wario, Zero Suit Samus, Pokemon Trainer, Diddy Kong, Metaknight, Snake, Sonic, Dedede, Olimar, R.O.B. and possibly Luigi. In addition to all the new stages, modes, and music, I'm sure that took up the entire 2 1/2 years of production time. People who want Sakurai fired for "not respecting the fans" after all the work he and his team have obviously put into this title deserve to have their Wii stripped from their person...also, forty lashings.

The only thing they did wrong was reveal so many of the unique characters in the opening trailer, but it was sweet, and as a PR bonanza, it certainly worked. Why don't you guys just think about how you're going to like playing the game in the future rather than concentrating on pipe dreams that the director felt unworkable?

I still can't believe people defend Ganondorf clone. You realize you are saying one of the most important villains in Nintendo history is "fine" as a clone of Falcon? I can't believe people can rationalize that. Ganondorf has/had a chance to be a great character mixing magic with his moveset. Instead we get a brawler, and one that was originally defended as a clone because of a tight schedule, now because of that tight schedule his moveset is set in stone as a Falcon knockoff? Ugh. I take it that people are going to ticked off to find out they changed the movesets a bit with characters like Mario right?

I assume the only other option would be to remove Ganondorf at this point.  Yes, they had all kinds of possibilities for a moveset and yes, he is an important character in Nintendo games but they chose to focus on other things rather than Ganondorf.  Anyway, why are you so sure that he is a clone?

And could we start a spoiler thread with only pictures please?  I dont want to see any pictures from the SSE unless I choose to.  I just want to know the full roster.

These can be seen. See the icons in the lower right corner?

From the blog:

Also, some stickers can only be placed on certain characters. Stickers whose range of usage is limited in this fashion are proportionally stronger when placed appropriately.

There you have it: Lucario is in and JP and Ness are back.

FYI, I took these myself from the video.

Why exactly does that mean they are playable?  There is also a sticker of baby bowser, does that mean he is automatically playable?  Maybe I am misunderstanding this.  By the way, I hope you are right.

I can't. SSBB uses its own friend codes and not the Wii's.

And you sound like you think you are the best player ever and nobody would ever want to finish a game with you.  I doubt that either is true.

EDIT: Before you say it, I bet you could beat me in SSB.  I know I would not leave the game tho.

My skill doesn't even enter into it. I'm more paranoid about people having fun f*cking with other players.

I acknowledge that my views upon this are stilted, but not without reason. Having played various MMOs for a few years, I've known perfectly well that people will do anything they can to cause other people hassle in online games, known as "griefing".

There are three scenarios here:

1. Disconnects are tracked by Wii, meaning that players with too many disconnects will be excluded from random games.

2. Disconnects are tracked by Mii, meaning that players can make new Miis and continue to mess with people all they want.

3. Disconnects aren't tracked at all, meaning that it'll be a hassle when players drop but you can drop yourself without any worry.

#2 concerns me the most, as that means griefers will stick you with a bot just to piss you off and if you want to keep your drop record clean, you'll have to stay to fight it.

As for online skill, I hope I get my ass kicked around. It'll probably dishearten me at first, but after that I'll realize it just means I have much to learn in order to improve.

Ok, i got owned on the bold.  No more talking about things I dont know.

Your post makes more sense to me now.  It sounded like you were saying that you were so good people would not like to play against you.   But I still think that most people will not disconnect when they are losing.  They might have to totally disconnect from the internet and that takes a while to connect to, if i remember correctly.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Clones

How about a character who has moves taken from different characters?  Like a sword user would be the most logical to do since there are already two in the game and I think that there will be more eventually.  A character like Issac would be good to use, he could have multiple Link moves and multiple Ike moves along with one or two of Snakes moves.  As long as an original moveset is out of the question, I would have no problem with this as long as it was balanced out properly.  It may not fit the game Issac was in or his moves in that game, but I think it is better than not having the character in the game.  Does anybody agree?

Masks link would be a huge update for me but nothing would make me say megaton.  I just think that would be a funny thing to say.

Thinking like that will only get your hopes up and set you up for a huge letdown if he is not playable.  Dont expect anything and everything is a megaton, in regards to third party participation.

Edit: clarification

That was pseudo confirmed at E for All. The Delfino Plaza videos showed players being knocked into the water and floating/swimming.

Where is that video?  I remember what you are talking about but I cant find it.

  1. Can we save the daily stage if we like it?
  2. Can we create multistage stages?
  3. Can we do scripting/triggers of any sort?
  4. Is there a possibility of using are own pictures as backgrounds?
  5. Is the music selection strictly whats already in Brawl?
  6. Will there be updates for the issues this will most likely bring up?
  7. Are we stuck with Battle Stages or could we make Break the Target and like?

Those are just a few things I like to know.  I really hate to get a level I truly enjoyed and only be able to use it for one day.

The update says "For music, you'll only be able to choose from the songs you have available."   Though what that means I am not sure.  I kinda sounds vague on purpose.  Like you can have other music but it must be available first.  What do you all think?

Also break the target would be hard to make because the targets could be out of reach but appear to not be.  Does that make sense?

Of course it is relevant.

When people are saying how Nintendo would "never" let such violent actions happen to their character it is completely relevant because clearly they didn't mind in the case of SCII. It's perfectly relevant.

Proving evidence to support ones claims is a good way to have a discussion, at least that's what I think.

About the bold, I never said that and I agree with you about it.  Soul Caliber is only one example.

I am only talking about Snake breaking necks in the context of Super Smash Brothers.

makes much more sense than anybody getting their neck broken in SSB.

I guess some people thought a trained killer being added into Brawl meant hugs and kisses for all the other characters.

I just think it is strange to take out guns and knives but leave in breaking necks.  Can we at least agree on that?  I personally find breaking necks to be worse that guns or knives.

Nobody has replied about SCII because that is not what we are talking about.  Link getting sliced and diced in that game makes much more sense than anybody getting their neck broken in SSB.  SC is a realistic game and SSB is not.  For that reason nobody has addressed the SC thing.  Its not relevent to this discussion as I see it.

In real life, if you hit someone with a baseball bat they will not fly off the ground at all.  The fact that in the games that hitting someone with a baseball bat or a sword and they fly away clearly makes the action cartoon like.  If someone hits you with a sword, you will not be propelled at all.  You will not go anywhere.  When Snake snaps Marios neck, it is an accurated description of how it would look in real life.  That is where it is crossing the line.

Do you guys think that the characters from Gunstar Heroes would work very well?  It would be awesome to have the possibility of the weapons in that game somehow.  Also the throwing attack would be easier but much less powerful to stay true to the game.  The throw would be either A or B to give the game more diversity.  What do you guys think?
