Nintendo Gaming / RE:Football game = fun?!?

Maybe a mod should edit the title so that it more accurately reflects the nature of this conversation.  Maybe something like "Naruto Localization ..." would be more fitting.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Football game = fun?!?

To anyone who is curious, this game is extremely fun and addicting.  It actually requires quite a bit of skill/dexterity with the stylus to have a successful game.  Some tidbits:

1. When passing the football, it goes through its standard, over-exaggerated anime-ations, then shows the ball flying through the air toward the screen.  You have to touch the ball with the stylus at the right moment in order for your player to catch the ball.  One of two things happen then:  If you tap it close and get a "GOOD" rating, then your player catches the ball and either gets tackled or dives to catch it, ending the down.  If you tap it extremely accurately, you get an "EXCELLENT" rating and continue running after you catch it.

2. When running the ball, every couple of yards you run into defenders, and have to tap your path that you would like to take.  How effective your run ends up depends not only on which path your tap, but how accurately you tape the circle that appears to indicate each path.

I still have not yet figured out the system to tackle opponents.  That one is just wacky looking and doesn't have an visual clues as how to do it.  Being that I don't speak Japanese, I'm surprised I've gotten this far.  I wouldn't expect this game to make it outside of Japan, but it would be sweet if it did.

There, fixed that for you.  It's all subjective.  I like it.

I didn't get duds after duels for quite a while, then all the sudden they showed up and appeared eager to make up time.  I still have yet to get anything but a 1X multiplier for DK minigames though.

It's a great game I think, LEAGUES better than MP6.  I couldn't stand that one.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Official DS Sales Thread

I wanted a Micro, but I got a DS.  I just can't justify $90 for a swanky GBA when I spent $10 (yes, $10) more and got a DS.  I think that has a great deal to do with its low sales, is its high price point.

It fits in well with Mario & Luigi, and rumbles when you'd think it would.  Personally, I don't use the thing at all.  It makes a nice rumble SOUND in the cartridge, and its annoying as hell.

Just thought I'd hit a one-time bump to see if anyone else has had this issue?  I still have yet to see anything other than a '1' multiplier.

Mario & Luigi ... I had my doubts on it, but it is one of the most engaging and fun games out right now.

To anyone that plays Mario Party 7 -- have you ever gotten more than 1x multiplier for any multiplayer donkey kong mini-games?  My wife and I have done at least 30 of these, and have never seen the 2x or 3x banana multiplier.

Thanks.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Christamas is here what games did you get?
« on: December 27, 2005, 04:22:31 AM »
I got the following games:

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Final Fantasy IV Advance
F-Zero GX (never gave it a try till now)
Zelda: Wind Waker (maybe I'll actually play this one through now)

Also got a bunch of nice ties, dress shirts, some Nintendo shirts, and a kickass platinum ring from my wife.  Overall I would say this has been one of the best Christmas's in a long time.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Nice one blackfootsteps.  I haven't even gotten around to doing any decal/flag/design making, but I'll have to utilize this when I do, as with the MKDS maker.

I'll probably get it for Christmas, 'cause I'm a sheep and, being that I love Nintendo's wacky ways, I can't see that I wouldn't like it.

Understandable.  I'm not a company whore either, but when you're a part of the company's bottom line, it's hard not to feel bad when something like this goes awry, and you had the opportunity to avoid it.

Good deals to all those that can get 'em.  Sorry to hear about your experience with Target though Mystic.  I've had that happen with retailers like Walmart and Best Buy, so I hear ya.

Nice try MysticGohan, but you have to have a physical copy of the Catalog.  There is a reason they are honoring the price, and that is because they go out to Best Guests, which are typically those people that spend about $1,000 on their Target Red Card / Visa each month.  Oh, and they've already corrected the online price, so they can deny to honor the price on those grounds as well.

You can try to bring in the printout of the online catalog, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do not honor it.  Unfortunately, I work in the department responsible for proofing the design/layout of that Catalog, and wish I would have caught the mistake.  We're not trying to be asses if we don't honor the price, you just have to look at it from our perspective, that a mistake was made, and we're losing $29.99 for each one of these units that moves out the door.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Another Controller Secret to be Revealed
« on: December 05, 2005, 07:35:34 AM »
If it were true that you could get an adapter to hook the Revolutoin controller up to a TV through standard RCA cables and play classics on the go, it would be awesome.  However, what is to stop someone from going out and purchasing a controller, taking it to their friend's house to load up on games, then keeping that and having retro goodness?

I have no doubts that the Revolution will have strong DRM techniques in place to prevent this type of blatant abuse, but hackers love cracking DRM, and Nintendo has always been a very forward-thinking company when it comes to piracy.

I don't see it happening.

Damn that sucks.  I really enjoyed his work, especially outside the Karate Kid universe (an alternate one, to be sure).

Rest in peace.

I think it will be a huge success, regardless of whether the Rev has wired broadband or not.  My house has been wireless for almost two years now.  I am running a Linksys WRT54G router with DHCP and a dynamic IP address.  I had ZERO issues setting up wireless play on my DS (read: turned the system on; worked).

I know wireless networks cost money, but honestly this technology has been around for years, and it's about time that people adopt it.  I would much rather have Nintendo build wifi into their next-gen system than having to spend $99 to buy an adapter to make it wireless (ala Xbox ThreeShitty).  On the flip side, I don't see why Nintendo would forego the $5 to include a basic 10/100 ethernet port, but it appears that they are going to do just that.

They utilize the same peripheral, but the GCN did use the broadband adapter for PSO, so it's a different purpose on those two points.
