Nintendo Gaming / RE:Battalion Wars II
« on: December 19, 2007, 05:15:02 AM »
I also love this game.  I haven't been able to play online much, but plan on it more so after Christmas.  I love Assault but have found that defending is much easier until you play the levels a couple times and find a good attacking strategy, then it evens out.  Very fun game.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wii repairs
« on: October 04, 2007, 01:31:04 PM »
Just thought I'd chime in quick.  I'm actually on my 3rd Wii.  My first malfunctioned right away because of a disruption during the firmware upgrade.  My 2nd had the exact same problem after a little while.  After letting them know how upset I was, I was able to get them to send me an advance replacement Wii, and then I called in and they transferred my stuff from the phone.  It took a matter of about 3-4 days to get my knew Wii.  I was extremely happy with that, but I do not have WiiConnect 24 on now for fear of the same problem.

I own the game, and have played quite a bit of the game.  I was very frustrated after an hour or so because things were happening when I did not want them to, then I stepped back and looked at the controls.  I now have become quite good and it is pretty enjoyable.  Here are the keys:

Find a swing that works for you.  I worked at holding the remote perfectly level, changing the angle and all of that stuff during my swing until I found what got me a good swing with little slice (though I have a bit of a natural fade).

Hold still when you hit the ball.  When the computer hits it during your backswing, it is because (at least 90% of the time) your wrist flinches and you have a downward motion which it interprets as a followthrough.

The rounds take longer than in other versions.  I have found this extremely satisfying.  It makes me feel so much more immersed because I am paying attention to what I am doing.  I absolutely love it.  It's a completely different experience than in other versions.

Putting....yeah, practice and you'll get better at it.  Most putts are pretty easy but there are distances that the game will simply not allow you to hit which is frustrating.  This is my main gripe with the game.

Overall, after I realized the controls are not an actual golf swing, I came to really enjoy the game.  I am still a little disappointed the controls aren't 1-1, however for a first effort, I believe it came out very well done.  (If I needed a score...about a 8.0-8.3)

The speckles have grown each day, so I contacted Nintendo and she said the only thing I could do was to send it in to have it repaired, oh and it could take up to four weeks!  They can't do advanced replacement because I have virtual console games download that apparantely cannot be transferred in any way.  I've already returned my Wii once, I DO NOT WANT TO DO IT AGAIN.  Does anyone have a better solution they can think of?

I'm just starting to have this same problem.  I'm getting white speckles on my Wii.  I normally have Wiiconnect 24 on, but I unplugged over last night, however, I still have the white speckles.  I'm going to put it verticle to see if that gives it more air and makes a difference.  I already had to get my Wii replaced once, I don't want to have to do it again.

Nintendo Gaming / Madden kicking problem? what...?
« on: December 23, 2006, 02:58:06 PM »
Ok, I know not too many people on here are Madden fans, but I have a problem.  My problem is people complaining about the kicking "problem" in Madden.  Why have I had no trouble with this, yet I see countless people talking about the kicking needing to be fixed.  It's not hard, in fact, I consistantly kick over 50 yard field goals.  Here is the way to do it....STAND UP!  God forbid you might need to get off the couch for a second, but if you stand up and have the remote pointed towards the ground, then fling it (while holding A of course) in a kicking motion upwards, and, if you held it steady, you have a perfect kick.  It works, I do it no problem and love Madden.

I'm sorry, I just really had to get that out, if this doesn't work for you, then you're doing something wrong.  Feel free to ignore if you could care less about Madden.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:wiiconnect24 question.
« on: December 23, 2006, 06:12:47 AM »
I do have your setup, and you will see a little reminder on your computer about every 5 minutes when it connects.  And no, Nintendo doesn't have their stuff together yet with Wiiconnect 24, because it is not instantaneous in any way.

Bad graphics, and art direction?  I agree that it's not PS3 quality, but in now way did I ever expect it to be.  Not stellar graphics does not mean horrible graphics.  I have found myself wandering around doing nothing in this Zelda game more than any other game, it has been a joy just to play.  I can understand if you don't like this type of game, but the graphics are in no way bad.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Oh no, this can't be true...(about online play)
« on: December 17, 2006, 03:13:01 AM »
As far as I know, there is one code per game.

I do have a problem with this (if it turns out to be true).  I don't want to buy a game and then have to spend time searching for codes and sending messages, that is not why I bought the game.  There is no logical reasoning for not using the Wii friend list.  Of course, if this is growing pains I may understand, but I put in codes in my DS and it got annoying fast.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Question about the pointer
« on: December 15, 2006, 08:12:33 AM »
I figured it was something easy, just curious.  But the pointer is very smooth in Madden compared to the menu.  I thought the choppiness on the menu might be cause of the lip on my TV, but wasn't sure because of the smoothness in Madden, probably my sensitivity setting.

Nintendo Gaming / Question about the pointer
« on: December 14, 2006, 12:26:01 PM »
So I noticed while playing Madden, that if I twist the remote sideways, left to right is up and down, and up and down is left and right.  But, in the Wii menu's interface the hand turns, but the up down directions will stay the same.  May be a dumb question but does anyone know why this is?
Also, from the same position the Madden pointer is awesomely smooth while the interface pointer is choppy.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:rapala fishing for wii

It was the Wii version, so it is definately out there.  I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't read this thread earlier.

Edit:  IGN has a review of it up...let's just say it wasn't friendly.

While browsing at the local Best Buy I did see the game for sale.  I don't know anything about it though.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:OFFICIAL Ask Random Questions About Wii Thread

I had the firmware problem, and when I called Nintendo about it, he said it was likely because when I downloaded the first update the internet connection was likely interrupted for a split second at a critical time.  When I got my new one, I didn't even had to download anything.  My advice to you would be to try to connect to the internet as soon as possible because if by a small chance your system does mess up, you cannot transfer your old saves from system to system, trust me I tried for a long time, and I guarantee you will eventually want your system on the internet.  Hope this helps.

Nintendo Gaming / Problem with Animal Crossing Wi-Fi
« on: December 07, 2005, 11:23:27 AM »
I have a problem attempting to go to other people's towns.  I am able to have people in my town but I cannot leave to visit other people's town.  It gives me error code 82640, which is a problem with the firewalls, but I cannot figure out how to make it work.  Any help?

That would be me.  That was a pretty amazing match.  The second one was good too, especially after TYP disconnected so I was able to make a comeback on decoy .

THAT's what you were doing when I played you in Baby Park.  (at least I think it was you)  I couldn't understand why the guy I was playing was going backwards.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Mario Kart DS - The Release Thread
« on: November 16, 2005, 08:55:20 AM »
Ok, I have a question for everyone....I get the error 20100, when trying to connect to my college's wireless access.  The connection is strong and says its ready but when I test it, it doesn't work.  I have looked at nintendowifi.com and it says that if I need a browser that I can't use it to get online.  Anyways, what I'm wondering is if there is any way to get around this and being able to go online, like if I register with the network, should this be able to work?

Nintendo Gaming / RE:I Really Want to Fix My Wavebird
« on: April 24, 2004, 02:46:55 PM »
I may have a solution.  You said it was a silver wavebird.  Well, how long have those been out in the U.S.  If you found out the warranty period was longer then how long they've been out...then you're in some luck.  Just a thought.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Mario Kart Discussion (TALK ABOUT MARIO KART HERE)
« on: January 05, 2004, 03:55:35 PM »
Thanx, that seems to have done it.  I couldn't figure what was wrong because I had the time to actually beat the ghost, now I have to duplicate it again.  DK Mountain was the only track I've tried so far, mainly because the turns are predictable and it is one of the easier courses to cut time off of.

I have a problem with the staff ghosts.  I beat the time for DK Mountain that I had found that I needed to to unlock the ghost...yet I get not ghost.  I even beat the time they said it took to beat the ghost, and still no ghost, what's the deal?  I'm using the 2 toads in the toad kart.

Nintendo Gaming / Hoping for a little help

For retailers to get their videogames shipped to them, how do they do it?   What I mean is if I was a retailer how would I go about getting the new video games shipped to me.  Who do I contact?
Thanx
