Nintendo Gaming / RE:bonus disc with preorder of rebel strike

it's sad that maniac mansion was lucasarts best game until this generation of consoles started

I never liked that game. Never. Judging from the leaked beta I've been playing, Jedi Academy is clearly the best. Though, that was made by Raven, and not Lucas Arts...

New games?

Assuming you live in the US or Canada, F-Zero and Soul Calibur II come out at the end of month. Mario Golf is out/is coming out very soon (oddly, I find this better then normal gold games). You can also buy a Gameboy Player, if you like.

Man, the graphics in Knights are bad...whats up with that. High profile star wars games like Jedi Knight II and Rogue Leader had great graphics...oh well, gameplay is still there, can't have it all...

The Lightsaber battles are horrible

I've dreamed of a Jedi RPG for years and years. As a result, I always play Paladin in D&D. When Baldur's Gate was out, I used some mod tools to make a custom Jedi class and a lightsaber. When Neverwinter Nights was released, I downloaded the glowblade mod first chance I got. That's how much I've wanted to make my own Jedi. From what I've played on the Xbox version, I've been given what I wanted, and am happily waiting for the PC version.

As for bad graphics, my Jedi roleplaying is limited to Neverwinter Nights mods right now, with KOTOR looking a lot better then NWN. You take what you can get.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube overheating
« on: July 20, 2003, 12:39:07 PM »
Gamecube seems to be the flavor of the season, especially where I live.  I walk into EB, and there is Nintendo stuff everywhere, with everyone saying "Whoah! Play Gameboy games on Gamecube? Whoah! Metroid? Whoah! Zelda? Whoah!" I imagine it'll stay that way until Christmas, with all the software coming out.

Though, I have been drooling over the Xbox lately. Only for Knights of the Old Republic, though, and that will be on PC in October... Be strong. Be vigilant.

The Gamecube is built like a tank, so you shouldn't have much to worry about.

Anyone else see the video where the guy tied his GC to the back of his car and took it for a drag race, and found that it still worked afterwards?

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid...for x-mas?
« on: July 18, 2003, 09:38:19 PM »
Christmas would be a very likely release for Metroid: Zero Mission (which is indeed a Metroid 1 remake). GBA games don't long to make. Maybe it's being made my Capcom, too? Who knows.

Though, Metroid Prime 2, devloped by Retro (not Capcom), will not be ready Christmas. Spring, maybe. Summer of 2004 seems more likely.

Nintendo Gaming / New Fire Emblem for GC

They announced the Custom Robo game for GC once, and I thought it was a hoax. E3 happened and I was proved wrong.

If you're worried about Gamecube titles, fear not. Many great ones are coming. If you do not believe, read this thread:

We at the Penny Arcade forums have found plenty to look forward too, and we havn't even covered everything yet...

And god said, let their be Marth.

If Nintendo can push this properly in the US, a fantasy title like this would help the Gamecube greatly.

Maybe this will send a message to Nintendo. "Hmmm... Demo discs work!"

Seeing as Joe is doing so well, I think their is a fair chance it will remain exclusive. Unless, of course, Capcom thinks "Hey, if it's doing real good on the Cube, so it will do super well on the PS2!"

Smells like flame bait to me. You pretty much knew what the response would be.

It's your Cube, though. You're free to do with what you want.

Though, I don't understand how people can't get good gaming experiances out of their cubes. I have a new game I'm drooling over every month.

Nintendo Gaming / GCN Succesor Takes Shape

Even if Nintendo does some of this stuff, I still cant see them becoming number 1. Casual gamers are going to go to the Playstation name no matter what.
Not if it isn't practical. If MS and Sony take these entertainment hubs they've been pushing for too far, then they may end up with a console that'll be too expensive to be practical. If that's the case, Nintendo will have the far more affordable system because it will be game only. If big N can do that, and have some decent launch titles, they could very well become numero uno again.

Of course, I live in a beutiful dream world.

I play as Marth, and I have trouble against certain characters, namely Falco and Link. I almost always win, though.

Yes, I'm bragging.

Nintendo Gaming / New Nintendo mascots?
« on: May 29, 2003, 02:01:46 PM »
I find the line of thinking of "Oh no! Nintendo is throwing away old characters for new ones!" rather foolish.

When has Nintendo ever really shafted a character? Donkey Kong, missing since the arcade shows up on the SNES. Samus, not seen since the SNES now rejoins us. Even the Ice Climbers showed up in Smash Bros. Not to mention the E-Reader...

As for Pokemon, it's their biggest cash cow, and I have no doubt they'll continue to use it. Just not as much, though. You can't argue they've been milking Pokemon WAY too much, causing the hysteria to nearly die in North America. And Mario... his luck luster sales have shown he's getting old, and Nintendo can't afford to depend on him as much as they used to. He'll have his games, though. Mario still commands a respectable following, and it would be dumb to throw him out.

Personally, I want to see something new, anyways. There have been one too many games featuring Mario characters. A little variety goes a long way.

It don't see how cel-shading would influence sales at all. Especially since you can't tell if they're cel-shaded or not.

I leave my GBA SP on my inside jacket pocket. If I ever have to take my jacket off, it goes into my side pants pocket, where it is firmly gripped by my hand a 100% of the time. Never ever my back pocket. Call me paranoid, but I'd rather not loose it.

General Chat / Anime - Japanese vs English

Depends on what sort of movie you want. The Miyazaki movies are dubbed and subbed incredibly well. I don't think anything has been cut from it...

However, series like DragonBall Z are butched by dubbing and cutting. I import my DBZ. I don't trust anything dubbed or subbed by Bandai, either.

Why don't Nintendo fans like Fighting Games?

I'm a Nintendo fan, and I LOVE fighting games. I have Mortal Kombat: DA, Capcom vs SNK EO, Smash Brothers, an imported Soul Calibur 2, Godzilla, X-Men: Next Dimension. So, yeah...  I love 'em.

I just checked a few dictionary... Ken does indeed mean fist, which basically means"punch" or "attack." Ken also means sword, though. Everyone's right.

So they might get ported. Big deal. It's not like they've suddenly canceled the titles.
