I can only imagine what your memorabilia collection will look like in a few years time, when you can just create your characters in whatever pose, outfit, style you wish, go down to your local Staples to print it out, and then take it home and position it in your set-up how ever you imagined.

sample of 3d Print Quality:

So lets see those Mario, Pokemon and Skylander figurines I know you are about to design and print.

NWR Forums Discord / ITT: How South Park earned it's "TV-M" Rating
« on: October 01, 2012, 09:48:14 PM »
Tendoboy apparently has never seen the more "mature" episodes of South Park....

South Park has gotten really lame over the last few years. The gross-out humor has been toned down (the jokes are sometimes tamer than an episode of Family Guy, and that show has a lower rating of "TV-14"). So what warrants South Park's "TV-Mature" rating?

So let's remind him of all the reasons South Park deserves earned it's TV-M rating

Nickmitch, why don't you go ahead and start it off;

How many grown men have to drink a child's cum for a show to be edgy?

and I'll continue it with

How many children have to be tricked into eating their own parents in a chili to be considered "not appropriate for children"?

p.s. Not every episode has to be TV-M for the show to hold it's Mature rating

General Chat / Photoshop Request
« on: August 12, 2012, 01:06:28 AM »
I have a Photoshop request that I thought someone may be able to help me out with.
My unit at work has been split into teams for a little inter-group friendly competition.
My team, that I am head of BTW, is called Money Row
my supervisor threw together some clipart that looks really bad and is in desperate need of being replaced.
We would have taken it down already, but he looked like a little kid with a big ol' smile as he sat at his desk and cut out the pictures he had put together for us. We didn't want to hurt his feelings, so I decided to just replace it with something much better.

I'm gonna also try to do this myself, but photoshop comes alot easier to some of you, so I thought I would enlists some help, just on the off chance that some of you have some free time and don't mind showing me up with your superior skill in photoshopping.

Now what I have in mind was:

meets Death Row

I would like that Cash Money Logo, but only saying "Money Row" in the same styling instead.
and in full color.

I appreciate any help.

Nintendo Gaming / Wii U in Review (News & Rumor Consolidation)
« on: May 28, 2012, 07:25:31 PM »
E3 is upon us and I thought I would compile all the news (from the Wii U thread) into a nice (and long) list for easy refreshing of everything we've heard from E3 of 2011 till today.

The list still isn't finished, and is a work in progress, but all of 2011 is done so far. If I've missed something, please feel free to point it out, but everything on this list is sourced back to this forum, so please provide a link to where it was found on this forum.

Hope this comes in handy for a Wii U Year in Review

Nintendo Gaming / Getting into E3; How Difficult Is It To Do?
« on: April 28, 2012, 09:43:45 PM »
I really want to know how hard is it to get into E3 for someone that doesn't have any direct ties to the industry?

What are the requirements needed to get into E3? And have any of you ever been? or planning to go this year?

In the wake of the first leak , we were able to get hold of a video of Rayman Origins 2 , which confirms both the name of Rayman Legends and the new direction of this episode.
We thus find the mythological worlds and mini-games, along with a new graphic style rounder, additional characters and online play. But the most interesting interactions comes to Wii exclusive U, allowing the player using the mablette interact with environments and even placing objects - a heart, in this case - on the touch screen to restore life the characters. The end of the trailer even suggests that one could ask for inviting characters figurines Ubisoft at the party. Since the original video has been removed from YouTube by the editor, there is little doubt that Whether it is a genuine leak and that the company would have liked to keep it for E3 .
It uses asymetrical multiplayer where the person with the uMote can manipulate the gameplay.
it uses NFC where you place objects & characters on the uMote to affect the game.

the video is at the link. watch it before it's removed.

Epic VP: "I'd be shocked if Wii U doesn't do well"
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-03-12-epic-vp-id-be-shocked-if-wii-u-doesnt-do-well?
Quote
Epic VP Mark Rein will be shocked if the Wii U isn't a hit for Nintendo when it launches later this year.

Sepaking to Eurogamer at GDC in San Francisco last week, Rein argued that parents are ready to upgrade their kid's Wii to Nintendo's new system.

"I like the Wii U. I think E3 will be a big eye-opener for people," he predicted.

"I played Batman: Arkham City on the Wii U and they are doing some really cool stuff with the controller.

"Do you remember the Zelda demo they had on it? Would you not buy a Wii U just to play that? Of course you would. That's what Nintendo is all about. Their hardware is the software delivery service for their great content. That Zelda demo was gorgeous and we can do even more than that with Unreal Engine 3. I think it will do great."

Rein added that Nintendo's brand recognition and beloved IP should see it fly off shelves, though he suggested that it might have been quicker off the mark with getting the machine to stores.

"It's a great brand that a lot of parents really trust and they're probably ready to buy their kids an HD Wii that does that much more than just being an HD Wii.

"I'd love it if they'd done it last year, but I'm excited for them to do it this year. I'd be shocked if it doesn't do well.

"Did you play that Battle Mii game? Two players would play with a Wii Remote and Nunchuk and one would play with the Wii U controller?

"I would buy a Wii U to play that game in a heartbeat. And I hope people make those kind of games with our technology. I think we've yet to really see what the Wii U can do and I think at E3 this year they're going to shock us."

Earlier this year Nintendo president Satoru Iwata suggested that, more than ever, the company will be looking to partner with third parties when developing high-spec core games that fall outside of its traditional comfort zone.

Might Epic step up to the plate with a new IP for the system, a la Gears of War on the Xbox 360?

"If I had 10 development teams I'd make a game for every single platform and make that the special game for that platform," replied Rein.

"If you're the special game on that platform you do really, really well. Gears was one of the special ones on Xbox 360. Infinity Blade is a special game on the iPhone and iPad. Shadow Complex was a special game on Xbox Live Arcade.

"But we don't have 10 development teams so it's just a matter of picking and choosing what we do and doing the best thing we can for the idea that we have."

It's sort of a compliment with not so hidden disses mixed in, but it's a major step up from their previous stance on Nintendo hardware. So we have to take what we can get.

Valve said to be working on 'Steam Box' gaming console with partners, could announce at GDC
Apparently taking on AppleTV and all the consoles in one fell swoop
http://www.theverge.com/2012/3/2/2840932/exclusive-valve-steam-box-gaming-console
Quote
According to sources, the company has been working on a hardware spec and associated software which would make up the backbone of a "Steam Box." The actual devices may be made by a variety of partners, and the software would be readily available to any company that wants to get in the game.

Adding fuel to that fire is a rumor that the Alienware X51 may have been designed with an early spec of the system in mind, and will be retroactively upgradable to the software.

Apparently meetings were held during CES to demo a hand-built version of the device to potential partners. We're told that the basic specs of the Steam Box include a Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GPU. The devices will be able to run any standard PC titles, and will also allow for rival gaming services (like EA's Origin) to be loaded up.

Part of the goal of establishing a baseline for hardware, we're told, is that it will give developers a clear lifecycle for their products, with changes possibly coming every three to four years. Additionally, there won't be a required devkit, and there will be no licensing fees to create software for the platform.

We're hearing that a wide variety of USB peripherals will be compatible with the boxes, though it will likely ship with a proprietary controller. It's possible that the controller will even allow for swappable components, meaning that it can be reconfigured depending on the type of game you're playing. Think that sounds odd? Well Valve filed a patent for such a device last year.

More at the link including the patent with pics of the valve patented swappable function controller.

Next Gen just became that much more interesting.

Is it still possible that Valve has anything to do with the Wii U online assuming this was true? Or maybe working with Nintendo on Wii U online is what inspired them to take this step in the first place?

What do you guys think about a Steam Box next to your TV?

Kawata (RE:Rev Producer) says he almost dropped all other projects to get started on it right away;D

Given the fact that Capcom managed to deliver Revelations as well as Mercenaries 3D inside of the first year of the 3DS's life, and given their reception, we asked producer Masachika Kawata if he saw a future for Resident Evil on the Nintendo 3DS. Did he already have new ideas - and would he be interested in bringing them to full production?

"The incredibly positive fan reaction to Revelations has definitely given me motivation to make another 3DS RE title," Kawata told us in an interview. "I have some ideas in mind. However, I have a lot of other projects that need to be taken care of first."

That might seem like any potential and future Resident Evil projects would be a ways off, right? Not so fast, survival horror fans...

"I must admit," Kawata continued, "Hearing players say how much they enjoyed Revelations does kind of make me want to forget the other projects and get stuck right into making another RE game for fans to enjoy (laughs)."

When we conducted our interview, Revelations had just debuted in Japan and was the #1 selling game in the country. Noting that this game had a more old school, survival horror focus than other Resident Evil games, we asked if this commercial reception encouraged him to continue this approach with future installments.

"Of course!" Kawata told us.
"Game development is always a very taxing process, no matter what the project, and the only thing that gets us through is the belief that, at the end of the journey, there are people waiting to enjoy the game. So if a game sells particularly well, then we have good reason to make more titles like it."

So maybe sometime after Resident Evil 6 hits the Wii U we can get some more RE love on 3DS too!

“[WiiWare's] 40MB is horrible, but [3DS's] 2GB is reasonable. Super Meat Boy would have been on WiiWare if we could have had just a few more megabytes of space – you can only compress stuff so much before you have to start cutting out huge parts of your game. Unfortunately, at that point, it just isn’t worth the time.”

“If we can in the future, we’d like our next game to be on Wii U as well as everything else.”
No more complaining about file sizes now.

40MB was a little ridiculous, glad Nintendo listened to the devs about it.
Maybe Wii U will bump it up to 4.7GB now that we have HDD options.

Positions include effect designers, motion designers and 3DCG designers. The 3DCG designers will work on character modeling and 3D map modeling. The effect designers will work on effects for map and battle scenes. The motion designers will work on motion for things like monsters and characters.

This is the second time in the past year that we're hearing about job solicitation from Monolith Soft. The studio previously posted a listing for a Wii U project. The Wii U project is based out of Monolith's main Tokyo office. You can access the Wii U listing here.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo renaming Wii U by choice? or by force?
« on: February 10, 2012, 10:12:50 PM »
Quote from:  Rösti
Well, considering a potential name change, I can, as I referenced [...], mention that Nintendo Co., Ltd. on the 11th of January 2012 received a "Suspension Letter". It regarded the "master application" for the Wii U trademark, and says that unless Nintendo provides a "true copy, a photocopy, a certification, or a certified copy of a foreign registration from applicant’s country of origin", they cannot do any action with the mark, and thus have only the option to abandon it. This was, as I wrote, on the 11th of January. I doubt it would take Nintendo almost a month to provide documents of this designation, even with coinciding earnings releases and other corporate briefings. So maybe they are currently discussing what they potentially could rename the system.

I'm considering sending an inquiry to correspondent Jerald E. Nagae about this. It could also be favourable if something attending GDC could ask Nintend of America about it (they're in booth CP2020). Well, at least if they haven't prior to the conference announced any change of plans. Do we have any GDC goers in this thread?

Looks like some legal issue could have been the reasoning behind Nintendo changing the name. Somebody forgot to cross the "t"s and dot the "i"s on some legal paperwork.

NWR should follow up on this.

General Chat / Apple's HD iTV (would you want an Apple HDTV?)
« on: February 10, 2012, 09:44:23 PM »
Apple is always looking for the next big thing and once it became clear that they had locked down the iProduct line with loyal customers, it is apparently time to venture into other unexplored (by Apple) territories.

With MS, Sony & Nintendo battling it out ever the livingroom through the use of Home Consoles, I guess Steve Jobs thought it would be wiser to take a more back door approach to the livingroom. Through the very device that is the centerpiece of every family entertainment room. The large HDTV.

Quote from: 10/21/11
“He very much wanted to do for television sets what he had done for computers, music players, and phones: make them simple and elegant,” Isaacson wrote. Isaacson continued: “‘I’d like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use,’ he told me. ‘It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud.’ No longer would users have to fiddle with complex remotes for DVD players and cable channels. ‘It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it.’”
http://9to5mac.com/2011/10/21/jobs-told-biographer-that-he-cracked-the-code-to-building-an-hdtv/

There may be a little confusion as to what Steve Jobs had actually "cracked" as far as Apple getting into the HDTV game, but there was some speculation about how they were gonna make their TV different. Siri

Quote
Although Mr. Jobs was referring to Apple’s plans to build a full-fledged television, he was not actually referring to the TV set, which is how the comment has been widely interpreted. Instead, it is becoming clear that Mr. Jobs was talking about Siri, Apple’s new artificial intelligent software on the iPhone 4S.

Apple engineers and designers, spurred by Mr. Jobs, have been struggling for years to find a new interface for the television. One of the biggest hurdles, according to people with knowledge of the project, has been replacing the television set’s annoying best friend: the awkward and confusing remote control. Apple would give people a way to choose the content on their television that is as easy as choosing the content on their iPod, iPhone or iPad.

Alternative remote ideas floated by Apple included a wireless keyboard and mouse, or using an iPod, iPhone or iPad as a remote. None of these concepts worked. But there was one “I finally cracked it” moment, when Apple realized you could just talk to your television.

Enter Siri.
http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/10/27/whats-really-next-for-apple-in-television/

I've never personally used Siri, but I hear it is quite amazing for a voice recognition app. But in order to incorporate Siri, Apple is either gonna have to update AppleTV, the little box that no one bought, or just refresh and start over with an actual HDTV (playing towards the iPad/Pod/Phone crowd, only now with a 55" Retina Display screen instead of a 4.3" one). But considering the price of an iPhone.... I don't even want to think about how much a TV 10X the size of the phone would cost. Thankfully some analyst jumped in and speculated on that already.

Quote from: Piper Jaffray
- Full-fledged television set. Given that Apple seeks to streamline the user experience and its recognition that users don't really want yet another set-top box, Apple will almost certainly be going for an all-in-one solution. But given that Apple does not currently offer a full suite of television content offerings, most users will likely not be able to cut ties to their cable or satellite providers. Apple's TV will instead serve as an advanced interface that still draws upon the standard signal coming in from a cable box.

- Range of sizes and twice current pricing. Munster believes that Apple will introduce its television in a range of sizes, recognizing that customers have different needs. He also believes that Apple will price its television at approximately twice the prevailing market price of similarly-sized televisions. The price premium would cover the additional hardware and software necessary for integration with the Apple ecosystem while also preserving Apple's high profit margins in a competitive market.

- Simplicity and Apple's ecosystem. Aside from the rumored Siri voice-powered interface, Munster predicts that the Apple television will integrate with iOS devices and Apple's content ecosystem for video, games, and apps, serving as another hub for digital entertainment tied into Apple. The interface will likely include a traditional remote control, but also iPad and iPhone apps for controlling the set's features, as well as Siri voice control that seeks to remove much of the complexity of interacting with television sets. Users will simply be able to input or say "ESPN" to be taken to the sports channel rather than having to look up or remember the channel number.
http://www.macrumors.com/2011/11/30/speculation-on-apples-television-set-range-of-sizes-device-integration-premium-pricing/

But would you be willing to pay that price for an apple branded TV just so you can use your iPhone as the remote and/or just talk to your TV to possibly change the channel? But what if it did more than that (as I'm sure it would) and also acted as your Cablebox/DVR/iTunes portal and gave you access to not only your own personal collection, and not only the offering that you can stream from the interwebs (Netflix/iTunes/HuluPlus) but also was your tuner for your cable allowing a much better interface than the slow antiquated UI that your current cable provider provides.

Rogers, BCE vying for a bite of Apple’s iTV

Canada’s largest telecommunications companies are squaring off in a fight about the future of television.

While the iTV product remains cloaked in secrecy, sources say Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple has approached Rogers and Bell as it actively pursues partnerships with Canadian carriers.

“They’re not closed to doing it with one [company] or doing it with two,” said one source who is familiar with the talks. “They’re looking for a partner. They’re looking for someone with wireless and broadband capabilities.”

Another source, also speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Rogers and Bell already have the product in their labs.

All three companies declined comment.
[...]

The product reportedly integrates Siri, Apple’s voice-recognition software that acts as a personal assistant on the latest iPhone, into television sets to help viewers make programming choices.

Viewers can then control the TV by voice or hand gestures, all from the comfort of a couch. An on-screen keyboard, meanwhile, can also be activated in a similar manner, allowing viewers to surf the web, conduct video chats and use social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook – all without any physical interface.

Jeffries analyst Peter Misek said an analysis of Apple’s patents suggests its iTV product will likely be interoperable with mobile devices, while also functioning as a gaming platform.

He notes Apple is in a good position to “leverage” potential partnerships with carriers to gain access to a wide array of content. “We believe it is likely to be offered by AT&T and Verizon in the U.S. and Bell and Rogers in Canada,” he wrote in a research note on Monday.

Now does that mean that they are offering it their current mobile partners that also have cable setups in peoples homes and that it's possible that these TV's may be subsidized by expensive cable/internet packages with contract terms that will be forced onto customers should they want an iTV at a reasonable price?

I have no idea, but if it did, would you still want one?

Is it a coincidence?

It's been happening for a very long time and I don't really care, but I even called him on it and he responded to the post but completely skipped over the smiting comment as if I didn't make it.

Why would he continually and blindly smite me for such an extended period of time?
I almost feel like applauding him for the dedication to his cause, but now I'm just kind of curious to the motivation behind it.

Nintendo Gaming / [n"] Nintendo Network Revealed!!

Breaking News!!!

Quote
The Nintendo Network service is our network platform which will cover the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U.Unlike Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which has been focused upon specific functionalities and concepts, we are aiming to establish a platform where various services available through the network for our consumers shall be connected via Nintendo Network service so that the company can make comprehensive proposals to consumers. For example, competitions and communication among users, as well as the sales of digital content, will be covered within the Nintendo Network.
Quote
For the digital sales of the content, we are also considering the future possibility of digital distribution of packaged software, which is often referred to as “software download sales.”This concept was built into the design of the Nintendo 3DS, and we already have the necessary infrastructure. We will prepare the same infrastructure for the Wii U. However, we have not decided the concrete timing of when we will start it. The decision must be made by taking into consideration such factors as the relationship with the wholesalers and retailers, and the best way to be embraced by consumers, as well as the environment surrounding the market and consumers, such as the required memory capacity on consumers’ SD memory cards. However, as an option for the future, the significance of this business field will increase.
More Communities, Video Chat, PERSONAL ACCOUNTS*!!!!, Full Game Downloads and more to come.

How much longer till E3?

*Multiple User accounts per Wii U system, meaning I can have my account, my GF can have her own account and hopefully we should be able to lock certain things of our choosing behind out individual accounts. So she can't access my swapnotes, but she can play my VC games. I can't access her friends list and she can't access my game saves.

Now just announce that with multiple tablets comes separate simultaneous VC/uTab games and we are on our way!!
