Billy takes on Advance Team at Valleyfair! Hide the children! Two interviews, plenty of pictures, and a very exclusive look at what makes Advance Team tick...
It was time to get back to a little more Rayman to force me to be interested enough for a probable rental or purchase. Man, can you make this game anymore colorful? It’s delicious! Anyhoo, Ben and I decided to ride some rides for a while…and take advantage of being in the park. Valleyfair is a pretty cool little amusement park. It's not as big as some other Amusement parks that I've been too like 6 flags, but the rollercoasters like Wild Thing and Excalibur were pretty impressive.
Since amusement parks like Valleyfair usually have sweet arcades, we had to drop a few dollars in there. First game that I tried was a light gun shooter by Konami called Police 911. It's main draw is the fact that it has motion sensors that detect you bobing and weaving. You can dodge bullets, and duck behind objects for protection. Probably my favorite gun shooter yet, and if there was some way that this could be ported to GameCube I would be thrilled. Then I got to play Sega's Kart Racing, which was decent...but nothing too mind blowing. It's a sit down Go Kart racer. Then I kicked Ben's butt in Arctic Thunder. Midway, listen up...BRING THIS TO GAMECUBE! The power ups are fantasic! Control was a little weak, but it was the first time I played it. Cool levels, amazing graphics, and a hell of a lot of fun. I want more! It's amazing how fast you can blow 5 bucks in an arcade these days. I wish they would have had Super Monkey Ball. That's what I was really looking for. Wishful thinking I guess.
After that said 2 minutes of gaming, it was time to go back to the Advance Team booth, and try to win some more stuff. There's nothing wrong with a bunch of free Nintendo stuff right?

Ultimately to the more avid gamer who reads this site, this tour is a great way to try out some GBA titles you may haven’t gotten the chance to play yet, as well as nab some nice Game Boy Advance items. It doesn’t look like the squishy items made it over from E3, but the Game Boy Advance case did…so you might as well grab one while you can! But some of the other stuff was cool too.
Overall it was a pretty good time. I mean, it’s not like it’s a portable E3, but the chance to demo 9 games and walk away from with some free stuff isn’t a half bad deal. I also thought it was pretty entertaining seeing little children get their hands on a GBA for the first time. Totally sucked in and mesmerized. Ultimately I would say that most of these kids will be screaming for a Game Boy Advance from this time forward...which is that real purpose of this tour...to get people to buy a Game Boy Advance.

If Team Advance is heading towards your town, get over there! And make sure you tell ‘em Planet GameCube sent you!
Special thanks to all the members of Team Advance, as well as all the local people from Minneapolis for all of their time and help. Also thanks goes to Amy from Valleyfair for the complimentary tickets to the park (I’ll be back in a week, Valleyfair rocks!). A big high five goes to Mr. T from Golin Harris for all the magic. Word.
