The E3 Experience
By: Billy Berghammer, Steven Thomas, Ty Shughart, Jaymin Reed, and Ed Shih

We're Jaymin!

Well, it's here, folks. The interactive entertainment industry's biggest hour, and also the longest, most crucial 72 (well, 96...) hours of any videogame journalist' s year. This is it.

And, I'm happy to report that this year, I will be a part of the maddened frenzy that is the Electronic Entertainment Expo. And this year, the gradual "platform shift" from PS/N64 to Dolphin, PS2, and X-Box will ensure that there'll be just as much, if not more excitement about intangible announcements than actual playable software titles.

In fact, i think Steven expounded on this fact nicely with his revelation of what he is most looking forward to at the E3: anything Dolphin or GBA. I am of the same opinion. While the E3 will play host to a plethora of playable PSX, n64, GBC, DC PS2, PC, and possibly X-Box titles, a huge Dolphin or GBA announcement (or, if I dare imagine, a screenshot...) would pretty much make the E3 for me.

As you are reading this, I'll assume you are either

A) Of the regular PlanetN2K/Dolphin Cove/NNation ilk, the next generation Nintendo crowd.

or...

B) That you followed the link from IGN64.com.

Either way, if either of the above are the circumstances by which you read this today, a big Dolphin announcement would probably mean more to you than coverage of Conker 64 or Ominusha, too, wouldn't it?

And as we know, we are here to provide you, our regular readership, with details you appreciate. We know the news our friends at the Dojo, the Dorks, and the Tendo Box will be reporting, and frankly, while that news is certainly of importance to you (I'd imagine it would be...), we also know that our thesis is to provide you, or readership, with Dolphin information, speculation, and insight.

So while we will certainly be reporting all the big N64/GBC news we come across, we will do so from quite the Dolphin perspective, analyzing all the information to the tiniest particle to smell out the insidious spec of Dolphin dust.

If there is no information on the after mentioned platform immediately available (a very likely situation at E3), we will try our darndest to uncover whatever we can, and we will get something.

Anyway, on to the show, what I'm really looking forward to seeing and playing...

(repetitively) Anything Dolphin/GBA

Metal Gear Solid 2 - PS2(Dolphin?) (the original was THE game for PlayStation, and one of the greatest console titles ever, ranking only behind FF6 & Chrono Trigger for my designation as "best non-Nintendo developed Console title ever!

Ominusha - PS2 (everything about this game looks incredible, and sounds it, too)

Zelda: MM - N64 (I'm more psyched about this gem after hearing about its unique attributes. Sounds damn great :))

Zelda Triforce Series - GB/GBC (GBC Zelda...but will they be as good as MGS for GBC?)

Pokemon Gold/Silver (say hello to the champions of the Holiday 2000 shopping season...)

Mario Tennis - N64/GBC (Yes!)

Conker's Bad Fur Dy - N64 (A Bad ass Nintendo Squirrel. "I smell Bandicoot roasting on an open fire..")

Star Wars: Naboo - N64 (RS kicked ass :) This will, too)

Perfect Dark - N64 (Hopefully I'll get a good discount on this Nintendo gem :)

TWINE - N64 (this will become, I anticipate, the best selling third party n64 game ever, dethroning THQ's wresting bonanzas)

Dinosaur Planet - N64 (to tell the truth, I'm not to excited by what I've seen or heard of this title so far, so I hope it measures up)

Resident Evil 0 - N64 (what was i saying about TWINE above :)?

GT2000 - PS2 (Gran Turismo...on PS2...)

FFIX/X - PSX/PS2 (Eh)

DQ7 - PSX (yeah!)

Baldur's Gate 2 - PC/PS2 (My favorite PC game ever's getting a sequel :))

Neverwinter Nights - PC

WARCRAFT 3!!! - PC (can you tell I like Warcraft?)

Mario Adventure (Mario RPG2...mmm)

Kirby 64 (should I get it for n64, or wait for the GBA port?)

... and a slew of other titles whose names escape me at this ungodly hour...

Anyway, I am more psyched for the E3 than I ever imagined I would be. I won't be sleeping tonight, I fear, I may decide to begin a pilgrimage to the LA Convention Center (15 miles away) right now, and wait patiently right now.

Well, maybe not.

Oh yeah! Also gotta meet Miyamoto, get my Mario 64 Zelda Carts/Boxes signed, get a picture, some video, etc. And I guess there’ll be other celebrities there, too!

And we’re planning some very special audio AND video files (including, if time and fate allow, a 60 minute “Experience” video.)
