The Road to Wii Fit

The Body

by Steven Rodriguez - December 31, 2007, 12:00 am EST

Here are some games you can play to help you get in shape for Nintendo's impending fitness revolution.

Heart

Sprung - DS

It's important to have good cardiovascular health through exercise and dieting, but nothing will do more damage than a broken heart. That's why it's important to find your true love, and you can find it in Sprung. Ubisoft's DS launch title isn't one of those hardcore dating simulators that are all the rage in Japan, but instead is a of a series of love stories designed to make you laugh out loud. Even as you chuckle and chortle while playing, when it's all said and done your heart may flutter or skip a beat when you conquer all and find your soul mate. No, wait ... that probably means you're having a heart attack.

CLEAR!

Two ways to a man's heart.

Trauma Center Series

In that case, you'd better get to the hospital. The best doctors in the world can cure most physical heart ailments with medication and/or complex surgical procedures. You'd better practice your medical skills with the Trauma Center games in case somebody's heart stops beating in the middle of an intense Wii Fit workout session. Sure, you could call 911, give CPR, wait for medically trained personnel to rush the victim to the hospital, and probably have their life saved. Or you could pull out your DS stylus or Wii Remote and have a smokin' hot nurse tell you what to do. Seems like an easy decision, don't you think?

Stomach

DS Cooking Navigator - DS

It takes guts to push your body to the limit. Make sure you have a really big gut by feeding your tummy something good to eat. The best tool to do that with is Nintendo's non-game Japanese cookbook for the DS. It has more than 200 recipes for different kinds of delicious Japanese cuisine. It gives preparation instructions to you in spoken Japanese, leaving you free to create a delicacy fit for a king. If you want a washboard stomach, you can do sit-ups after dessert.

If you're terrible at cooking (or you can't understand Japanese), you can try playing a cooking simulator like Cooking Mama. Well, it's not really a simulator, but you will need to follow recipes, go through the actions of preparing and cooking the food, and then get judged based on how well you did. Cooking food is a pretty good workout. If you take a look at some famous chefs, like Emeril Lagasse or Gordon Ramsay, you'll notice that they aren't fat. If you don't want to be fat, you should start cooking food too.

Freshly Picked: Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland - DS

Japan is a sexually confused country. They get off on tentacle porn, for heaven's sake. Tingle, as you can tell by his curious appearance and suggestive name, is the manifestation of this confusion. Never mind that the game is all about hoarding money and has nothing to do with physical fitness. There are larger issues at stake. How can the same company make this game and Wii Fit? There must be a connection between the two. Perhaps Nintendo was embarrassed that Tingle couldn't fit into Link's green Hero of Time garb, so the company is looking to prevent that from happening again by getting everyone in shape. Yeah, that must be it.

Tingle wouldn't exist without Japan. Just think about why for a moment.

Touch DIC - DS

Now we're getting into territory that Wii Fit didn't think of. I mean, doesn't your ***** need a workout from time to time, too? All guys have a *****, and I can't think of one of them that doesn't think about using it all the time. My ***** is quite large, and I hope by using this DS software, I can make it larger. Everyone should use their ***** to better their lives!

Editors note: Touch DIC was the pre-release name for Touch Dictionary, an English/Japanese/Korean translator for the Nintendo DS. Also, we apologize that the word “brain" was accidentally censored in the preceding paragraph.
