When? Saturday, December 2, starting at 11:30 AM Eastern.
How can I help? Show up at. Spread the word. Donate.
Where? Right here! The chat, stream link, and donation widget will be in this very article!

Talkback

"Rigged" is such a strong word...

La Mulana would have gotten a bunch of votes anyway. Maybe not that many votes - but it's not like this is pushing a bad game to the forefront. Quite frankly, I think it's a lot better game than the Final Fantasy option that was listed. Hopefully some of the staff ends up enjoying the experience.

"Rigged" is such a strong word...

1) I assumed they're using hyperbole in this posting.

2) Maybe not rigged, maybe La Mulana would have been chosen either way, and it's not a hill to die on either way.  But it does kinda stink that ClexYoshi's advocating for votes offsite to people who possibly wont have any interest of actual engagement with the telethon or Nintendo World Report.  If it results in more site engagement and better contributions to the cause, then no complaints from me, but just my $0.02.

ejamerNovember 10, 2017

Sorry - had intended to post a smiley. I also assumed that at least a little bit of hyperbole was involved.  :)

Hopefully the people who were interested enough to vote will listen in and/or contribute during the telethon. It's a great cause, and where else are you going to get a bunch of podcast discussion about La Mulana in late 2017?

Or you could hear talk about a game that's actually good when we discuss Terranigma. :P

Yes, there was a reason I kept mentioning Terranigma's compatibility progress on the SNES Classic.

We've gotta reach the prehistoric hour!

If only I could find a SNES Classic!
Still haven't seen one, other than in scalper ads that more than double the asking price.
*sigh*

Wish that game had been released on Virtual Console. I mean, seems like it would have been a prime candidate, back in the Wii days... but it never came to be.

pdoksusNovember 10, 2017

Same as last year, I will match the total amount (up to $2000) donated by noon on Dec 1. So donate early and it counts double.

Everyone please tune into the telethon and win the prizes. I need to free up space in my room for... life.

I am most certainly doing what I can to prostitute myself out for Child's Play charity.

I think most of my november is going to be doing such and playing La Mulana. maybe squeeze in a bit more of the Game dev stuff I've been doing, but... I'll make sure the people who participated in the retroactive poll are well aware of how they can participate, and how they can help folks.

TOPHATANT123November 11, 2017

Hurray!!! Always love the telethon, and I'm in a position to donate this year.

MASBNovember 14, 2017

Intriguing lineup of segments this year. Wrestling and Terranigma jump out to me at the moment.

I do wonder about the scheduling of Jon and James though. Wouldn't that make the following Shenanigans segment feel anti-climactic? ;)

For a stretch goal at say $4500 or $5000, I suggest RFN at The Movies. A commentary on their choice of say, Masters of the Universe or Beastmaster II. With that incentive, it could be a record-breaking year!

Carmine's list of prizes looks great!

... Wow, I can't believe it took me that long to notice Andre Seagers is invading NintendoWorldReport!

Dang, PDoksus, you are gentleman and a philanthropist!

Thank you, Pdoksus. <3

Going to have to wait for release of the files later, as it's the fist time I've been able to sit down on Saturday just now - but really looking forward to the event. Hope everyone has been enjoying the telethon!

ShyGuyDecember 03, 2017

Boy, this really went off rails at the end there.

MASBDecember 03, 2017

Had a great time listening this year. I can't access Discord through this machine despite various efforts. I'll have to try through a VM next time, see if that does the trick.

So many good segments this year! Radio Trivia is always a highlight. I didn't realize puzzle game music is enough to make James fit for an asylum. ;p Great to hear from the one and only Serebii. :) That guy from the South on Nintendo Mania was a hoot and defintely told it the way it was back then. The Mario + Crossovers segment was suitably over the top.

Liked hearing the discussion on Terranigma, a game I've known of, but didn't know alot about. I thought the Game Making 101 segment went alot better this year than it did last year. I think taking written questions instead of peiople calling in made for a real improvement. Only heard about half of Zach and Carmine's dinosaur segment. Can't wait to hear what I missed. In addition to the dinosaurs, it'd be nice if Jonny brought back the Space Q & A segment some telethon.

"Jon Lindemann and James Jones Are Making A Segment". What can I really say about this portion of the telethon? It's always a joy to see real masters of their craft at work, especially Jon. He seemed locked, loaded and ready to go. Once he got going, James rose to the occasion as well. Since all of Japan will fit into this time capsule/biodome, perhaps we've found the perfect spot for the RFN Hall of Fame!

Since the telethon is audio-only, I suggest that next year, Jon do his segment near a bowl of water that he can splash around occasionally. Make people think that Tub Time (TM) has truly arrived.

I wish James would put multiple photos as chapter art for the Shenanigans segment to truly capture its flavor for those who weren't in chat or are listening later. I think the segment lived up to its name!

Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to plan and produce the telethon. It's always one of the highlights of the holiday season.
