Baseball is my most played sport in the original Wii Sports, which makes the arrival of Wii Sports Club all the more exciting to me. I spent many hours battling it out against my local friends and we had tons of fun. There was a simple elegance to it and this same feeling is kept the same in Wii Sports Club, but not without a few improvements.

The rules of Baseball are still the same, but some gameplay elements have changed. Batters will now be able to use the Wii Remote Plus controllers, which makes batting more satisfying.

The pitcher on the other has a new tool at this proposal: the Wii U GamePad. The face buttons allow pitchers to alter their pitch in an effort to fool the batter, with the AI controlled team members doing most of the work catching and throwing. More often than not, they will catch the ball if it is close by, which removes some of the chance element of the game. GamePad players are sometimes requested to catch the ball themselves by moving the controller around. It is novel and works really great, but you are never too sure when the game will ask you to do this.

The game offers local and online multiplayer for up to two players, and it works surprisingly well. The online works well, despite some occasional lag spikes, and not knowing that the other player is going to do definitely adds to the fun. Finally, there are three Skill Shaper games and these are all original for this version of Baseball. Home Run Hero, Smash Hitter and Pitch for Prizes showcase the best elements of game, and let players compete for high scores.

When you compare Wii Sports Club: Baseball to the other two synchronous multiplayer games in the package, you will see that this one is superior. Tennis and Boxing have more problems, while Baseball can hold its own with Bowling and Golf. There are still some small lag issues and the field player aspect could have been more involved, but overall, it is a blast. With improved controls and options, you should not hesitate to return to the wonders of Baseball!
